Jessica Capshaw Promoted to Full-Time Cast Member

On the same day that Grey's Anatomy bid farewell to T.R. Knight, some good news has emerged: Jessica Capshaw has been promoted to a full-fledged cast member and series regular.

Her promotion news hardly comes as a surprise.

Last month, series creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes all but signed off on Capshaw's promotion in an interview after the shocking Season Five finale.

"I love Jessica Capshaw," she gushed. "And when I say love I mean love. She couldn't be a more wonderful person, and I feel like the chemistry Arizona and Callie have feels like the Meredith and Derek chemistry to me. I find them delightful to watch."

For her part, Jessica Capshaw said she hoped to join the cast full-time in Season Six, having only good things to say about her experience so far. Glad she got her wish!

The ex-Practice star joined Grey's Anatomy last February as Dr. Arizona Robbins, a recurring love interest for Sara Ramirez's Callie. Her arrival came on the heels of the controversial dismissal of Brooke Smith as Callie's girlfriend Dr. Hahn.

Are you happy Capshaw is sticking around? Do you like Calzona together or would you prefer them to play for the other team? Share your thoughts!

I love Dr Greys Character, and i love watching the whole series and the next upcoming episodes.

That is your opinion Maria. Alot of us love AZ and Callie together. More love there relationship than hate it according to this form. Yeah she was with George and that end up being a disaster and her getting hurt thanks to Izzy. And with Mark she was trying to figure out her feelings and weither she's into men or not. I think sometimes people are so affraid that the world is going to hate them for living there life they pretend to be straight. Just so everyone is happy. Look what happen to poor Callie when she admitted to her Dad that AZ was her g/f. Aleast he didn't hit her with his fist. I got my eye blacked and my nose blooded when I told my mom I was a lesbian. And by the way Maria alot of people are caught up in this relationship and love it.

At first I wasn't sure how I felt about Arizona, she was really perky; but this is why Shonda is in charge and not me. She saw what potential was there and now I can honestly say that I think the Arizona/Callie storylines are my favorite. I really do hope it works out that they can have as much air time as the other main couples. I think they are much more fun to watch right now and hope the good storylines come their way. Glad to see Capshaw will be a regular, I don't normally like when they add new cast members to an already great show, but I think this one is a great addition!

Has nothing to do with whether or not it's a lesbian relationship. Its about whether or not we get caugt up into it. Is it exciting? Is it believable? Do we care? Callie's best performances have been with men. She was vulnerable with George, we cared! She was HOT with Mark, who didn't care? It just hasn't happened with either Erica or Arizona. Why try to force Callie's character into something it isn't. Try Arizona with another women. That scene where Callie interrupts Arizona on a date with another woman... I was left wondering who the other woman was.

Javi the reason that Brooke was fired was because of a bunch of people scared of seeing a lesbian relationship on Grey's. I have but one question. Why in the hell are you all over here complaining? This is where fans of Arizona is supposed to be posting. For gods sake whine where your supposed to whine. Under the form that is about George. I swear I have heard so much crap about George and Izzy. I just about hate both of them. And it is because of all your whinning. I can tell that you all are there fans ya whine just like them. I know that was rude. But hell enough is enough.

YAY! this is great news! love Arizona, she is so funny and adorable. I love her relationship with Callie. ...and Maria; Callie does know what she is interested in, she likes BOTH men and women! Ever heard of: BISEXUAL?

I do like Jessica's character, very much. Just not a fan of her and Callie together. They are no way a Mer/Der. Doesn't seem real to me. Not sure what to make of Callie's character. I loved her when she was first introduced: confident, strong, hot. Now she's just a blathering fool. Doesn't even know if she's into men or women. Take it from me (a viewer) she's all about men!!!! Just finished watching all the previous series videos. Grey's anatomy worked best when it was about people you cared about struggled to save lives. Hope to see lots of that next season. PS. I'm gonna miss George.

I Freaking Love Her! I'm glad shes staying. i think shes adorable. and i think that having a homosexual relationship on the show enables it to be more flexable and i cant wait to see how there relationship grows.

The TRN's thing doesn't has nothing in common with Brooke Smith dissapearing.
Because she was fired, and TR not. TR decided to leave the show, no one forced him to decide that. And by the way, I'm happy for him, because he didn't had a mm interesting storyline on the show. (I know that I probably have spelled something wrong, pardon me, but I speak spanish :D )

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.
