sandra won an emmy for the first season which only had 9 episodes. 9 episodes!! there was no crying and panicking. she didn't need the death of a fiance, a ferry boat disaster or a dark past haunting her to bring out the best out of cristina yang. chandra, on the other hand, can boss them around, scare them, get some sense into them and care for them so effectively you actually wish you know someone like her.
i hope the emmy's go back to their standards two years ago.

Grey's Anatomy actress pens ‘book'
Katherine Heigl, whose inexplicable nomination and subsequent win of an Emmy award resulted in the implementation of minimum IQ requirements for all Emmy voters, has written a book. A scant twenty pages, The Cornerstones of Great Acting defines Ms. Heigl's most treasured acting skills: Eye rolling, making faces, and the vacant stare.

exgreysfan -- You speak the truth! I couldn't agree more. To me she'll always be the incredibly annoying blonde hair with big boobs dumb girl who when you see would want to make you kick puppies. OK I tried to be kind there. What I really meant was that everytime I see her extremely annoying face, I always have this urge to strangle her and throw her off a cliff.

Well we can all guess that this is one of the "political" type awards. Sometimes stars receive a well deserved nod for diplaying their acting chops; other times it is about other forces working in the background - the powerful gay and lesbian groups who Heigl has shown such loyalty to, the success and hype surronding knocked up, the aggresive lobbying of whoever is representing and marketing her as one of the hot actresses in tinseltown.
The truth is that heigl is only a so-so actress. I honestly do not see longevity in her career. She simply does not possess the range and sheer ability to produce the goods over and over. Sure she could spend time doing one long row of inane comedies by Judd Apatow and the like. She does not even have the abilities of that other blonde next door Meg Ryan. I might end up totally shocked as heigl goes on one day to act in films like - the painted veil, birth, becoming jane, etc. But somehow I do not think she will be able to carry them off. Not that sh

On hindsight, maybe she did coz it's all butter wrapped in gold foil after all. Teehee! Um yeah, no. She certainly did not deserve that Emmy and I believe that she did have sex (or threaten to have sex mwahahaha) with the Emmy accountants that's why she won.

Just for the record, I actually like Katherine Heigl and I don't hate Izzie Stevens. But I really don't think she deserved to win. She can act, yeah, but she pales SO MUCH in comparison to the other nominees. Especially to Sandra Oh. I was really surprised when I found out that she was nominated.

OK, I guess I need to explain some things here to Belgian Grey and Charlotte. :+)
No, I am not a School Principal. Yes, I am very aware of where Austrailia and Belgium are. Belgium is a beautiful country in Europe, north of France, south of The Netherlands and west for Germany. Austrailia is a southern hemisphere continent south of Indonesia and northwest of New Zeland. {Geography is definatly one of my stronger subjects in school, spelling, not so much}
When I told you folks to go to bed, I was making the assumtion that you were young children, or at least hopng. I think it is a shame that grown adults act so infintile and immature over an actress who won a freaking award. And to completely trash her that way has got to be hurtful to her. You know I really didn't like the turn Izzie Stevens took this season but I think Katherine Heigl acted it perfectly. It was meant to be an annoying, aggrivating turn of character because of all she went through with Denny. And like many others I don't think she was the best choice this year (last year maybe) but I'm glad someone from Grey's won.
But I still don't understand the hating on the actress. And more than that I don't understand people being so vehemently angry at someone who did nothing to them personally to the point of acting like middle schools kids again. Why can't we have an intelligent grown up discussion about this instead of name calling and mud throwing?!?! Seriously!

I am with the majority here. Katherine Heigl bagging the Emmy is one big joke. I totally agree with those who said that her win is such an insult to the other nominees. If I were them, I'd feel really violated and would have filed a complaint or something.
