Chace Crawford to Star in Footloose Remake
Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford will headline the remake of Footloose, a development that has been rumored for weeks. The studio producing the film has finally locked up the actor, who turns 24 in July, for the lead role in the upcoming film.
The Gossip Girl hunk was said to be first in line for the role of Ren McCormack, famously played by Kevin Bacon in the original, ever since the producers' first choice, Zac Efron, dropped out of consideration after getting cold feet.
Now it's finally a done deal!
Chace Crawford is ready to get Footloose ... but with whom?
In the mix for the female lead alongside Chace are Heroes' Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Dancing With the Stars' Julianne Hough, all of whom have auditioned for the part of Ariel Moore, played in 1984 by Lori Singer.
Footloose, to be directed by High School Musical's Kenny Ortega, is set to begin shooting in March 2010, around when Chace wraps Season 3 of Gossip Girl.

i once saw chace crawford in new york i was meltin wow he is gorgeos i never saw that kind of eyes i will never forget that day and i cant wait till the remake of footloose and i vote for julianne or miley but i think amanda would be good to well i think jullianne is the best

good for him but im still really annoyed that they are remaking footloose i wish hollywood would just leave classics alone but i hope bynes gets ariel her and chace would be a good team

I am still undecided about this remake, nothing can beat the original.

what's footloose never saw that movie? it's like HSM? i hope hayden will be Chace partner in the novie. Please not Miley .

Yes, I think Leighton could play the spunky Ariel in this well!

I agree that Amanda Seyfried would be a good choice. The girl has to have major spunk. But as long as it aint Miley I'm happy!
Is there going to be singing in this movie? Obviously there will be dancing but I don't think they sang in the original. I haven't seen it in a long time. It use to be my favorite movie so I'm glad they picked Chace. I really hope it turns out great because it is so hard for remakes to be successful.

Amanda Bynes?? Totaly! I think she is, among the speculated ones,the one that better matches with Chace!!
