Yes alex is a jerk. He keeps playing thsoe mental games with Izzie and making out with other girls. He is too coward to take a risk and absues her to make up for his own inaduecies as a man. George is a million times the man he is.
I agree, if Shonda does not at least give us the Gizzie friendship back, I am done with this show. My cousin quit two episodes ago when she realized Shonda was so desperate to act like George and Izzie were total strangers and make us forget them. Well we will never forget them, Shonda, but yopu continue that way and we will all forget your stupid show. You can't not post our comments all you want on Grey matter but we are still there and we are still mad.

I think Alex progressed in season 3 but has been regressing in season 4 and 5. Funny how he always does that with izzie. His whole life revolves around her and that is pretty sick and not at all sane. He admits to lashing out at her and treating her like dirt because nobody else will take it and he spend the whole of last episode telling her to shut up. He is now sleeping with her and someone else at the same time. I don,t see this as growing.
The Gizzie fans want them together. We always will. They were the best couple on the show because they were equals, respected each other and loved each other unconditionnaly but like Millie said, Shonda is too much of a coward to go back there so any better guy would work. I wouldn't love them but I wouldn't hate them either.
But I still want George and Izzie to have that connection and bond they always had,. to be at least best friends, and if I don't see this connection restored, I will conti nue not watching, plain and simple.

I think that Alex is progressing, he is bringing up becoming exclusive, although in his own backwards way. I don't think he wants to sleep with anyone but Izzie, but he needs to see that she wants that too. During their 2nd time together, she was just using him for sex and she has said some terrible things to Alex over the years as well.
I know that lots of G/I fans hate Alex, but just remember that although he has been a jerk lately, that isn't all he is. He has also been supportive and sweet to Izzie, Meredith, Bailey, Cristina, etc. Just like George isn't just an adulterer and Izzie isn't just an organ stealing, LVAD wire cutter. They all have good and bad qualities.

greysaddiction, I think you may have cracked it with your solomon like last post!!!! I asked earlier if there were a good compromise between AI and GI and I do believe you have discovered it.
"I can accept Izzie with someone else right now-- why not try someone like Mark with Izzie?" or "give Alex something positive that makes Izzie not want to give up on him."
Awesome prescriptions Dr. Greysaddiction! Even if it isn't Mark, perhaps your right. Could the solution be to find her someone "outside the box?" Are there any other possibilities besides Mark? Intriguing.
It sounds to me like what Gizzie fans most want, even beyond seeing Izzie with George, is to see her connect with someone who is growing rather regressing. AI fans should be able to support that concept. The basis for common ground, perhaps? I commend your addiction AND your analysis! (Shonda, are you listening? Shonda? Has anyone seen....? Well...that might be too much to hope for. But Dream a little Dream etc...

Verbal abuse is as bad as physical abuse. It kills you and your spirit completely and Alex is verbally abusive. Last week with the big hyped AI kiss, Grey didn,t even make it to the top 10 for the first time in years. People like me boycotted the episode because of the Alex and Izzie kiss. Their fans might spam the polls but the ratings are quite clear, we don't like Alex and Izzie and we will not watch as long as abusive is promoted as romance.

Alex & Izzie. This is disgusting. She's right in saying he acts like a barbarian. Izzie needs to get some self-value here and walk away. So, poor wounded Alex is testing her, so poor wounded Alex is so broken he doesn't know how to treat a partner with respect. What woman has not had some phase of her life when she always wanted the jerk-guy, the wounded bird that could still love on some level and was only going to love just her and she would/could fix him??? So, you want to say it's realistic? Fine, I guess you might have something there. But I can tell you that NONE of us who have matured beyond this twisted way of seeking a relationship wants to relive it by watching our favorite characters degrade themselves the same way that we have finally learned not to.

I was reading all the discussion and I thoink tvfanny made the most sense, except for one thing. As a Gizzie fan, I feel extremely ignored by this show. I know every couple have to break up one day on TV but the way they went about it, especially at the end making us believe they had great sex then saying they didn't and the whole chemistry you either have it or you don't, it felt like a huge slap in the face to all of us who thought they had more chemistry than anyone on the show. Then having George and Izzie constantly act like it was a drunken mistake when the story was portrayed as love and MOST OF ALL, the complete lack of any scenes with them for the last few months now.
I feel ignored and not respected, and I don't want to watch a show thta makes me feel so bitter and irrelevant.
I also hate Al;ex and Izzie. I could have stand Izie with someone else but putting her with a guy so opposite of George. A guy who is sleeping with her and another woman per the sneak peek and wh

After all they have been through in the past seasons,they need to settle down once and for all. It won't be too far-fetched ,but they should seriously think of getting married to each other.

Daniella, it sounds like you have some legitimate causes for being annoyed. Especially if people were blocking you from airing the grievances that you had. That's annoying.
Also, I suspect that you're right that a few motivated fans can probably unduly influence the feedback that a network gets about a show, and in rare cases I imagine that might lead to an adjustment in the writing.
Everyone has a favorite couple on the show, and it makes sense that you would be hurt that the couple you were rooting for didn't get a fair shake. On the other hand, story lines have to evolve or the show stagnates.
You don't need to show restraint if you'd like to rant a bit. Go for it.
But here's the thing. I've never seen a diatribe change anyone's mind about anything. The bottom line is that all TV shows including Grey's not only respect their audience, they are desperate for the audience's approval. There is absolutely no advantage to a show to deliberately annoy it's audience. Trust me,

Hey i would show respect for AI and their fans even though I loathe the couple to death if they had shown us Gizzie fans any ounce of respect when they were together. No, we had Gizzard sucks, Gizzard are incest, if Gizzard is together, I will quit watching. It made me so mad because throughout the Alex and Izzie disgusting sex games of season 2, I shut my trap out of respect for their fans and they couldn't even give us the same respect. They threatened and they whined until not onoly was our couple dropped but they didn't even share 30 seconds of airtime together. The Gizzie fans waited 4 freaking seasons for this couple to get together and we couldn't even enjoy it because of those people and now we have absolutely nothing, Assiello threw a party when they ended even though the Gizzie fans were heartbroken.
So it makes me beyond mad that now we are suppose to be all mature and respectful when we were never given the same curtesy by those same people who now ask it of ut.

(Julz, thanks for agreeing with me earlier. I think that's the first time in my life anyone has "TOTALLY agreed" with me about anything.)
For the record, I think that all fans and former fans should post.
Out of curiosity, can anyone think of some compromise between the GI and AI camps, and send it along to Shonda. I hate it when true fans can't get along. There should be enough love and hotness to go around. In defense of AI, I do think it is true to life that characters are not always attracted to and/or with the people who are best for them. I totally get that people may not want to watch that necessarily, but am I a total loser to think that it might come down to a matter of taste? As long as there is a good mix of healthy and dysfunctional relationships on the show, me, I'm happy.

Actually we have every right to post. I remember when Gizzie were together, people who claimed to hav quit still posted how much they hated Gizzie. So we have every right to post. if we don't Shonda will not even know how many people are angry at her.
And why should we move on? Did the AI fans ever move on when their couple was broken up for three years? So why should we?
Alex and izzie suck. They have no chemistry. They are boring. They are sick. They are toxic. They are everything that could be wrong in a couple.
George and Izzie, as friends and as a couple, were always the heart and soul of the show, the spark. And it is that speark that has been missing since Shonda has been too gutless to give us more than one scene with those two. Because God knows having them even friends again would create the apocalypse or something.
And yes that latest kiss between Alex and Izzie had allo the passion of two dead fishes kissing.

I really love them as a couple. They are great for the show. They have so much chemistry. Gizzie fans need to move on. Get a life. You guys have no right to give comment because you don't watch the show anymore. Gizzie storyline.....boring and not interesting at all.

No I can't empathize with the characters. The whole story makes Izzie seem desperate and pathetic and Alex like someone who chooses to be a jerk. On another poll, this couple won most dysfunctional couple by a large margin and I don,t like dysfunctional couples.
Even if I wasn't a Gizzie fan, i wouldn,t want those two together. They are a train wreck waiting to happen and to me anyone who loves this couple is promoting and encouraging abuse.
No I used to watch for the whole show but in season 3, the show went downhill and only the Gizzie love story salvaged it.
It was pure, unconditional love and it was amazing. The way they would smile and look at each other like they were the most beautiful person on the planet for each other. They had the kind of love everyone dreams of having. That is until Shonda let a few shallow losers get her to drop them.
It is kind of difficult to threaten when Grey matter won't even post any of our comments, is it? censuring always works.

I hate Alex and Izzie. They are the same predictable Ken and Barbie boring couple with Ken being an abusive jerk in that case, but still boring Ken. They are the most predictable couple on the planet.
I don't have to threaten Shonda. I quit the show when Gizzie ended and judging by the ratings, millions other people did. It doesn't seem Alex and Izzie in all their boringness are attracting the fans to the show.
Why did I quit the show? Because the show used to be good and now it is boring and predictable and soapish. I realized the relationship between George and Izzie had kept me watching. It was the one thing that wasn't predictable and lame.

I think that's quite unfair and please, it was soo clear that Alex and Izzier would get together again, so I don't really think that it's because of the fans...
Maybe George and Izzier just weren't meant to be.. I mean, from their first moment together, everything went wrong...and I am sorry for their fans that they're not friends anymore...

I love Alex and Izzie.. It's definetly realistic and something to work on.. It's not predictable.. And It's a storyline where you can honestly empathize with the characters. I sure as hell have dated guys like alex.. Who are broken but just need someone to let them know that someone actually cares.. I've been Izzie many times.. And alex is definetly going to learn how to love and acept love.. Now I LOVE.. LOVE.. LOVE.. MerDer... but everything doesn't have to be so bright and shiny and childlike all the time. Derek is the teacher and Meredith is the student in that relationship.. Typical girl boy.. MerDer has been through hell.. But they've also had some very good times and touching moments.. Alex never had that. And who better to give it to him than izzie.. The ultimate optimist. With Alex and Izzie you have 2 people fighting something bigger than themselves.. Izzie surrending to the fact that denny is gone and she has to move and give her love to someone else.. And Alex finally seein
