Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: More Denny, George, Mark & Lexie

at . Comments

Michael Ausiello of EW has a lot of good stuff on Grey's Anatomy in his weekly spoiler Q&A today. He covers everything from the absence of George to the portrayal of Dr. Dixon, to Mark Sloan and "Little Grey" and more on Hahn's dismissal. Here goes ...

Q: Tell me more about this Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice crossover. I'm intrigued.

A: It'll take place over the course of three episodes (February 5, 12, and 19) and the only confirmed participant as of now is Kate Walsh.

Double D

Q: I didn't think Shonda Rhimes could ever come up with anything worse than Gizzie on Grey's Anatomy, but this ghost Denny business is about one episode away from officially being the worst thing the show has ever done. Please tell me it will be over soon!

A: Afraid not. Denny will be haunting Izzie at least through February. In possibly related news, the title of episode 14 is "Beat Your Heart Out." Hmmm....

Q: Is Mary McDonnell going to be back on
Grey's Anatomy? I loved her Dr. Dixon. I watched last week's episode thinking she'd be back, but she wasn't.

A: Her second of three episodes, "All By Myself," airs December 4. Personally, I wasn't a fan. You know I worship the ground McDonnell walks on, but I found her Asperger's depiction a tad over the top. And I'm not alone. Megan, a self-proclaimed Aushole and Asperger's sufferer, called the portrayal "robotic and single focused - which we are but not to that degree. Grey's Anatomy missed the boat on this one. Instead of normal with slight social misperceptions, it came off as a bad version of a high-functioning autistic, and they're two different things."

Q: Enough with Izzie-Denny and Cristina-Owen. I'm surprised that no one has asked about another "situation" that I've noticed on Grey's Anatomy since the season began: The slow and steady flirtation between Mark and Lexie. Where are they going with this?

A: To first base in early '09, and I can't wait. McSteamy is actually making Lexie (gulp) interesting.

Q: Why has T.R. Knight had only a few scenes per episode on Grey's Anatomy recently?

A: I did some digging and, unfortunately, there's nothing juicy to report. I'm told it's just part of the natural ebb and flow of storylines. He'll start flowing again next year when he gets mixed up in the Alex-Izzie-Denny story, but not in any romantic sort of capacity. Shonda may be kooky but she's not a masochist.

Q: How come ABC has issues with lesbians on Grey's Anatomy, but no problem with all the guy-on-guy make-out sessions on Brothers & Sisters?

A: I honestly don't think the suits at ABC are scared of gay men or lesbians. They just despised the character of Erica Hahn and her romance with Callie Torres. And as soon as they had proof that the audience agreed, they dumped Brooke Smith. As an ABC insider explained, "In the process of doing some maintenance polling, the sample group for Grey's Anatomy hated the Callie/Erica coupling while still liking Callie."

More Mer/Der moments please! Its season 5 and I think the majority of us have forgotten why Meredith and Derek got together in the first place... and I can't wait to see where Christina and Mcbada** go from here! ...lastly, I do think that Izzie and Alex need to have this one last tribulation before they can have a happy relationship together, but I agree with most fans, the show should have casted some of Denny's family members to come back with some unfinished business with Izzie. On one hand, if Sloan is like beer bongs, then Lexie is like a shirley temple. However, you can't blame Shonda for wanting to have a little fun after seeing Lexi defend George in front of Sloan. I do think Sloan is impressed with Lexipedia's ability to remember many things, but other than that I don't think that a Lexi/Sloan relationship would last very long...and I think George will start to have more air time when something crazy happens and he realizes he does have feelings for Lexi :D I think Mark will be the one to put Lexi back on the right track to become a great surgeon, because obviously, Lexi isn't turning to George when she has a we need a character like Mark who has the ability to be blunt, abrasive, with the ability to show a softer side during the most surprising times. I love Brooke Smith but Erica Hahn's character was too stiff. We all know that characters just don't get their happy ending that easy. When Callie and Erica's story fizzled there was nowhere for Erica to turn; she had absolutely no relationships with any other characters and there wasn't any reason for her to stay. Perhaps if Erica had softened up her relationship with Yang or continued some kind of friendship with Sloan earlier on in the episodes she might have had a chance. Keep going Shonda!

Shonda, if you're reading this, please listen. Stop giving Christina "relationships" with men that she doesn't talk to. How can you have a relationship with someone if you never talk to them? At least Izzie and Alex and Meredith and Derek converse. I'm so sick of men starring at Christina in scene 1, fighting with her in scene 2 and then randomly kissing her in scene 3.

I think perhaps if they want Denny/Izzie to succeed, perhaps they could write in a twin brother to Denny (Lenny perhaps) played by the same actor. I don't agree with the writers killing Denny so soon and they are paying for it now. I believe whole-heartedly that Izzie would be much happier if there was a twin to Denny--that way the actor could portray a living character. I think Alex would be the best match for Lexie, given Izzie with "Lenny." I like Owen-Christina, for they seem to be cut from the same cloth with drive to success. Perhaps George is not destine for Romance, but he does need more air time! Does anyone know how to write ABC about this?

I have watched this show from the beginning. Izzie has always been a favorite although I did not like the Izzie/George episodes, it seemed out of character to me. Now Izzie/DEAD Denny. Don't get me wrong, I was so excited to see Denny come back but I had assumed it would be in a dream or something. Relationships with the dead.... I don't think so. This show has such good characters that I hate to see it making such STUPID story lines.

Until FEBRUARY???!!! COME ON! What IS this show, and what has it done with the awesome Grey's Anatomy?! I mean... FEBRUARY???!!!

OK there is no way in hell George would ever root for Izzie tio be with jerk Alex. And let's face it, happy Alex and Izzie is the most boring thing on Earth. I love JC but he does horrible as sweet, romantic guy. Now TR is king at it. I will always hope George and Izzie get back together. Their relationship was so much purer and stronger than the one between she and Alex, but if she isn't with george, anyone but Alex, ABA. They are the worst couple on the history of TV. They might actually make me quit the show forever. mark and Lexie are second behind. Hello she looks like his kid! Gross, even his nickname for her is gross.

I actually became hooked on Grey's just this past summer watching the re-runs. Since then, I've rented past episodes to get "caught-up" and I've actually watched them backwards (watched season 4, then 3 and I just finished 2). Watching season 2 actually enlightened me on a lot that's happening now. Right before Izzy cut Denny's cord to the heart monitor thing - she said "If you see a light, do NOT go into it - stay away from the light!" Well apparently he listened to her and now he's in limbo!! There is a reason he's back now - whether it's medical with Izzy or not, I don't know. At first I thought he was here to make sure she was now going to be ok with Alex, but Alex hated him and he hated Alex back in season 2, maybe that's why he's back? So it's kind of like a mystery, or at least I hope it's going to be that interesting. But I feel sorry for Alex. She dumped him for Denny in season 2 and now she's doing it again, but for a ghost!!!

No I think this whole Dizzie thing is here to prove that there might be a possibility for Izzie to truly fall in love with someone else other Denny. Denny was her soulmate/ultimate love. Apparently Izzie hasn't moved on yet. She thought she has when she slept with George in season 3&4 or with Alex in season 5 but she hasnt. The patient from episode 7 just reminded her of her repressed memories of Denny and her guilt. Mckidd said this storyline is based on Truly Madly something. I googled it and the movie is about this girl who lost her fiance from some kind of accident. When she is about to go out with her new boyfriend, her dead fiance comes back to haunt her. In the end, the ghost becomes so annoying that she has to let him go. then she falls in love with her new boyfriend. and then we know that her fiance came back to annoy her because he wanted her to move on. Shonda also said Alex and Izzie will grow together this year. Maybe this is Izzie's big love story because she has to find a way to get over her dead fiance and be happy. i love George and Izzie as friends! I hope he will help bringing Alex and Izzie closer. Here are some similarities i found in the next episode: Denny and Izzie making out in the on call room and Alex barged in just like when Alex was having sex with Olivia and Izzie caught them in season 2.
The D/I/A triangle is pretty much similar to the old one in season 2 except this time it seems like Alex is the good guy and Denny is the annoying one. I guess George maybe the one who will confront Izzie about her recent behavior. They need to repair their friendship asap!

I hate Alex and Izzie, and love Denny, but even I am starting to find this ridiculous. Do they have to destroy Dizzie just to prop up Alex and Izzie? can't they stand on their own? I am starting to think Shonda has as much faith in Alex and Izzie as a couple as I do, which means none, but then they should just put Izzie with someone else, preferrably George but any other guy would do. George and Lexie could be a great couple I think if given a chance but like Gizzie, they don't seem to be, so my guess is Shonda really doesn't want George to ever find love, because he keeps losing love to other guys that deserve it less than him.

I really hate Denny and Izzie thing as well ... I want Alex and Izzie to be together and have peace.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.
