No we don't all know that. What we all know is that TR asked for more story or he would leave. Katie did the same thing. Katie got an Emmy-nominated story. TR got 30 seconds per episode. So she stayed, he quit. That's what I know. I also know that George could have gone to the army but Shonda killed him off instead to get rid of George permanently.
What we all know too is that Shonda has treated George like crap for two seasons now, and ignored our pleas to use him more at every occasion.
That,s what we all know.
I also know that I still haven't forgiven Shonda for stabbing us Gizzie fans in the back or killing their friendship, and her killing George is just the last straw.
I don't get why the Izzie fans can say they will quit without Izzie and the MerDer fans can say they will quit without them, but the George and Gizzie fans are selfish when they say the same thing.
Can't you understand that for many of us, George was why we watched like for some of you, MerDer and AI

I don't believe TR would have left if Shonda had given him a story. Everyone knows that's why he quit.
If it happened like with Lucas and Peyton on OTH where the two actors quit because they wanted to do something else, it would be different. Lucas and Peyton always had a big story until their very last episode. So when the actors quit, I didn't blame the show and accepted it.
But George has had no story for two years and now he's dying. Everyone else got a story, got a love interest. He got nothing but pain and now he's dying.
I would have accepted George leaving if he had had a story and screentime the last two years. After seasons 4 and 5, there is no way I can accept his death.
TR left because Shonda didn't use him. She could have left the door open for his return but she decided to kill him.
All because Shonda held a grudge against TR.

Seriously guys? we all know that it was TR Knights choice to leave and no one really knows why I think he wanted to do something else. Actors do get tired of the same routine from time to time and also why does Shonda and Krita have to be liers maybe they haven't figured out what to do and these are just rumors they will say anything to get fans upset.
It doesn't matter what has been said people will always find a reason to complain. I like the show I am excited to see what direction they are gonna take with Cristina and Owen now I love George but he decided to leave there is nothing we can do about that

A man who stabbed a pregnant Egyptian woman to death in Germany should be punished to the utmost extent of the law, Egypt's top cleric said on Monday as the woman was buried in her hometown.
"The man who killed Marwa Sherbini, the Egyptian citizen in Germany, and wounded her husband Elwi Ali Okaz should receive the maximum punishment," Grand Imam Sheikh Mohammed Sayyed Tantawi told the official MENA agency.
"The killer is a terrorist who should receive severe punishment for what he has done, something that contradicts all the values of humanity, decency and religion," he said.
Sherbini, 32, was killed in a court in the northern German city of Dresden on Wednesday shortly before she was to give evidence in an appeal lodged by her attacker.
The 28-year-old attacker, identified only as Axel W. had been convicted and fined after calling her a "terrorist" for wearing the Islamic headscarf.

It's very hard for a series to keep up the ratings when it becomes long running. Today all TV networks world wide are experiencing falling audience numbers because of digital and satellite channels offering more choice. More people watch online. That GA has a sixth season about to start recording is an achievement. Grey's Anatomy was named as such cos it was a word play on the name Gray, who wrote a medical text book called Grays Anatomy. Mer is the central character, but it is an ensemble cast with 12 main characters who are given storylines. I would imagine that everyone has their favorite that they follow, and George was overlooked as a charcter in seaon 5. Other actors have asked to leave a series, some have been kicked out(Isiah etc).
We won't see George again.With time pressures on episode time, I just wonder how much we will see of the direct aftermath of George's death other than the funeral.
I like GA, I will be watching next season

I know that George is just a character. But why is wrong for someone to really like a character of a show?
why wouldn't be upset about George?
why i must be greatfull that my favourite character of the show will die as a hero? I am a Gizzie fan.
I am angry because Shonda choose fanbase. A show is not what it is but what it makes you feel. the network pay every week TR for what? So that he can speak for a second per episode? TR wanted to leave the show but he was still network's property.
And why didn't Shonda use him? he could have a storyline and at the end of season 5 he could just die. but he didn't. beacause she choose that the proper goodbye to George is one conversation with Hunt, one with a robot, one with Izzie and one with Bailey. And then a bus. That's what season 5 for George was.
For me watcing Izzie got cancer and not seeing George be there for her it's something that i can't forgive Shonda.

To the person saying we should be happy that George died a hero, I have a question. Would you be happy if your character died to save someone too? I bet you wouldn't.
George could have proven he was a hero by being a great army doctor and saving lives.
I'm so tired of the bad boys like Alex and Mark treating people like dirt and getting everything they want: the girls they want, the respect as a doctor, the professional success while George who is a better doctor than them get nothing but mockery, humiliation, loneliness and pain.
We're suppose to be grateful that George felt so unloved he was ready to go to the army to feel like he was worth something and he died feeling noone loved him. Or are we suppose to be happy he got disfigured and suffered agony for hours without anyone recognized him before he died?
George didn't need to die to prove he was a hero. He always was from day one.

TR didn't do anything wrong. He had like 2 lines per episode the entire season. He had almost nothing the year before that. Shonda killed both his romances with Izzie and Lexie, made his ex-wife a lesbian and proceeded to ignore or destroy everyone of George's friendship on the show. New characters came in and had more time than him. The ghost of Denny had 6 times more screentime than him. The new interns got stories and he got nothing.
TR got two plays on Broadway. He can't come back. He has to find other work now.
And I fail to see why he should have come back to a show that has acted like he's worth nothing to the show at all and has given him no respect.
I don't think any actor would have stayed in those conditions.
Do you think if Katherine was treated this way instead of having the show revolve around her character, she would have stayed?

No I must hold Shonda responsible if George dies. Even if TR never came back, she could have sent George to the army. She didn't have to kill him. He could have taken a bus for a stranger, gotten a miracle and survived.
After all the heartache George has been put through, more than any character on this show, George deserved a miracle more than anyone and she CHOSE to kill him. TR leaving and not coming back didn't mean she had to kill him.
Noah Wyle quit ER and they didn't kill Carter. They left the door wide open and five years later, he came back. If TR changes his mind down the road, he won't be able to come baack.
Shonda made sure of that.
George died alone, friendless and loveless.
TR quitt because Shonda wrote for everyone, even the freaking new interns, but wouldn't write for him at all. He wanted more story, we know that. He wanted to act, but Shonda wouldn't let him.

it will be a tear jerking premier...O'Malley is an irish last name, priest will be used in the funeral or last rites for george. heart wrenching episode...i'll be watching this.
at the end of a sad day...hopefully there will be a wedding for MerDer...to uplift everyone's spirit (in memory of george).

If George is to die, he died as a hero. Everyone is stating how brutal his death was, and how bad Shonda this and bad Shonda this, honestly, if she wanted to kill George as a means of carrying out a vendetta, why make him out a hero? Why have him sacrifice his life for another? Why do something that other characters would hesitate to do?
If he does die, why view his death as something horrible? He died in the most noble way possible: not by getting hit by a bus, but by sacrificing himself so that another could live, and a stranger no less. If anyone were to die in anyway possible, as a doctor, saving a life, wouldn't that be the best way to go?
And just because a character has died doesn't mean they can't come back in some shape, way, or form. Bonnie, Nurse Fallon, Dylan... even Doc came back for an episode. Death doesn't exclude that possibility.
Now, with that said, ultimately, if Shonda wanted George to come back, guess what, it's up to TR KNIGHT to do it.

Everyone watches for different reasons. I watched for George and Gizzie. I may watch from time to time for MerDer, but I'm just not into Grey as much as I used to be. Losing my favorite character won't help either.

Season 5 was awful. It was so dark and dreary and I think that ws because of the lack of George. He always brought so much light to the show, as did his friendship with Izzie. Their friendship and their romance made the show so bright and shiny.
Alex and Izzie, Mark and Lexie, Callie and Arizona, Lexie, I hated it all. It was horrific.
The show lost its way.
It losts its magic, and now that they have lost, no killed off George by mutilating him, they have killed every trace of heart the show ever had.

I didn't know we couldn't comment about George in an article that's about him.
I guess it might be ok if we said we hated George and couldn't care less if he was dying, but we can't say how angry we are at Shonda.
Shonda can't do no wrong and we have to accept whatever she does.
I stuck around when Gizzie ended even though I was furious at Shonda. I thought at least we would get the friendship, but even that she destroyed.
Gexie was about Lexie. Alex and George becoming closer was about George not causing problems for Alex and Izzie.
The alst two seasons, George was used as a prop for other characters and couples, not even like a main character. During Izzie's wedding, he was used to walk her to the aisle. Then when his usefulness was done, they sent him to sit all alone in the church while everyone participated in the wedding. That's how they saw George. Someone to show up to help the others, but then to vanish when he was no longer needed.

How are Gizzie unrealistic? My wife and I have the same story as them, minus the affair part. We were best friends for years before we fell in love.

George and Izzie's love was beautiful. Of all the couples, they were the only ones I could see growing old together.
Shonda should have left them together.
No offense to the Alex and Izzie fans, but i can't buy this couple. I don't believe their love. I don't see their connection and they have the chemistry of wet noodles.
Alex and Izzie are one of the reasons I'm quitting the show. They are terrible.
Bailey was ruined. Owen never caught on with me. MerDer are boring to me.
George was the one character we guys could relate to.
I don't know what men Shonda knows but it's not them men I know.
They feel like they'r ecoming off some cheap novels.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and their right to watch/notwatch Grey's. Personally for me though, I would definitely continue watching.. There is still Mer/Der, Alex/Izzie, Owen/Cristina to root for. I thought Seasaon 5, especially the latest half of the season was great.

When Izzie had that orgasm as she and George were doing it, I thought I would die from the sheer hotness. The sex scene lasted 20 seconds but it was the hottest sex scene ever.
And that smile on Izzie's face. Wow, she was so in love. She never looked at Alex like that when they did it.
Gizzie was magical. George was amazing.
Shonda's an idiot for not giving TR a story and making him stay.
Grey sucks without George. I saw this first-hand this season.

Ok I'm just getting tired of the trashing shonda and the "I'm not going to watch grey's without George" If you don't want to watch grey's without george than that's on you but PLEASE stop doing it on this website it's bringing this huge debate with George and its getting on my nerves. I love George and what he represented in the show and I did not like that his character had very little screen time this past season. I was never a Gizzie romatic fan at all (although that kiss was pretty intense the rest was just painful to watch no offence to Gizzie fans ) but I absoulutely loved THEIR FRIENDSHIP! I was not happy with the lack of screentime George had this season. I wish there was some way george can stay but if he's going to die I'm going to remember the good times that he had on the show. I'm still going to watch grey's for all the other aspects like Mer/Der,Christina/Owen,Izzie/Alex, BAILEY OMG! and everything else that makes Grey's anatomy what it is

Please yourself. Gizzie wasn't incest. They weren't related in any way. Take a dictionary and learn the meaning of the world. Oh and elarn punctuation and grammar at the same time.
Gizzie was the most believable couple on the show. Two best friends falling in love after loving each other so much and always being there for each other for many years. It happens all the time. What's not believable? That you don't find TR hot enough? You couldn't possibly be shallow enough to think love is all about looks, could you? If so, you need to seriously grow up!
George and Izzie were magic and their love was the purest, sweetest ever shown.

gizze was a terrible story line and not believable in the slightest, the scenes of them making out was like watching incest. ill be the first to admit that rather than bring in sadie, so dumb, they should have given tr more airtime, but at the end of the day tr wanted to leave the show, he obviously missed being on the stage, so get over yourselves cause, news flash, george was never a real person, he was shonda's creation so she can do what she wants

I'm from Australia, and I'm so sad.
It might be called Grey's anatomy but George is Grey for me. He's taught me so much on how to be a great person and how to never give up. It kills me that he tried so hard only to get killed.
Why does Burke get a medal and he gets killed?
How fair is that?
Alex had big stories in season 2. He had relationships with Izzie and Olivia. They showed hints of his past. He had the rivalry with George and with Denny. He had a lot to do.
George had nothing in season 5. He had no girlfriend, no medical scenes at all until the end of the season, no friends, no stories, no screentime at all.
In season 4, all his stories were given almost no time. They should have given a lot more attention to his failing and to the end of his marriage but it was dealt with in one episode.
Yes it's an ensemble show, but then why is George the only one to not have had a story all season? The interns had one, the guest stars had one, Sadie had one. They all did
