We have had plenty of Izzie. This show is Izzie's anatomy as it is.
Alex is a big bore and there is way too much of the jerk as it is.
I KNOW I won't be watching if George leaves. I have barely been watching this season because there has been so little of him.
I do love how the people who pretend not to care about George are writing over and over again.
Where do all those haters come from anyway? A lot of you I have never seen here before.
George is the heart and soul of the show for many of us, and Gizzie has a whole lot of fans.
He is the only reason I still watch. He leaves, I do too.

greysaddiction - once again - you're absolutely right! I shouldn't be here. I think I just have this insatiable need to avoid the paper I'm working on. I should leave this for those of you who want to lament - it's more than fair!

This is an ensemble cast. George had lots of storylines in the past with his Dad being sick, marrying Callie, having an affair with Izzie. Geez, give the other actors a chance and quit complaining. I'd like to see more of Karev, Izzie, Mer and Cristina and Dr. Bailey.

I know I _won't_ keep watching. All season I've seen episodes that have made me cringe. He's not there. The show hasn't recaptured its "magic" for me, and without George I will not keep watching. I've met quite a few people that agree.
Why is everything in italics now?

I can just see it now:
(Chief Webber to the staff a-la M*A*S*H) "I have a message: Dr. George O'Malley's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors."
Pfffft. How lame. Think of a better way to kill him off.

Quite interesting... McCynic says: "I just don't care. I'm not a huge George fan, I admit it." If you don't care, why not just skip over the George articles then?
hmmmm.....
;-)
Well, I love George. I love TR. I think he'd be phenomenal in ANY role.
But I'm not ready for George to go. There's so much more for George to do.
oooohh, yes, iheartmer/der-- I loved his hair long too! :) And short, and half-way b/t and.... :)

Come on - you can't label everything homophobic. And I am 100 percent against homophobia, but this does not evidence it's presence at all. After all, they FIRED Washington. The IW slur was so long ago (season 3?) and he had a LOT going on in Season 4.
Grey's addiction - you're right - we know nothing. But I don't think we can blame Shonda Rhimes anymore than we can T.R. Knight precisely because we do not know anything. Characters lose storyline time...and all this gossip and speculation abounds, and the media loves to play it up because people follow, etc. And then it festers like a germ in a petrie dish at optimal temperatures. Enough and just watch and let it go. If he's really unhappy, better for him that he leaves and moves forward. If he's happy and we're all being duped, we're (well, I'm not) wasting a lot of energy. I just don't care. I'm not a huge George fan, I admit it. But it's getting downright annoying!
i wish he would grow his hair out again!! i liked it better b4 he cut it!!!!!

I don't necessarily think Grey's ratings will go down dramatically if George leaves, but it will be a huge disappointment if one of the central characters is ripped away from the show.
If George does enlist in the Army though I think it would be better for him to be killed off because I think a return of George would be too horrific, he would no longer be the George all the viewers fell in love with, but would be someone darker, scarred by images of war, like Owen is.
The thing is that while the character of George has a lot of fans and TR has a lot of support... Why aren't we hearing from him that he want's to stay? Katherine Heigel has come out and said she will stay if they let her. TR Knight has pretty much stayed quiet. If he wanted to stay maybe he would be out there thanking his fans for supporting him, trying to push for more story lines, whatever.
While people are threatening to boycott the show if he leaves, they are taking it as its Shonda's fault. In all honesty he has had few parts, but he is just that a part. The show is still Grey's Anatomy. Countless times we see people on here that gave up watching because something happened, only to find themselves scrabbling to catch up as something new happens and they want to watch again. But all in the interim they were on the forums complaining and spoiling it for the people who do stay dedicated to the whole show.
Just wait and see what happens. No one is going to enjoy themselves wat
I agree. I'm not a huge Mer/Der fan, so the relationship between the Fab 5 is the main reason that I watch. George was there from the beginning and I think that all of the Fab 5 play an important role on the show. If you take one away, it just won't be the same.
Personally, I think George should stay. He's one of the original 5 and the only reason he's going down is because the writers seem to bear some kind of grudge against giving him a decent storyline. Yeah, yeah, everyone's got their opinion about him and that's fine. Except there also people who like George and want him to stay. I 've been rewatching seasons 2 and 3 and thinking back to the good old days when everyone seemt to have just enough balanced screentime.

George needs to stay. As a guy who watches Grey's Anatomy George was the one I identified with more. He was the more realistic one, the one who wasn't Mr.Perfect or a manwhore(well, toward the end he kind of was.) I just hope they keep him on the show and give him more screen time.

The show wouldn't be the same without George. They would lose many viewers. It really just wouldnt be the same. And what makes him any different from the other main characters, the original five interns? Would anyone consider getting rid of Meredith, Cristina or Izzie? Would the show be the same without them? No. Same for George. Don't kick him off.

Yaaaaaawn.
Yawn again.
They should've kept this information instead of leaking it in early season 5.
Now I'm not even surprised anymore. I just think Shonda needs a little respect for TR. He plays George, the glue to the show. What's the deal with her?
Calzona, you are absolutely correct.
George is the baby faced intern...he failed his intern exam, got married in Vegas (no offense to those who also got married in Vegas), cheated on Callie, and then we dont even know what exactly happened between him and Iz to make it not work...
I think it all went south when it came out that T.R. is gay and Isaiah discriminated. I guess Shonda must've gotten some orders from above to reduce his screen time due to that. It's called HOMOPHOBIA and if I had noticed it back when it started happening, I would've boycotted the show.
Shame on ABC for being so homophobic. They tried to show that they weren't with Brothers and Sisters. But it doesn't cut it when another show has an actor who gets reduced bc of his orientation. And then sends Hahn away...I didn't like Hahn, but who else here has noticed that they replaced Hahn with a feminine lesbian???

Anymore I don't even have an opinion on what these spoilers and supposed "insiders" say. All I know is that I'm going to support T.R. with whatever he does, and if he leaves Grey's then I'm following him out the door. I think he deserves a lot better.
And you know what? I've been shot up with novocain and am quite irritated, so I'm going to say this once...
Since being a George fan, especially when you're a huge Gizzie lover, is such a terrible crime, I'm going to quickly say to anyone that cares to bash me that I could quite frankly care less as to what your ignorant opinions are. I only watch for George because I'm a big T.R. Knight fan, and I love the character. He's gone, I'm gone.
Love Katie/Izzie and Chandra/Bailey, but not enough to stay.
I definitely want George to stay, but if he does I want him to get a REAL storyline. If he is just there to say one line in every episode then I would rather TR just get the chance to move on to better things.
The biggest shame in all of this at least for me, is that George was finally digging himself out of the hole that he was in. He was always one of my favorites but I think that the writers assassinated his character a little bit at the end of S3 and then in S4. He cheated on his wife, failed his exam, and started making excuses for his mistakes. All of that seemed out of character to me and when he finally stands up for himself, passes the exam and takes charge of his life, he gets no screentime. Last season, I finally started liking Izzie again and I would love to see George redeem himself a bit as well and have his friendship with Izzie restored to what it was before.

George needs to stay!!!
Greys would not be nearly as good w/o him. Evidence of that is in recent epis. The reappearance of George has made the past few episodes much, MUCH better. And central to the magic of the show is all of the Fab 5 interacting w/ each other again, IMO.
Calzona_fan and McCynic... I do not want to "maul" you lol. But, really, have you read or heard any direct statements from TR that he "isn't happy" or wants to leave? So far, we've heard nothing direct from TR himself. All else is rumor and speculation (a lot that has come from unreliable gossip rags). Yes, you too can have your opinions. Droves of George fans we'll have our opinions too. :-)
Fact is, George has many fans. When George had significant storylines and screentime his character was always value add. He is significant and enjoyable to watch. And his relationships with other characters are significant t

Personally, I think he should stay on. I did like George, up until he slept with Izzie in season 3. Then when he started redeeming himself a tiny bit, he ends up with nothing. But, if that is still the case, I don't blame him for leaving.
The reason I think George should stay is because of Callie, in a really stange sense. She has gone through so much since her first appearance in season 2. In the last episode, she was feeling grief over wishing Izzie was dead for a long time after she found out about her and George, and then she got sick and really could be dying. If something happened to George, I think that would put Callie over the edge, as we know about all the other really crappy things that have happened to her. I guess it could give her more of an interesting storyline, unless the writers just choose to have her not involved and like it will not affect her at all.

I dunno, I just don't care anymore. I think with all shows the way to keep them fresh is to put new life in, to start something new. By desperately clinging on to people that aren't happy there or are off doing other things, it just breeds staleness. While I think he was a good character, I think that the show is maturing and he is still the baby faced intern to me.
