Ellen Pompeo Not Enamored With Young Hollywood Stars' Behavior

Echoing the sentiments of many, Ellen Pompeo says Hollywood socialites "who are rich and famous for nothing" are setting a bad example.

"I just think the media should take this country in a different direction," the 37-year-old Grey's Anatomy actress tells the new issue of Los Angeles Confidential Magazine, on newsstands August 15.

Awesome Ellen Pompeo
"We're so focused on the wrong things. We're teaching young girls that this is what they should be focusing on: rich and famous girls who are rich and famous for nothing."

In an thinly-veiled reference to coverage of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and their ilk, Pompeo says:

"What are we doing to this younger generation? It's not very responsible."

Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy, calls the media "irresponsible" for speculating that she has an eating disorder.

"I worry about the girls who look up to me - I don't want them to think I starve myself or don't eat."

"I don't want them to think that to be like me, that's what they have to do," explains the actress, who is naturally slender.

Pompeo, a Boston-area native who is engaged to record producer Chris Ivery, says they haven't yet set a wedding date. The pair got engaged in November, having dating for three years.

"I swear we're going to get married at sometime," Ellen Pompeo says. "We're just trying to fit it all in. It won't be a big ceremony - we want one thing to ourselves!"
Does Ellen Pompeo see children in her future?

"I do," she says. "With the show, I just don't know if it's entirely fair to myself and to everybody else right now. We'll see what happens."

Hmm........ I gave up reasonong with you because Don if there is one thing i have come to realise, it is that, you are becoming very hateful and nasty. I saw your other posts on justin's family pics and Chandra wilson's. You obviously strongly do hate these people, nothing would change your mind, which is a pity of cos. God knows why he made everyone different for differnt reasons. Imagine how dull the world would be if its only all whites or all blacks. Reading your comments just reminds me of the North and South tv series. you strike me as the kind of person that, if its still legal, you would definately have slaves and beat the living day out of them anytime they do something not your way.
BUt at the end of the day, it doesnt really matter what you think of the black people. Believe it or not majority of them are very respectful and nice people. I have many black friends and i know what i saw.
You still havent answered any of my question though except beating along the bush and saying unforgivable stuffs about people, like you are some kind of superior being.

Of course you give up, because you are wrong.

*sigh* sometimes silence is the best answer to a ..... I give up Don, you win. Enjoy your life, its a free world after all. Regards!

Half of the "world's talents" are black? ALL of the world's intellectual history, and ALL of the intellectual talents in physics, mathematics, engineering, chemistry, biology, economics, philosophy, history, are NOT BLACK. The merit of a race should not be how well they shuck and jive for tokens. Blacks have given the U.S. jazz, rap, and crime--not much else.

so your point is dont have anything to do with them? So now Ellen pompeo and all other white peolpe that have something to do with black people are what did you call them "filthy wiggers"? really? which century are you in? i know many hollywood celebities that are half black (hally berry is a very good example) and people seem to like them for who they are. Half of the world's best talents you name it sports, music, acting, clothing line, models etc are blacks (you cant deny that Don). So becos you have "millions of years of divergent evolution" as you said it, that makes it an abomination to love them like any ordinary people? i heard Anjalina and Brat adopted a black from africa and so does Maddona. Do you mean to tell me you do not associate with the black population in your country at all?. I always wanted to visit the US but one cant help but wonder how you people think sometimes, this is actually not the first comment i saw on race. Is this thingy amongs the minority or is it very... you know i am short of words and extremely disappointed. Hmm.... tell me Don i am really curious now, are you an educated person at all? young or old, employed or not? becos the way you think is very limited and narrow minded.

The reason I haven't posted on Justin Chambers is because I didn't see any posting boards. He is a filthy wigger nobody, who got this job because he probably went out of his way to show rhimes he was with a black. Second, Blacks may be human--or seem to be human, but they are NOT like me. It is a simpleton's logic to argue that our only difference is in the amount of melanin in our skin. We have had millions of years of divergent evolution, and we are drastically different peoples.

Shut up Don, what exactly do you mean? why is Justin Chambers never bashed for marrying a black woman and having 5 kids? When can you fools ever learn that for any white person to even consider marrying any black person, he/she most be really in love with them? and what is wrong with black people anyway? the last time i checked, they are also human beings with feelings just like us. Even more important, they are also created from the same GOD that made us. Really u should educate ur self more or u will even be in for more shock come some few years.

I'm not enamored with her decision to marry one of the savages of africa, her self-esteem must be in the gutter.

I'm going to go throw up now.

tamika - thanks alot.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.
