I really liked Dr Erica Hahn. She was able to take on McDreamy and McSteamy.
In fact I prefer her character over Callie's, who is just plain annoying this season.
I can't understand why she could not stay on in her own right if she has to break up up with Callie. That would have been interesting seeing how the two women handle being around each other after a break up.
It's a bad move to axe her and the ratings are going to get worse not better.
It's clear the suits don't like a strong female character, only one that can sleep around all the time with the men!

Also, what the heck does any of this have to do with TR? Now you guys are just making ABC & Shonda out to be homophobes. Shut up, TR is fine. They can't fire him from the show for being gay, it doesn't affect anything on the show at all. Wow, you all are petty.

This is so unfair and homophobic! Brooke Smith is an amazing actress in everything she's ever been in, and as Hahn she was perfect and had great chemistry with Callie! I can't believe they're letting her go without an explanation or goodbye (on the show) or anything. So sad...
All I can hope for now is that we see Brooke on another show and/or movie soon. Best of luck to her!

I am not a big Hahn fan and didn't think there was chemistry between Callie & Hahn, but I do feel very bad for Brooke Smith being dropped just like that. I also think it's bad that Shonda thinks she has to say it's not because the character is a lesbian, if the character was hetrosexual nothing would have been said.
I don't buy that Callie is going to be the lesbian in the show, at this stage she really wants a relationship with Mark more than she does (did) with Hahn, so is that going to suddenly change?
I have not watched Private Practice, but I think that trying to write two shows is starting to have a negative effect on one, and that one is Grey's. Shonda should stop PP and concentrate on Grey's and get it back to the quality of S1-3 otherwise we might not get to see the interns reach the end of their story.

I for one am glad that this whole Callica crap is over. It's not that I'm a homophobic person or whatever, but dear God, Erica has no emotion at all. She is sooo stiff, Callica situations were just awkward and painful to watch. I sat there and cringed trhough every one of them. Sure, they're new at the whole lesbian thing but omg, they're like.. Ew. I've never really liked Erica at all on Grey's. She comes in as the new Burke & automatically assumes the role of God. Everyone knows that the role of God can only be filled by Preston Burke or Miranda Bailey, definitely NOT Erica Hahn. She has always been horrible to Cristina, and Cristina is one of my favorite characters so obviously that does not sit well with me.
Hahn is just not a people person, and to be at SGH, you need to be a people person at least to some degree. If Callie really was a lesbian, which she isn't, Mallie ftw, she could do so so so much better than Hahn. I don't even see what all they have in common, if anything

Doesn't really matters if you are gay or straight, but it was so unfair!! I mean, the woman has moved to LA with all her family and then ABC just let her go like that!
It's not even like she was a bad actress. She was a pretty good indeed! (Although I found a little over the top all that thing with the leaves, I was convinced with it.)

I have just posted a comment pretty similar to this on afterellen (in case any of you think you're seeing double)- but right now I am so sickened that I can't seem to think properly!
I am literally just after reading this story on the text here at home in Ireland. Poor Brooke - to just land that on top of her when she thought she had a secure jobis just awful - ABC are disgraceful - they should be totally ashamed! She uprooted her whole family, her husband and her 2 little girls, to give her all to this role and then they just fire her - they are a joke.
All I can say is - if in 2008 people are still that narrow minded (I know Shonda said that it was nothing to do with the lesbian content - but all of a sudden Melissa George's character isn't going to be a new love interest for Callie, or even overtly bi by the sounds of thing!) then I don't hold out much hope at all.
All I can say to Brooke is - you're a star, you brought such grit to this role, and just as we start to see a

Ok wow - I'm not saying it's bad to voice strong opinions, but we don't even know the whole story here. Maybe - most likely - it was not just because of the Callica story line that Brooke was fired. Maybe ABC just thought she wasn't fitting in with the other characters (which everyone should admit was true, after all). Erica grew on me, and though I didn't hate the Callica storyline, I did think it took up way too much of the airtime in recent episodes. Like Newfan said, Isaiah Washington was fired for saying something negative about TR, who, as everyone knows, is gay himself, so I don't think ABC is anti-gay or anything like that.
Don't go blaming ABC and saying Grey's is a terrible show when you don't know the whole story, people.
Now, if I'm wrong - if Brooke really was just fired because of the Callica storyline - then criticize me all you want. But we don't know the whole story here.
And please, when they bring in the new cardio surgeon - give her (or is it him?) a

Are you surprised? TPTB only listen to ABC and TWOP fans, who are pretty much the same people posting on both boatrds, those people also post on ABC advisory panel. Those are the people TPTB listen to and they hate Callica and hate George because TR is gay and bash the three of them and wanted them gone. Well they got their wish with Callica then TR, my favorite, will probably be next. I hate the show. If TR leaves too, I am done.
