It's a bad sign when major stars leawe a show they have been on since the pilotepisode! Cos let's face it this isn't just 'Meredithville', the show is about every single one of those interns we were introduced to in the pilot! This is a bad move on the part of the actors and TPTB should they give them permission to go! And lastly, it is a bad sign!

Maybe the reason nothing is adding up is because it's just another publicity stunt?!

I think Katherine Heigl was right in her decision to pull out of the Emmy's. After all it is her right to do so, and if she doesn't feel she was given Emmy worthy work, and other actresses were, that weren't nominated, why NOT pull out. It's just like any other competition, if you know you aren't given the best choreography, but still dance the steps well enough to be awarded, should you still let yourself get an award? I don't know I know everyone has their own opinions on this, but I don't feel she was wrong to pull her name out....I mean Season 4 she really didn't have any Emmy worthy moments...Ellen, or Chandra, or Christina did...but think back...Katie really didnt....

Hopefully this will all be a rumour and shonda and ABC will stick to thier word and we'll still see them playing izzie and george next season.

Also, if you read the rest of the Ausiello article, it says they are discussing kicking them off and then bringing both of them back next season for a few episodes (arc). Meaning Izzie is leaving, but not dying? But she has cancer? But it's actually something similar to an aneurism? It just doesn't add up.

Well if anyone would bother with checking the ratings they would see grey's is still ABC's nr 1 show each week, so no, it wont flatline. Id rather say they would cut Private Practice and bring Addison back, maybe even Sam, and focus on GA only rather than PP aswell.
As for Kathrine, i like her character, the Denny thing might be a bit "extreme" but im pretty sure its heading somewhere. And even if the story line isnt all that, she still got an award for the role of Izzy. If she wants to do movies, fine, but the slap in the face she gave the writers was not realy needed, now was it.
And T.R well, his reasons i can understand, he barely gets any air time, altho i realy do not know why he is beeing cut out. Whatever the resons they must be pretty good...

I guess the show won't be the same when two of the five interns we fell in love with in the beginning, are going to leave the show. But if they don't want to stay, just let them go.
T.R doesn't get much airtime these days and, as much as I hate to admit it, I've lost my interest in him. I don't blame him if he wants to leave. I like Izzie, and it won't be the same thing without her. But if none of them wants to be there, how fun is it to watch?
Madison-- YES. I am extremely irritated. What the hell.

WOOOAAAHHH writing out both TR and Katherine is a BIG mistake. The show will crash after one season.
Is there ANY way that this isn't true? I just can't imagine they would do something this stupid. They must know it will be bad for the show.
As for everyone asking "What the hell is up with Katherine Heigl", her reasons are pretty legitimate. She's played Izzie for five years and if she continues to play her for however many more seasons, she's concerned she will always be seen as IZZIE. She's worried about her career. She's had some awesome story lines and great opportunities and she isn't saying that she hasn't. She just doesn't want to be stuck in Grey's Anatomy for the rest of her acting career.

GreysinVT, DITTO to what you said.
I agree I do like the other characters, but the show is NOT just about Meredith, and Derek. Shonda said it herself at the Paley film festival, the ORIGINAL concept was about a group of interns. Yes Meredith is that narorator, but without the other interns it just isn't the same grey's anatomy. Not to say I'm going to stop watchin it, but I know deep down it will never be the same, and that is sad. But if I was only getting 2 lines an episode, or given some ridiculous story line about having sex with a dead person, I can't say that I wouldnt do the same thing. Its just sad....I look forward to see how everything pans out this season and next...all I know is the cancellation of this show better NOT be in the future i would be worried about my well being lol

I have been a VERY loyal fan since day 1 of the Pilot and part of the hook was the chemistry between the 5 ORIGINAL Interns.... shows alwasy think they need new blood when infact you shouldn't change what wasn't broken. They should be focusing on coming up with better snappier storylines that bring back the magic from the first season. Without TR and Katherine (no matter how they are acting now) the show won't be the SAME at all. The way the group interacted and joked was perfect without them all you have is Mer, Christina, and Alex- BORING and even though I don't hate Lexi she can't take ANY of the orginal 5's place. If they Both really do leave I will probably stop watching......

I am an Izzie fan, AND a Katherine Heigl fan, I really can't believe this is happening. Like a lot of people I too have been a fan of this show since the very beginning, the first episode. For me Grey's was ALWAYS an escape from reality, to avoid all my problems, and Izzie was always the one I related to most on the show. I will still watch the show of course..however I agree with almost everything that "Millie" said. Everyone has their favorites of the show, and Izzie(Katie Heigl) was mine. I admired her outspoken-ness, while many people criticized it. She had a voice, and it spoke volumes for women everywhere like me, who feel their voice isn't heard. She didn't speak the words of her publicists, or lawyers or bosses, she spoke HER words, and for so many people to criticize and judge her for that, what message is that bringing? That if you say what's on your mind, then you'll be ridiculed for it. The story lines have been getting a little choppy, and a little out there, but the show

Oh I see the George and Izzie haters got there first. I don't care what you think. The erality is the huge majority of the fans love George and Izzie. George is the heart of the show, and Izzie is one of its biggest stars.
The show is going to have the biggest hole in it without them.
I have missed george so much this year. As for George not standing up for himself, well he used to. He did in seasons 3 and 4 before Shonda started writing George totally OOC and giving him 2 lines per episode.
George is the funniest awesomest character around, and I won't watch without him.

Oh my God that is horrible. I disagree about TR and Katie being the least talented. They probably are the MOST talented. This show has treated TR like dirt and he has every right to want better. As for Katie, she has given the show 5 years. That is more than enough. She doesn't owe them anything. People pursue other interests all the time.
I sure know I won't be watching without George and Izzie. They are the show for me.

i am an izzie fan but heigl clearly thinks she's some kind of big movie star an she wants to leave, so why stop her? and why should they even keep her after that emmy-incident? she totally deserved the denny storyline after that 'cause it litterally sucked. but since that storyline sucked it made the show go downhill so i think they should just let her go so the show can get better
and for t.r, it's fine by me if he leaves cause i've just gotten used to not see him anymore
ofc the show won't be as it's used to be if they'll leave, but if they really wwant to leave, just let them
I have been watching since the pilot as well and I highly disagree that T.R. and Katherine have the least talent. I do respect that certain people favor different characters more than others, that is normal. But for many people Katherine and T.R. were the heart of the show, especially when they were simply friends and nothing more. This will hurt the show simply because there are people who watch just for George, or just for Izzie, or for the five interns together. This might be the straw that breaks the camels back for Grey's. To have two HIGH PROFILE actors leave at the same time will not be good for ratings. But I cannot blame the two actors, nor coud I blame any actor on the show, for wanting to leave. The storylines have been poor all around and I will not lose any respect for those people who want to get the hell out of there. I don't think the actors themselves should be facing the blame for this. What is the common thread in the past 4 high profile departures.... BINGO, shonda
