Agree with most everyone - shock & breathlessness, love & the pain of loss; Shonda roused all our private emotions. I guess we'll have to wait until Autumn before experiencing the 5 stages of grief... I think I've shed more tears with this show than any other - well done team!

I got to say Shonda is a genius, that was the best two hour of entertainment I had this year so far. It was the best the post it wedding never imagine it, rock when I find my McDreamy I gonna get married just like that. I loved it.

There were some good moments and some that just seemed to be time fillers. I never heard Owen ask Christina a question so I didn't get the "all you have to do is say yes." They never talked about him not going to Iraq they just showed up at his mother's house and that was that. The problems that Arizona and Callie keep having is too much. I wish they would bring back the Callie that had "swagger" when she first came. Now she doesn't seem like a resident...but an intern. She was never one to jump in and out of bed with people...like Alex used to but once she broke up with George then on to Erika. I thought that story line was supposed to be about finding love and it just happened to be with a woman. But the way they moved her from the infatuation with the Sadie then on to Arizona. It doesn't seem like a natural progression for someone who had never dated women. They don't seem to know much about each other but they keep having arguments over family, money, etc. Break them up a

I find it contradictory that Shonda says she lays out the season at the beginning for everyone, and then later says that no one knows the season plan but her. It makes me wonder if she's lying.
My bet is that Shonda reads the press, or someone reports it to her, more than she lets on. Granted, she's busy, but all it would take is a trip to a site like this weekly.

Even if T.R. Knight wants to leave, I'm hoping they can decide that George survives but his arm is to injured to work as a surgeon. Killing him off seems too cruel, especially after everything else the character has been through.
I'm worried though that it will be George convincing Izzy she needs to fight for life, before he goes off to heaven or whatever. If one has to die I'd rather it were Izzy -- she's had her moments but her character is a little too nuts for me. I'd feel bad for Alex though -- another guy who's been through too much already.

Shonda Rhimes: There are ebbs and flows. Every character this season has had a lot of ebbs and flows. And every season is shaped differently. With George, I really wanted you to not notice that he wasn't there for most of this episode. I don't think anybody noticed because of the way we laid it out this season. He's an incredibly talented actor. And, actually, he was really lovely and elegant about lying there in all that very painful makeup and prosthetics for much of the episode with no words. That moment where he grabs Meredith's hand is one of the most affecting moments of the episode, and it was without words.
I have gained some respect back for Shonda because of this quote. Yeah, I can't believe I'd ever have respect for her again.
Now I fully regret saying this woman is horrible. She's a mastermind, because I never thought of this and would have never seen this coming. She acknowledged how talented T.R. is and how wonderful of a person he is, and spoke very

Everything they did with George's character=genius.
Fall semester= I kept wondering where George was.
Spring semester= I didn't even realized he was gone.
Finale=GENIUS! tied it all together!

I think they left it so cliff-hangery because at the end of season two they killed off Denny, and they've admitted they regretting doing so. They don't want to make the same mistake again with Izzie and George by jumping to the gun and killing them off before they knew whether they'd regret it or not. Now they have time to figure out whether they want them to stay or go.
The show will not be the same without George and Izzie's peppy and bouncy personalities. They keep the show light.

For me I don't really watch much TV, what I watch are the few shows that give me another world, some fun and looking into topics that jar our society. For the George character, he was always looking and the end was tragic but so close to the subject of saying how you care before the chance is taken from you.
As for Izzy, I enjoy this character who cares, who makes the best out of everything, her future on the show could go in so many real directions, it would be a shame to kill her off when we all wish to be more like her! And for Meredith and Derek, well why do they have to get married, what a twist, I loved the fact that they commit without all the rules attached, they are both different and that is what I love the most! And finally the troubled love story for Christina is perfect, only she should have challenges in what we feel is the easiest area of our own lives.
Great job... I never cried so much over a TV show!

Typical Shonda - doesn't really answer any questions. She's feeding the fans a bunch of bs and throwing in little teases. This season reminded me of a soap opera and the end was like an old "Dallas" cliffhanger. I'm so disappointed. I'm no longer excited for the next season as I was in the past.

I cant believe how they did GEORGE! Hell of a way to end the season! I cant wait till Sept....

T.R. Knight is my favorite characters in the show, he's such a natural and I'm always taken by him whenever he's on, he's funny effortlessly & it lightens up everyone's mood...and if he leaves the show, I don't think I will want to follow it like I did. Same with Katherine Heigl.
I mean seriously, how much more bad luck can Umali get in this show? Lost Meredith, Lost izzy, lost Callie, lost his father, didn't pass the exam, then now?
What happened to him last night at the season finale is the most painful one for me... I'd hate to see him go or die. That's the end of it for me, unfortunately. I have all seasons on DVD and he hasn't been on much this season! I have a bad feeling he's leaving... and that's not good. You'll ruin the show without him.... and Izzy. So good luck.

I hope this doesn't turn into another ER where all the main characters start leaving just as we become attached to them. The chemistry gets lost!

Excellent interview!! Thank you, Shonda, for sharing. It makes me look forward to next season even more.

So Shonda avoided as many questions here as possible, and personally I think it's a joke that "she doesn't read much of the press," but nevertheless I think this season was much better than last, Denny or no Denny.
