Grey's Anatomy Returns Tonight; Private Practice to Follow

It says a lot about Grey's Anatomy that its spinoff Private Practice, once thought to have locked up the honor of Most Mediocre Show in history, has arguably been the better of the two so far this season. At least no one at Oceanside has slept with a ghost yet.

Tonight, ABC officially merges the lackluster Shonda Rhimes duo into one night, with Private Practice following Grey's Anatomy at 10. Has a month off given Grey's a chance to retool and improve its plot lines? Who knows, but the promos for this week are good.
