American Idol will air its eighth season in January.

But auditions kicked off last week, with over 7,000 hopefuls reportedlty showing up in San Francisco to pursue their dreams of being the next David Cook or Carrie Underwood.

• July 25: Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix, Arizona
• July 29: EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah
• August 2: Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico
• August 8: Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missour
• August 13: Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florid
• August 19: IZOD Center at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
