Welcome to the Gossip Girl Round Table!

This week's hot Gossip Girl topics from "The Wrath of Con" include memorable lines, stretches of the imagination, and opinions on the caper, the spinoff, and Chair ...

Sound off below or in our ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: Georgina's episode-ending proclaimation to Blair: "You can tell Jesus that the bitch is back." Wow. We can't wait to see what the bitch does next week!

Gossip Guy: I loved that the old Blair was back in this episode. I loved when she summed up Georgina's new life: "that is a Carrie Underwood song, not a life choice!"

Mister Meester: This early exchange: Georgina: "The Lord cannot enter the body solely by alcohol." Chuck: That's good, because I prefer to be the one doing the entering." Georgina: "To each his own holy water." These two are great.

2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line?

DANdy: It was getting a little old, that is until Poppy escaping amid Serena's arrest offered a new twist. Now Georgina's on the case while Nate, Blair, and Chuck are joining forces to take Poppy and Gabriel down? I love it!

Mister Meester: Once you get past the absurdity - serious timeline plot holes, Lily sending Rufus dividends the very next day, that moron Poppy pulling off such a scheme in general - I do find it pretty compelling. Just gloss over some of the financial details and appreciate the characters ... it brought us back Georgina, right?

Gossip Guy: Let's leave the crime capers to professionals like Danny Ocean. Did we really need to drag this on for two whole episodes, and what it looks like a third?

3. More puzzling decision: Chuck letting go of Blair because he loves her, or Lily having Serena arrested to avoid drawing attention to the scheme?

Mister Meester: Lily. Because if eating a few hundred grand to avoid her reputation being damaged weren't silly enough, she has her own daughter arrested in public to prove the same point? Great way to handle an "adult" scandal.

DANdy: Definitely Chuck. Blair even said, reassuringly, and anticipating this very response, that if his feelings are real, they'll find a way to figure it out. Yet he's still too big of a loser to man up. Amazing.

Gossip Guy: What are you thinking Chuck!? If you love the girl, just end this drama and be with her. We Chair fans deserve it.

4. Biggest stretch: Serena thinking Gabriel would simply return the money, Dan overhearing everything, or the increasingly strange Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-hiding outfits?

Gossip Guy: I'm sorry Serena, you may be pretty, but no man is giving up millions for you.

DANdy: Dan. That guy fields head-scratching phone calls and overhears incriminating conversations like it's his job. Although, Lily's collection of Hermès - Kelly Rutherford's son's name, no less - bags held in front of her stomach is a nice touch.

Mister Meester: Dan's a curious fellow and I'm getting used to seeing Lily bundled up, so I have to go with Serena. Poor girl actually said "just because he took all the money doesn't mean our feelings weren't real." So naive. So sad.

Serena Gets a Text

Serena. We love her dearly. She is not smart.

5. How will Chuck react to seeing Nate and Blair at the prom?

Mister Meester: By bringing Gossip Guy's true love Vanessa as a date in an attempt to make her jealous ... hmm, now I feel like this has happened already.

Gossip Guy: Probably with a couple of classic Chuck brooding stares, but Gossip Girl spoilers suggest he won't take any action. You're killing me Chuck.

DANdy: With open arms. He cut her loose, remember?

BONUS QUESTION: Are you excited for the '80s Lily flashbacks?

DANdy: Let's just say I've spent an hour picking lilies every day for the last three weeks.

Mister Meester: I haven't been this excited since I dreamed about Serena last... sorry, was that out loud? I still think that a Maggie Grace or Emily VanCamp would make a more convincing Lily, but will give Brittany Snow a shot.

Gossip Guy: Actually, surprisingly yes! When I saw them end the episode with the Lily mug shots I thought of the promo pics for the new Gossip Girl spinoff and instantly got psyched for the first time for this new show!!

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? I have 2.
S: "You brought Nate?"
B: "I'm just as flummoxed (confused) as you are. I got out at 53rd and made a run for it but he is faster than he looks."
and
G: "I gave up my old ways when I let Jesus take the wheel."
B: "That's a Carrie Underwood song, not a life choice!" 2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line? Aghhh I hate Gabriel and Poppy. And Serena's such an idiot. This whole thing should just resolve and gooo! 3. More puzzling decision: Chuck letting go of Blair because he loves her, or Lily having Serena arrested to avoid drawing attention to the scheme? I'd have to go with Taylor, page 1, second post. "If you love her, let her go, right?" And I think Chuck letting Blair go is somehow linked to Nate...hrmmm.
Lily is such an idiot. Arresting her daughter?! She was the one who stopped Rufus from arresting HIS. 4. Biggest stretch: Serena thinking Gabriel would simply return the money, Dan overhearing everything, or the increasingly strange Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-hiding outfits? Serena's such an idiot. Period.
Dan...is getting annoying. Period.
I didn't notice that at first until I read this post... 5. How will Chuck react to seeing Nate and Blair at the prom?
Ooo I can't WAIT for that! I'm going to be like crying and like squealing. I just hope he does something...hey! I haven't seen Vanessa anywhere lately in the past episodes... BONUS QUESTION: Are you excited for the '80s Lily flashbacks? Not really...(:

1. Georgina: And they shall know I am the lord when I shall lay my vengeance on them!
Blair: How did you know my favourite passage? Priceless! Just imagine Blair with the Girls of the Steps, and you will kill yourself laughing. 2. Boring! I don't know what's more annoying; Serena believing that Gabriel actually cares about her even though he stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from her and her friends, just so not do damage her huge ego, or Serena's lame scheming skills. Leave it to the pros, hun. Same goes for you, Nate. 3.Neither was really puzzling to me.. Lily is a total society bitch when she gets into it, and we love her for it! Chuck is so insecure, and it's just heartbreaking! I'm just puzzled as to how Blair could believe it was all a game! Chuck said it himself, he likes to win. And he wouldn't be winning if he told her it was a game! 4. Serena. Honestly! It's not love! You met three weeks ago! He's not giving up millions for you! 5.OMG I don't care! So long as eventually they end up together! :) 6. So so so so excited! I'm ready for an 80s comeback!

1. Jenny explaining the plot of Twilight to Lily. Totally caught me off guard! 2. I didn't really enjoy it before, by Georgina was just so captivating when she interfered! 3. Lily. Like people have said before, HYPOCRITE! 4. Serena. She just....I couldn't believe that she seemed to stay naive throughout the whole thing. 5. I'm sure he expects it. He's supposed to help Blair be happy in the next ep, which truthfully I'm looking forward to in contrast to the heartbreaking scene this week. BONUS: I'm looking foward to seeing Brittany Snow. Love her!

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? Georgina: I gave up my old ways when I let Jesus take the wheel.
Blair: That's a Carrie Underwood song, not a life choice. 2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line? End it, it's boring me to death. 3. More puzzling decision: Chuck letting go of Blair because he loves her, or Lily having Serena arrested to avoid drawing attention to the scheme? If you love something let it go. If it's meant to be it'll find its way back to you. Lily told Rufus not to arrest Jenny and then has her own daughter arrested.. little bit of hypocrisy there. 4. Biggest stretch: Serena thinking Gabriel would simply return the money, Dan overhearing everything, or the increasingly strange Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-hiding outfits? Serena thinking Gabriel would just hand the money over. It's easy to overhear things and although Kelly's outfits are definitely getting stranger, no con artist would just hand the money back over. 5. How will Chuck react to seeing Nate and Blair at the prom? He'll get jealous and try to get Blair back most likely. I'm hoping she'll go back. BONUS QUESTION: Are you excited for the '80s Lily flashbacks? Not really, I'd rather just have a regular episode. Although I'm a No Doubt fan so it might hold some interest for me.

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? I have two, which is normal because i always have two:
Georgina: "You can tell Jesus the bitch is back." & I don't remember the exact words, but Chuck admitting to Serena that he loves Blair. It made me go awww. 2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line? It's getting a bit old. Hopefully Georgina's plan to get Poppy spices things up. 3. More puzzling decision: Chuck letting go of Blair because he loves her, or Lily having Serena arrested to avoid drawing attention to the scheme? The Lily thing. She is starting to really annoy me. Hypocrite! 4. Biggest stretch: Serena thinking Gabriel would simply return the money, Dan overhearing everything, or the increasingly strange Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-hiding outfits? Serena. Come on honey, haven't you learned by now?
Dan always manages to hear everything. Oh man, that boy. Plus, I didn't notice Kelly's stomach.. so.. yup. 5. How will Chuck react to seeing Nate and Blair at the prom?
I have a feeling that they'll end up together on prom night. At least, that is what I'm hoping for. Oh please, please! BONUS QUESTION: Are you excited for the '80s Lily flashbacks? I'm excited to see it because I want to know if the spinoff will be any good.

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? It might be when Georgina enters the room that everyone is in and Dan goes, "We have to get this crazy bitch out of here." 2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line? It's ridiculous. And not believable. They don't have anything better for Serena? And Lily having her daughter arrested is more scandal than an investment scam. It's a weak storyline. 3. More puzzling decision: Chuck letting go of Blair because he loves her, or Lily having Serena arrested to avoid drawing attention to the scheme? I think they are both quite lame. Chuck trying to show a nice side by thinking he's not good enough is not believable. In the first season, I believed he was madly in love with Blair. So far now I don't believe it at all. And Lily having her daughter arrested was ridiculous! What would she have done if Serena wasn't wearing the bracelet? Did she know for sure she was? 4. Biggest stretch: Serena thinking Gabriel would simply return the money, Dan overhearing everything, or the increasingly strange Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-hiding outfits? It's a toss up between Dan overhearing everything and S thinking Gabriel would turn the money in. I think Dan was even more of a stretch. When someone is in love, they believe the best. Dan is just always getting in the way of things. 5. How will Chuck react to seeing Nate and Blair at the prom? I don't think he'll react at all. He'll do nothing like he's been doing most of the season. He "said she was free to go", remember. So why would he do something now. He has to know they'd go to the prom together.

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?
Blair: "I'm just as flummoxed as you are. I got out at 53rd and made a run for it but he is faster than he looks." I love that b/c this is Blair being herself around Nate. The fact he didn't respond with a clever bon mot (as C. would) was disappointing - but not surprising. 2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line?
Kudos to the writers for keeping storylines timely. And really, it is a stretch to think Serena would get con'd? 3. More puzzling decision: Chuck letting go of Blair because he loves her, or Lily having Serena arrested to avoid drawing attention to the scheme?
Of course Chuck set her free - he must think "Wrong" is his personal anthem! Lily acting like her mother out of the blue? Maybe over the course of a season - but not in a few eps. 4. Biggest stretch: Serena thinking Gabriel would simply return the money, Dan overhearing everything, or the increasingly strange Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-hiding outfits?
Serena thinking he'd return the money... you'd think when she realized she'd been naive, she'd have stopped being so naive! 5. How will Chuck react to seeing Nate and Blair at the prom?
The word that comes to mind is 'wistful'. We know he's going to be Good Chuck, but I read somewhere it's Chuck *and Serena* that help Blair... hmmm... BONUS QUESTION: Are you excited for the '80s Lily flashbacks?
No. I'm seriously ticked that they would split the episode about SENIOR PROM with the flashbacks. I'd rather watch the girls dress-shopping and the mean girls agonizing over dates. This is the social culmination of high school, and they don't even allude to it except for a throw-away comment from Blair to Nate?! Not only unbelieveable, but lame. :(

Why don't people understand Chuck? He said it in his note to Blair after Bart's funeral. "You deserve much better." Chuck is manning up. He doesn't believe he can make Blair happy. So he's letting her go. Yes, he's foolish to believe what he believes. But he loves her, and was man enough to lose her for the sake of her happiness. As to how he'll react at the prom to Blair and Nate, I think he'll go back to the friend he was back at the very beginning of the first season. He'll encourage Blair and Nate's relationship, and he'll be working behind the scenes to make Blair happy.

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? somebody posted these before and i agree with them these are my fave. and jenny explaining twilight because the twilight saga is my favorite (btw i am not like other crazy fans i don't go around telling people i love twilight and actually hated the series before reading the books). and now i really want to know did jenny/taylor read them. but back to my favorite show gossip girl
Blair: You don't sound like yourself.
Georgina: That's because I'm not.
Blair: I don't think Jesus would like that.
Georgina: You can tell Jesus the bitch is back.
and
Georgina: I gave up my old ways when I let Jesus take the wheel.
Blair: That's a Carrie Underwood song, not a life choice!
and all conversation between c/b/. the actor are amazing. i can't believe ed/chuck can just sit there and watch her cry like that and look into her eyes. 2. How are you liking the Gabriel-Poppy financial caper story line? idc for it. it needs to go away. poppy needs to just shave her hair. 3. More puzzling decision: Chuck letting go of Blair because he loves her, or Lily having Serena arrested to avoid drawing attention to the scheme? lily, come on lily you are being a hypocrite for col. you didn't allow rufus to have jenny arrested but you have serana arrested. especially in front of the RUSSIAN TEA ROOM. wow. 4. Biggest stretch: Serena thinking Gabriel would simply return the money, Dan overhearing everything, or the increasingly strange Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-hiding outfits?
serana needs to think for a few days i think. gabriel is not going to return the money. neither will poppy 5. How will Chuck react to seeing Nate and Blair at the prom?
I think that he will be mad and jeaolus and walk out but at the end he will get blair and will be happy. BONUS QUESTION: Are you excited for the '80s Lily flashbacks? TBH I am a actually little excited. personally we need to know more about Lily's past. all we know is the she had a lovechild and lived in California. remember if nobody watches the first few episodes of lily or whatev they are going to call they will not show anymore of them. i just hope it doesn't show a whole lot of them if they have them i hope like a couple minutes here and couple minutes.
and some one said something about emily vancamp she couldn't do it she is on brothers and sisters just to let you know. but she would make a great younger lily.

believe it or not i actually liked when Serena thought that Gabriel would give up the money just because she asked him to. The show really keeps reminding us that they're just teenagers.
Georgina coming back and getting back to her old ways...LOVED IT!!!
I loved the "gang's" reaction when Georgina entered the room, especially Dan's LOL
At least for the next episode we see that Serena's not totally a bad apple; the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...
