I am enjoying reading everyones comments on here! Everyone is so passionate about the show. We all know Derek won't die.....but regardless if the clip is real or a dream it was the most outstanding emotional preformance I have seen in a long time.....and it seems we all think so. Just wanted to say that I love the site.....and Grey's Fans ROCK!!!!

Yea so I realize it is a dream because they would not premier a big story like that, they would leave us hanging plus he is signed for this season and next I am sure of. But still I HATED SEEING HIM LYING ON THAT TABLE!!!! I love Dempsey and absolutely hated that!!!!! But I know its not real bc I have even seen pictures of him working on the set with the new dr....still gave me chills :(

OK, I agree, Gloria-- we fans leave no room for disappointment!!! Shonda knows that the survival of the show is dependent on MerDer togetherness and that we are all anticipating some long-awaited sexy MerDer scenes. That being said...
I don't know if this is a dream... or a flashback. (someone else suggested a flashback). Maybe Der did have an accident that night when he went back to break it off w/ Rose-- Maybe we are seeing a moment when everyone is about to give up on saving Der during that time (someone is reflecting back on this) and then (the part we don't see) someone rallys (as Cristina did for Mer after her drowning) and says no-- you have to try again! Maybe Season 5 starts out months down the road from that night and they are simply flashing back to the horrible accident and what almost was... or maybe the dream part w/ Denny, etc. happens to Der as he struggles to hang on to life... maybe... ????
See, it is heart wrenching to watch that scene---

Sex shoud suffer a bit since they are going to merry. Remember the elevator kiss scene in Season 1. The husbands ussually dont kiss in this way their wifes just prostitutions....
What we can expect that they both will pass successfully
trough some obsticles and troubles. In any marrige there are any..

Okay, It's bad enough that it's 3:00am on the east coast, and I'm up because I'm so hyped about the show coming Sept 25th. Can't think about anything else but Grey's these past few weeks.
This scene is not believeable because this is season 5. If this was season 7 then I would say "Shonda you got me on this one." There is NO WAY DER is DEAD . We Mer/Der fans have been waiting far too long for SEX, SEX,and more SEX from these two.
We Mer/Der fans have NO ROOM for DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

Yes!!!!! I LOVE ELLEN POMPEO! Who else can scream so annoyingly, yet cause such a great rush of emotions. Who can scream, make you want to turn the volume down, yet you don't because a chill goes down your spine because at that moment you can feel what she feels? ELLEN POMPEO ROCKS!

Of course it's a dream. In what scenario would they let mer anywhere near derek if he was dying? And how did they know that he tried to swerve to miss the bus if they weren't there...it's definitively a dream.
Haha, shonda and everyone thought that this sneak peek would make us all CRAZY, but she can't fool us :D

This does happen after they meet in the field of candles because she is wearing the same outfit in this sneek preview as she was in the season finali!

I remember reading the four possibilities that Ausiello gave us, and I am going to go ahead and assume that this sneak peek is a dream sequence, then, since something has to happen for real, I have to think that it's the Rose stabs Derek idea, but with her words, not literalaly. Can't wait for season 5, it's gonna be great!!!

I agreee with everybody, its gotta be a dream they wouldnt kill off a huge character, especially after the season 4 finale scene
the episode is even called dream a little dream of me
and on the greys anatomy podcast shonda rimes said herself that nothing was going to happen to meredith
