Ok, let me first say, Hats off to you Shonda. Nice writing. I must say I haven't stopped thinking about what's going to happen to Meredith all weekend. I can't wait for next week. I need to know NOW!
But I have to say, If you really kill off Meredith I truly do believe you will have no more viewers. You can't kill off the main character and get away with it. Even if she's still in the show, but not alive...it wont work.
But hey good to see Denny! I missed him a lot. And Dylan, awesome.
Now here's what I'm hoping is going to happen everyone...
Meredith will be revived, Derek will propose and she will say yes and everyone will be all happy and crap. When Meredith wakes up she will have a message for Izzy from Denny saying how much he loves her and misses her and he's always with her...blah blah blah...Meredith and Cristina will be eachothers maid of honor for thier weddings to Derek and Preston, Addison and Alex will get together, and Mark and Derek will become friends agai

"Preston Burke who has of late been in the great eye of controversy will suffer a major blow."
Hi Belgian Grey. Did you read this somewhere or are these your words? I haven't read that and wonder if I have missed something. I hope he doesn't suffer a major blow. As much as the Meredith fans have been losing sleep over the drowning the past two weeks, I have been losing sleep over what will happen to my favorite character, Burke, ever since October when the controversy broke. Every week that he is on the show I breathe a sigh of relief and then start to worry again about the next week. Television just shouldn't be so stressful. I don't want him to die and I don't want he and Cristina to break up. Anything else I can handle.

GimmeABreak I agree with your POV. The problem is that GA have 12 regulars. The writers forget that MerDer with Bang are the principal couples of the show. I'm glad for MerDer space (finally)

I seriously don't get it why people still think that Burke is going to die at the end of episode 17.
Oh please!
February 18th, 2007 10:06 AM
Belgian Grey, logically thinking, Burke is not going to be the one who dies at the end of next episode. They finished shooting the 3-episode story arc even before the Golden Globes. Isaiah Washington went to rehab after that great controversy, and two weeks later or so, there was news that he went back to the set and resumed shooting for the next episodes. Having said that, it is impossible for Burke to be killed off next episode. I'm betting that Ellis Grey would be the one to be killed off. It would be part of the Meredith coming back to life drama and all that jazz.

Ok, so yeah, Burke and Cristina became the focus of several episodes. But do you seriously think it is a treat for Bang fans? The writers made them the focus in a very stressful way for the fans for chrissake!
Sarah
February 18th, 2007 3:52 AM
For many episodes we saw only few scenes between Derek and Meeedith because the focus were Tremor gate (Burke/Cristina) George/Callie and blah blah. Finally Derek and Meredith have the focus and I'M GLAD!

I know she did not play a very big role but what about the chiefs niece could she be the one that dies? Just a thought that crossed my minds.
As for those of you who misses sex scenes with Mer/Der and Burke/Cristina give me a break is that all that you care about? I like it better when it is all "subtle suggestive guessing" that's when it's really hot.
What are we going to talk about if there is a 3 weeks breaK?????

I seriously don't think that the second death will involve Burke. Ellis Grey would be the most logical candidate for this. She's having a major heart surgery, which could cause her death. If it is Burke, it's going to be another story arc altogether. I mean, how can they kill of Burke in that very short span of time? He hasn't been ill and it can't be another gunshot, or something to that effect.
About Burke never going to be number one for Cristina - I definitely disagree with that. Cristina's relationship to both Burke and Meredith are completely different. Meredith is Cristina's best friend. Burke is the love of her life. Both of them mean a lot to Cristina, but on different levels. And Burke knows that. He is such an intelligent person and I know he'll understand Cristina sooner or later. This little thing wouldn't get into them because Burke will understand.

Although I'm sure she will be saved by some miracle, I wouldn't be disappointed to see Meredith die. She's gotten quite annoying this season beginning with the whole "Finn and Derek can fight over me" deal. The other characters can carry on the show without her ever-present whining, and her "as surgeons we..." narration. I'd personally love to see Izzie step in as the lead female character. Meredith just isn't cutting it anymore.

Sorry, I hit the wrong key. this is my continuation.
I fell in Love with Derek all over again when he came out of the water carring his sweetie. The disstressed and tortured look on his made me cry. He looked like someone had just pulled his heart out of his chest. I can't bare to see him in agony. In the ambulancewhile working on Mer,during the time the paramedic said something to him . I could have sworn I heard him say " She is All I have". ( Did I mention I was crying?) He truly is her knight in shining whatever. He looked SOoo exhausted when they got to the hospital. When Dr Weber told him to leave now, he looked like a man thinking " My life is over if I loose her." I wasn't to impressed with the way Weber, addision and bailey were handling this medical situation. ( This is one of their own). It seemed to me they gave up to easily (or) early. I thought, Cristina needs to be there.
I'm glad when I saw the promo's, Cristina was not taking any prisoners and laying down the law as

I'm telling you guys you are going to give me a heart attack. I will admit I love the suspense.
I'm happy for Izzie being able to hold her own and help the man she was working on. But, She did throw me off with her ramblings in the hallway while everyone was waiting to hear about Mer. I still don't know what George's marriage has to do with this situation .

Back several episodes ago when the interns were being snarky to Cristina and Meredith told them to give her a break. Cristina told her to quit defending her and Meredith said that she had to because Cristina was her only family or all she had or something to that effect. I remember Meredith and Derek fans being miffed that she didn't acknowledge Derek. They were not happy that Meredith felt that Cristina was all she had and wondered what that meant in terms of her relationship with Derek.
I think for the Burke-Cristina fans this is kind of similar. I understand that she has developed a bond with Meredith, like sisterhood. But it does not take the place of the love of your life and that is Burke. There is room in her life for both although having committed relationships like that are new to Cristina, I think. I don't see this as foreshadowing of them breaking up, but I do see it as another chink in Cristina's armor of aloofness. She does get emotionally involved. I think Bu

I love Addy too, especially her funny lines and expressions. I love the zingers between her and Derek, its like old Hollywood. And Mark is growing on me more and more with each episode. I genuinely like him now because he does have a heart. I think there could be real sparks between him and Izzie if they get together, I would love that. She could do alot for Mark. (and I think everyone is feeling kinder towards him because I notice he is referred to as Mark now more than Sloan or McSteamy). I find GA very inspirational too.

I bet, that something will happen with the whole marriage thing. Maybe there will be a big marriage at the end of the season and then something will happen, I really hope they make a big thing out of their wedding because they really deserve it. Mark needs to start "growing" like the other characters too. Maybe someone will pop up for him too. I hope it's not Addy, I like her better with Alex. By the way, hopefully her and Alex will begin a relationship together because I absolutely love Addy. I can't believe this show has gotten me so into it. It's really great. Now that it's become really, really, really popular it's kind of a trend to watch, but to me, it's still a great insirational story where there's a lot to learn from.

February 17th, 2007 7:18 PM
The last episode was one of the most interesting, breath-taking and best episodes Grey's Anatomy has ever aired I think. It is a pity though, how many people are overlooking the fact why this entire thing happened and the meaning behind it, and blaming Shonda for "threatening" to take out Meredith. Meredith will not die, whatever happens, she's the main character and Shonda has proved herself as a good writer, and she would never make such a mistake. This whole thing is just another chapter in Meredith's life, another challenge. She has been so overwhelmed with the return of her lucid mother, and everything else, and this whole thing topped it off. I think it was greatly written and the little girl was such a great comparison to Meredith. Everyone needs to stop saying how "if Meredith dies, I won't watch this show anymore." Meredith will not die. She's the title of the show and there is NO chance they can get rid of her. I also thought the real return of Izzie was set for "Drowning on

It's Saturday night and I'm pontificating about a TV show. I'm hopeless...that and my three little ones are blissfully watching Mary Poppins.
I'm assuming that speculating outcomes is allowed here. I hope so, 'cuz here goes:
I dig how Shonda used symbolism, metaphors and past dialogue to tie things in, and there's so many coming at us in this particular story arc. The ferry boat & Meredith and Dereks fascination and 'thing" for both of them. The silent little girl, lost without her mom - Meredith lost (& sinking) without the mother she needed. The silence of water. The need for someone to help us reach above the surface for air. All of it is so brilliant.
Here's my take on how this will all end. We see in the second part that the little girl was free to smile and 'breathe' when her mother found her and tearfully told her how sorry she was for losing her. I think the only way for Meredith to really find her way to the surface is to hear those words from her o
