I remember a recent interview with Patrick Dempsey in which someone asked about the wedding and a possible MerDer baby and he said they were both very real possibility and could happen soon.

Okay, I'm TOTALLY LOST in where all this(fertility treatment) is going re: Ellen and her pregnancy.
Where is your LOVE for OUR GIRL???? Who in there right mind CARES HOW she got pregnancy.???? And WHO in their right mind thinks of fertility treatments when a woman gets pregnant???
And WHY WOULD YOU even CARE???
This is a wonderful HAPPY TIME for the MER/DER FANS, PEOPLE!!! LETS NOT MESS IT UP or EVEN GO THERE!!!!

Ellen looks absolutely sweet and beautiful. I am hoping they write her preg. into the show. It would totally go with the Greys story I have in my head. But, Everything will have to depend on how she feels. Some woman have a difficult first pregnancy,with total discomfort and others just breeze right threw it. I'm always wishing the best for our girl. So, what ever she wants I can wrap my mind around it!!

What does fertility treatment have anything to do with anything? Because she's been looking pregnant for a long time? I don't get your post. If you're on fertility treatment you don't gain weight, right? Not if you don't get preggers, or am I missing something? And just because she's 39 it doesn't mean she couldn't have become pregnant all naturally

I also thought she looked pregnant for some time, but now that it's confirmed, it would make sense that she might have been on fertility treatments or something like that for a while. There's no way she could have been pregnant for almost a season and a half, but I noticed a bit of weight on her and Ellen Pompeo has always been noted (even criticized) for how skinny she is. Because she's older, fertility treatment might make sense if she and her husband wanted to start a family... Just putting that thought out there.

If you look at the timeline, the finale is May 14th, and she looks about 4 or 5 months pregnant here, but when they come back from the summer break, she'll have already had her baby, or be very preganant. It's supposed to be like only two hours have passed, so how exactly do they fit it in that she's suddenly nine months pregnant ?

oh yeah and scrub tops do not hide much trust me.im in the medical proffesion and i wear one every day. they do not hide baby bumps,no matter what size you wear.

she is more than two months in the episodes we are watching now because you can tell she is pregnant ,i mean have you looked at her closely,youcan see the baby bump.and michael,i agree she has looked pregnant for a long time my friend and i have thought she was pregnant for the last part of season 4 and all of season 5.and if they werent writing it in wouldent they be already started to hide it ,because you can totally tell she is pregnant.im know im crossing my fingers for a mcbaby

@ Michael: i think they stopped taking off the extra 10 pounds the camera adds so everyone looks fuller and not as skinny as other seasons.
@ fanpire: when they filmed the episodes we have seen so far she was only like 2 months pregnant and thats easy to hid with a scrub top.
she does look great with the pregnancy it fits her quite well! :)

I think she has been pregnant for awhile - I thought she looked puffy in her face this entire season. Seriously - look back - she looks way different this season.

Yeah, about 4-6 at least. So... if the sumemr break is a few months... technically she will have her baby (YAY!) and get the maternity leave before the show airs again... so maybe they wont write it in after all. I think that because she is still a resident, and both hard working surgeons and all... having Meredith/Derek babied would be unrealisitic
