Actually, the season finale (5x23) two hour episode is named "Here's to Future Days".
I hate the idea of Mer giving away her wedding to Izzie. I really just wish they would focus on getting her better (or killed) and having Alex deal with it than having them married. I'm really terrified that this is what we're going to see. The good thing is that at least MerDer won't be having an Izzie Wedding.
I do have two theories for MerDer however: either they elope and get married in the SF or baby. I think that by "union" is more likely that is a baby.
PS. I really loved Mer's hair in the promo pics. The dress? Not so much.

All of the MerDer fans are flipping out saying that Shonda Rimes is decieving us and it's gonna be some huge disappointment. I'm a huge MerDer fan, and I'm honestly happy that's it's NOT their wedding on May 7th. People have said it would be insulting if it wasn't them that got married. I think it would be more insulting if their marraige wasn't even a season finale. so it shouldn't be on may 7th. the wedding on may 7th SHOULD be alex and izzie. because they're the most freaking adorable couple ever. and it makes total sense what with all of the parallelism between her current situation and the way things played out with Denny. Plus, the plot of Izzie as a character is that she ALWAYS gets screwed over. it's time for her happy ending, whether it's in heaven or on earth.

Kristen, the 100th episode (the wedding one - May 7) title isn't "Lucid Dreams", that's the title of the season finale (May 14). The 100th - 5.22 - is called "Beautiful day".
!greys, according to Shonda in the podcast and PD in an interview, Derek and Mark will have start talking with each other in the next episode (5.20 "Sweet Surrender") and seems that will be quite emotional make up.
My bet is still on Alex/Izzie or Mark/Lexie...

mark and derek didn't make up did they? MAYBE mark finds out that they are enagaged, and proposes to lexie for a competition sorda thing... and that brings merideth and lexie closer together, but it pulls derek and mark more apart?????
BUT, i really don't think that christina and owen will get married because OBVIOUSLY they have a bigger issue at hand, and she might even be pregnant now, so thats the story line for them....
It's probably not mark and lexie, because thatcher is suppose to come back and stir up some trouble so thats there storyline for the next few episodes.
It's almost 99% sure that arizona and callie aren't going to seal the deal because they just started dating a few episodes ago, and callie's father comes in so that there storyline for the next episodes...
It's freakin alex and izzie.

greysaddiction, i REALLY am thinking they are going to do the whole cliche i'm dying lets get married crap... because izzie's mom is coming to town soon, and i don't think JDM is coming back, because if he was, don't you think we would know by now? by either tv guide, or e news, or even JDM himself...i'm just frustrated.

Mark and Lexie getting married would be awesome and Izzie and Alex would be sweet. :D

OMFG! I'd love to see Mere and Derek getting married on the 100th episode, but Shonda always surprises us! I have 3 couples in mind that might get married in that episode. First of all MerDer, of course, but I think is too soon for them to get married. Second: Lexie and Mark, I really love this couple, they are meant to be! And Third Christina and Owen, they would go for the wedding-impulse, because it's so obvious they love each other!
I'd put Alex and Izzie too, but she's recovering from surgery so... NO!
Well, just what I think... Does anyone agree??

Wow! Thanks for the link Paddisonluvr, Meredith looks stunning in that dress. I would say it's their wedding day, it's all set up but for some reason they don't get married and Izzie and Alex take the opportunity for the wedding set up to get married.

This may just be my imagination working overtime...but i have a theory...what if mer somehow gets izzie to help her plan the perfect wedding to der...but actually merder and alex have conspired and it's actually izzie and alex's perfect wedding as a "surprise! you may be dying but I want to marry you anyway" gesture from alex! That way shonda will be right in saying it's merder's wedding day and also that someone else will be getting married while not messing with our favourite couple when they've finally got it together.

@ !greys - where did you find that?? Sounds exciting - is Amy Madigan going to be in that episode, then, if Owen is "seeking help"?

If they let Izzie basically plan their whole wedding to keep her mind off cancer, Mer and Der might at the last minute realise that their wedding isn't their dream wedding at all, but its Izzie's...so Izzie and Alex get married in their place.
I still think that the 'union' between Mer and Der will be a baby and I think they will throw in the drama of Mer finding out she is pregnant somewhere in the next couple of episodes while the wedding is being planned/happening. If she is pregnant, I don't think they will feel any rush to walk down the aisle. I mean, a baby is a way bigger way of bringing two people together than a marriage and symbolises more commitment (in my opinion anyway) than a wedding ring.

Maybe merder will start to get married but thatcher will somehow get hurt or die bringing lexie and mer closer but postponing the wedding.

idk about A/I getting married-- I think a previous poster (kristen) has something in her theory about the wedding being a dream sequence-- b/t Ellen Pompeo saying that it's "a setting that's a wedding" and JDM being at the 100th epi celebration photo shoot... i'm thinking maybe it's Izzie's dream of MerDer wedding that turns into a Dizzie wedding (maybe as Denny tries to come back for her?)..... ????
