I am really surprised this site hasn't mentioned Aussiello's rumor about Izzie living and George dying in her place? I am seriously upset at this. Can't George, the sweetest character on the show, ever catch a break? I am so sick of it.
And yes, McCynic, many characters weren't mentioned but all those characters got ample screentime this year. George has had about 50 minutes in 16 episodes, if that. So yeah when he is not mentioned, it usually means he will have two seconds.

ok...howz this for a solution to the Der quitting issue--After doing some digging into his past case he or some one close to him (hinthint) realizes that the majority of the cases that he sees were inoperable or something and he tried giving those families hope or a chance or whatever. I mean come on--he saved Archer and countless other patients come to him after being told they were dead. i find it hard to believe that the majority of his patients have died without some other underlying reason or whatever.

Mark, Lexie and snoopy Derek: This scene in the bar? Did I miss it? Was it cut out? Is it coming up in another episode. We've been seeing this photo for some time now, but I don't really remember seeing it in the show.
I rather half expected Derek to have to either take some forced leave, sabbatical or even threaten to quit. With the photos of scruffy faced Derek, I imagine he's not his usual happy morning person for sometime. I have no fear. Even if he quits, I think it will be temporary and he won't be leaving the show. MacSmitty

Anne, I think it's possible but IMO it'd be way to fast. Owen needs to get it together before he can marry Cristina. They have a long road ahead but let's hope that they keep it the same way.
As for the speech, they were told under different circumstances. Derek wanted to wake Mer up, Owen was trying to make a statement but they're both lovely gestures.

The "I want to be around..." was definitely a proposal for a long term relationship, for a love story, for i'm-in-freaking-sweet-love-with-you, you-rock-my-world, i-like-the-back-of-your -neck, i-see-us-going-waaaay-farer, BUT HEY, let them date already !!
they are so my favorite.

Oh and I don't think that Cristina and Owen are getting married this season. It's too soon. They barely know each other. And the being around for 40 years thing? Sounded a little bit rip-off from Derek's 'I want a lifetime' speech. Nonetheless, it was sweet.
I'd love to see Owen also get his act together and get some sort of counseling for the clear PTSD that he's suffering from. Cristina can't afford to be stood up at the altar again.

I loved that "I want to be around 40 years from now" scene too! It was perfect. Made me melt into a puddle on the floor. I agree that it was kind of an indirect proposal to her.

Okay, I know it sounds crazy, but I'm gonna say it anyway. The more I watch Grey's, the more I think that Owen and Cristina are getting married this season... And before Derek and Meredith. I mean, the "I want to be around 40 years from now"? That totally sounded like a proposal to me, albeit indirectly. It's kind of like saying "I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Ah, Owen Hunt! I just love him to pieces.
