Does anyone know exactly how many episodes Lauren Stamille will star in?

They can't be done for! I can't even picutre Derrick with another woman. If that happens Meridith needs to go sleep with McSteamy or something. That would piss of Derrick. Meridith and Derrick make the show work!

I completely agree with lucylu. Shonda has to know that the Derek/Meredith relationship is the biggest reason why people love and watch the show, if she breaks them up for good, then the show is done for good.

Hey guys, i can't believe that Shonda would split Mer/Der up, she's said from the start that she's rooting for them. I think (being kinda optimistic) that Dempsey said those things becase he knew how fans would react- he was drumming up excitement/passion for the show so people would tune in!! when u think about it, what he actually said was "We'll have a cliffhanger with this last show and there will be a resolve that seems to be permanent..." SEEMS to be!! think about grey's in the past, all the times we thought mer/der was over: addison showing up, the whole finn thing, even the end of last season i was like, oh no, they're over! but they never quite are.
And that's why i think they'll get derek a new "love interest" to string out the drama a bit more; they're clearly teasing us because if mer/der was truely over they wouldn't have mer "trying to change", they'd just end it. but ultimately they know that even though its the whole package of characters make greys anatomy what it is,

I have to agree with most of the comments I read here. Mer/Der are the heart of this show and not having them together will feel like something is just terribly wrong. They love each other and they should be together. If they break up for good, it's going to be a very sad day for TV...and for the loyal Mer/Der fans. I wouldn't blame anyone who stops watching if yet another breakup were to happen.

if it really becomes true that derek dates this new tv-bitch and forgets his deep rooted love to meredith, the show will be absolutely lost. who wants to see such unrealistic rubbish anymore? MEREDITH AND DEREK ARE THE HEART OF THE SHOW!!!!!!! its so frustrating and sick to throw it all away what the show is about. and the thing with friends, i think, the end was so unbelievable and unrealistic that i'm not in favour of seeing the same shit again with meredith and derek. for me it's for sure, i will never watch it again should there be any sign of breaking them up forever in the next episode!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i'm sure, i'm not alone with this opinion

hey hold on he said it would be completely different. i am hoping that means that meredith starts to commit because he said movement. also i read that in 4.07 "derek will ask for more from meredith; much to his suprise" what does that mean?

do they mean dec/jan of next year? Because if that's what they mean then that sucks.
It's very unfortunate that this writters strike had to happen. I just don't see what they can get a piece of the action(like the dvd sales, itunes downloads, etc..)Hopefully this will be resolved soon but I doubt it. It seems like the writters really mean business. Good luck to the writters, I hope that they get what they need and deserve.
As for what Patrick said in this interview about Meredith-Derek relationship, I believe that he's just frustrated with the direction that his character's going period(with Meredith, with everything). But with this writters strike and the rumor 11 epsiodes if Grey's that is supposly going to air this year, I don't think he or anyone else on the cast is going to have to worry about the direction their character's will be going.

I just caught the end of an interview on "The Insider" show and I heard them talking with Shonda Rhimes about GA and the strike. It showed most of the cast at the studio all in their scrubs and she said they were filming their last episode then and there would probably not be no new shows Dec./Jan. So it sounds as if they will be done after they finish up this episode.
What A Bummer!
I can't believe we will have to wait 9 whole months for a new episode!

ok guys everyone is making valid points here. Let's all pray that the writers come to a conclusion with their contracts that they like and get back in the writers room!!!! If not, I know that I will be tuning into Season 5 whenever that happens.
Mer Der will happen, it is just going to take a while to get there.

I agree with so many of your posts above. I really think everybody needs to slow down and take a deep breath (including me). We all know from Ellen and Patrick that these two want their characters together and married. And we all know they have come to a position in their relationship where things need to change for the better (Meredith needs to commit to him or they will split up). And from what we have seen so far this season, you would think they were heading in the right direction. And Patrick didn't say they were splitting...NO... he said that he was looking forward to the change and natually we are hoping that it is with Meredith! All the spoilers I have read about them for upcoming episodes have been positive. Even with the new love interest showing up (which we all knew was coming) it was like this was going to be the shake up Meredith needed and there may be a proposal for Feb. sweeps or by season end! Again, I can't believe Shonda would break them up after everything the

I wanna say some more things :p
Success isn't always a good thing... Even with grey's. The first season was kinda try out. It worked, millions of people were watching so they came back with season 2. Another great season. After season 2, people started to have wishes , concerning the characters. Shonda & co wanted to make it as good as the previous seasons: not abnormal if you know how many people are watching. It's about lots of money. So they kept on searching for new storylines and specialties. But instead, we got a 'dark' season. People were divided in 2 groups; the fans who loved season 3, and the ones who became more critical: not everyone loved season 3 like season 1 and 2. So Shonda & co wanted to make an extra effort. And I think there's the mistake. In the beginning, they were just trying to make a good show. Now, they are too much focussed on success, viewers, money. I think there's a lot of pressure for these writers, and now they are just trying TOO HARD to make

OMG, only 11 episodes? I don't think Grey's will survive season 5 then? What the hell is happening? I thought this would be a great season, like season 1 and 2?
After reading Dempsey's words and seeing the spoilers here with Derek's possible new love interest, the Mer look a like, I don't feel like believing they're gonna be together...
I read another interview with Ellen Pompeo, she said they wouldn't get married this season because of the wedding from Burke and Cristina last season.
She also said that she was tired of talking about MerDer, everybody was asking for years "what about MerDer". But she said ' I'm sick of talking about Meredith and Derek, but as long as I get my salary, I don't mind talking about them".
In a way you can't blame them..
But damn , I am so disappointed after reading this article....

There's a reason why people are tuning out and they should be allowed give their opinion. We have been told by the people at Grey's to have faith for a long time now. How can we? Seriously. They've killed MerDer. I knew when i heard Derek give that marriage speech that it would be a long time before we heard another one. It was bad timing and bad writing considering Derek didn't mean a word of it. Hello he's datin again. It is hard to have faith especially when Patrick is quite bluntly killin it.

I think PD said it all--- Meredith and Derek need some time away from each other and their relationship isn't going to progress for awhile, but I wouldn't give up yet: Shonda and the writers aren't stupid, they know the show is quickly dropping and the ratings are tanking. They're completely aware that everyone's getting sick of the whole Mer/Der drama and I'm sure something will happen. They're not permanently over. And also, everyone cool down for a second and remember that only 11 episodes have been written and the writers like to keep secrecy about future developments so it's very possible that PD may not know what's going on later in the season, and he's stating his own opinions. So let's not get ahead of ourselves.
But the whole strike thing sucks. I understand that the writers want more money, and I hope everything is resolved so the season isn't cut short!
Keep your fingers crossed everyone...
hmm...
November 6th, 2007 3:29 PM
People, look at what he actually says, and not the spin the author of the article put on his words. The spin makes it sound bad, but PD didn't say anything we already didn't know. We all know that Mer has to work out issues, and this season was supposed to be the bottom line for this couple. However, the strike limited the number of episodes for season 4 (only 11 or so) which means things may not happen as originally planned, so the resolution most of us want (MerDer together) may and I stress may be delayed until season 5 starts...
Just don't believe the worse because one author put a negative spin on pretty neutral words from PD.

It would be totally insane for them to completrely break up MerDer. I believe it takes them all to make the show what it is but MerDer are an important part of what keeps people watching every week.
