Katherine Heigl: The It Girl! When VH1 honors winners in categories that captured the year in music, news, politics, arts and gossip during its fifth annual "VH1 Big In '06 Awards," our own Katherine Heigl will be among the nominees!

The year-end celebration will premiere on Sunday, December 3 at 8 p.m. from the Sony Stages in Los Angeles. VH1 is once again letting viewers choose who this year's winners will be. Viewers can vote for each category online as of yesterday, and running through December 1.

Katherine is nominated in the strangely-titled BIG "IT" GIRL category, and finds herself up against three formidable foes whose fresh young faces were simply unavoidable this year:

Katherine is "it" in our minds, that's for sure. She's certainly proven it with her great portrayal of Izzie Stevens both last season and this season.
Another Grey's Anatomy star, Patrick Dempsey is also nominated in the award show's BIG TV STAR category. Nice work, team!

Performers, presenters and special guests will be announced as they are confirmed. Be sure to cast your vote at VH1.com!

You may find it interesting that "It Girl" comes from the early days of Hollywood, with the 1920's and '30's ultra-glamorous movie stars. Clara Bow was the original It Girl.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.
