A time to die? Well it wasn't George's time to die. Why kill him? He could have gone to the army and be a hero, but Shonda didn't want that. She hates George and she wanted to get rid of him forever, no possibility for visits or anything.
I just hate her, and now I hate Krista too for lying to us just the other day.
They always knew George was going to die. How dare she try to act like they didn't?
I'm not watching.
She killed Gizzie and now George. And she killed my love for the show in the process.

It seems Shonda knew for months TR was leaving, and she couldn't even make the last episode about him., She made it all about Izzie like she did all season. Watch as she makes the funeral all about her too.
I'm so tired of this. George had so much story left to tell, and we deserved to see it.
We were cheated of George all season, and we were even cheated of saying goodbye to him.
Even that he had to share with Izzie anfd she again got all the attention.
I'm a Gizzie fan. I think Alex and Izzie stink more than stinky socks not washed for months. But Shonda seems to only care about them and their fans, so I'm gone.
I'd rather Izzie die than see him with Alex.
Shopnda has treated us like crap all season. She never cared what we George fans wanted or thought, so why should we still watch?
Sophi, you're the golden fanbase. Of course, yoou'll still watch. I bet if they treated Alex and Ai the way they have Gizzie and George, you wouldn't stay either.
And enough with

They should have sent George to the army, not kill him. That way if TR changed his mind, he could have come back later on. There was a lot more more to do with George than Izzie, IMO.
And yes, I use to love the whole show but now I think all thew characters have become so superficial, mean and selfish.
George was the one likable character on it. Gizzie was the one great couple, and I won't be watching without him.
I can't believe Krista tried to lie and tell us they hadn't decided whether to kill him or not. What a liar!
I'm done with this crappy show!

i think that the catholic priest is for George's death...we would see a funeral and no true wedding in the season six...i don't believe more to shonda and her post after season 5 ...the big scoop was post-it wedding but it was a declaration of love instead of a wedding.

I just wondering how ABC are going to do their usual promo for plugging GA this season with all their actors! Ellen will need to be filmed very carefully!

TR isn't returning, so there won't be any last rites at the hospital. I think it'll be a Catholic funeral for George, and it'll probably be the focus of one of the first two episodes of GA season 6. The church that was chosen by MerDer for their almost wedding didn't appear to be Catholic. Would Der as a divorcee be able to get married in a Catholic church? I must admit the 'reverberations' Shonda mentioned re the post-it wedding still bother me, but there was supposed to be a pregnancy for one of the characters kissing at the end of season 4. That didn't happen, except to very minor background characters. So I think Shonda lays false trails for us fans

What if the priest is there for George's funeral and then Meredith and Derek realize that life is short and decide to get married "for real" since the priest is alredy there? Highly unlikely, I know, but one can dream right?
It is deff. a funeral for George. Today on twitter I found a link someone had posted and it was some kind of a script. I was so confused cause it had people named "Andy" "Pam" and there was a Priest as well. Now it all makes sense!! In the script, Andy was an teenager who was getting tested for an STD and the priest was there for a *funeral*!!! I'm for sure its Georgie now. :[

Thanks jam979, I must've blanked that one off. Thanks for that.
I am going to sound mean, but they should've killed Izzie. I am still with the idea that George wasn't done. I hope that they give him a proper send off.

THANK YOU jam979! I don't like that George is most likely being killed off but what more can be done with him? I would have preferred him going off to the army but I guess it wasn't meant to be. If people watched GA for George only then maybe its for the best that you stop watching. George was one of the sweetest sweetest characters in a TV drama EVER and I am sad that he's not going to be back next season and I am really going to miss the friendship he had with Izzie (That was one of my favorite things about them I hated their romance no offence to any Gizzie fans out there) If TR wants out then there's nothing more that can be done and if they had replaced the actor then it would piss me off. There's more than one thing about the show than George and he will be dearly missed.:'(

@anuflas- George's mom confirmed that he is Catholic when she surprised him at the hospital and found out about him and Izzie. She said at least once (I think twice.) that he was Catholic and should see a priest and reconcile with Callie.
As for those who are upset with the death of George, T.R. Knight asked to be let out of his contract. What else could have been done with the character? I wouldn't appreciate another actor playing George nearly as much as him. In fact, it would feel completely wrong and even more insulting than killing him off.

How can she kill our beautiful George? He doesn't deserve this!

I'm so sad.
They didn't have to kill George just because TR was leaving. There was so much left to do with him.
I was hoping for some miracle. They could have jumped in time and have George be ok, but recovering in another country.
I hate that.
It feels like Shonda keeps crapping all over George and his fans.
The finale was definitely my last episode.
George was Grey for me.
Shonda has hurt the Gizzie and George fans too deeply.

George is Irish, so of course he's Catholic.
I can't believe she's killing George. She could have sent him to another hospital to get better.
I just hate Shonda right now. She didn't have to kill George. She could have sent him to the army.
I'm definitely never watching again. She treated George like some stupid extra last year and she couldn't even give him one episode for his death.
Hate hate hate her.

As far as I can recall, only Izzie's religion has been confirmed as a Catholic. I think that Callie is too, since a good % of hispanics are Catholic. Cristina is Jewish. Burke was Christian, not sure which branch. Guessed only by the Christmas Tree. Cristina called Mer a WASP, which is actually from the Protestant religion. Also, Addie said that she was a WASP as well when she was "praying". I assume that Derek & Mark might as well be Protestants. Best I could do there.
@Delinda - TR already confirmed his exit of the show. Most likely, he won't make it.
@beatriz - "Reverberations" doesn't have negative connotations, so it might not be exactly all wrong. Maybe they'll just mock it.
SPOILER FOR THE PRIEST!!!!
In the casting sides, the priest is set in a funeral scene.

Well this is George, an original member of the show. For many, George was the heart of Grey so you can't compare to Denny or his dad.
I am still mad as hell she is killing him off. Why? Why George? He was the sweetest of them all.
Delinda

Aargh she better not kill my George or I'm never watching again.

July 8th, 2009 4:28 PM
So she is actually killing our George? Well don't count on me watching.
I feel like crying right now. I wanted him to live.
Maybe it's a Patient?
July 8th, 2009 3:47 PM
Did it ever occur to any of you that he could be a PATIENT! Priests get sick too!

Probably for George's funeral :(
He comes from a Catholic family.
I know Shonda said she doesn't do funerals, but, come on... this is George. She'll have to honor him.
My Gizzie heart really is breaking.
Seriously?Seriously, After SF, shonda said in interview, that the "post-it wedding" will have "big reverberations" in S6. i don“t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing ;/
