But Glee star Jane Lynch scoffs at the notion that the new Fox show is similar to the Disney series High School Musical.

"I don't know that it is anti-High School Musical," she says in the video below. "But it's much harsher. It's snarkier. It's not as sappy, if you will."

While expounding on the comparison, Lynch also revealed a spoiler about next season:

"I mean, High School Musical was good and everything, but it was kind of surface level sappy. These kids [in Glee] are going through real issues."

Such as? For example, she says, a character is coming out of the closet this fall.
