Ellen Pompeo Baby Bump Watch!
Grey's Anatomy star and expectant mom Ellen Pompeo, who announced she is pregnant a week ago, brought along some adorable company - pet poodles Valentino and Gigi - while visiting a friend of hers in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday afternoon.
She sure makes a cute pregnant person ...
Ellen Pompeo is carrying three adorable creatures!
No word on how Pompeo's pregnancy will fit into the Grey's Anatomy universe. Will Meredith Grey become pregnant also? Will Ellen take a leave of absence? Will the producers use camera tricks or other disguises / approaches to disguise it until she gives birth?
That appears to be their approach with pregnant co-star Chyler Leigh, whose character, Lexie, was nervously stuffing her face with food at every opportunity last night!

Lexie: Mark, I'm dying. Please tell Meredith I love her and that she is a good sister.

A baby would be really good, for the script always changing but i dunno how that would work because Mer and Der work the same shifts.... it would be hard to write in would it not????

You know, I really think it would be cute to have a Mer/Der baby, but I think the comments made by "someone" above are right on. I have 3 kids, and as wonderful as it is to be a parent, it REALLY changes your life, and it would change the dynamics of Grey's entirely. But, since it is tv, they could do want they want with it and not hit on all the realities of parenthood...

As much as I'd love a McBaby I have to say that the show would lose a lot of its present character if a baby turned up. People's lives change dramatically after they have children and I am not sure how that change would fit in Grey's. I can imagine Mer giving birth at the very end of the series as a kind of beginning of her 'happily ever after' with Derek. But I don't really see how that would be possible now- Mer wouldn't be able to work as hard as she's working now (look at what work did to Bailey's personal life), Iz and Alex would probably get kicked out of the house, etc.

They totally need to write the baby into the script!

Ellen started to be noticably pregnant aound episode 17/18. GA should be able to work around Ellen in season 6. It would be hard to explain Meredith disappearing from the story. There are pregnancies being hinted at in GA. I think it would be more interesting if the 2nd pregnancy was Lexie or Callie. The problems that would cause would be very interesting, and Grey's needs to be a bit unpredictable to keep those audience figures up.
