How Will Grey's Anatomy Handle Ellen Pompeo's Pregnancy?
As the sixth season of Grey's Anatomy draws (slowly) closer, the question of how the show is going to work around star Ellen Pompeo's maternity leave lingers.
E! Online says in its spoiler Q&A today that in regards to another ABC show, the network didn't want Rachel Griffiths (who gave birth to her third child June 21) to skip any Brothers & Sisters episodes. Production was thus pushed back a week to accommodate her.
What does that mean for Grey's Anatomy?
Well, if you assume ABC does not want an Ellen Pompeo-less Grey's Anatomy, they may seek a similar situation - however, she is due this fall, so pushing back production may not work.
Solution? Up in the air. But one possible scenario is that when Ellen Pompeo gets back, they shoot a number of Dr. Meredith Grey scenes in succession, and then work overtime to slot her scenes into the episodes that were shot/produced before her return.
Therefore, the audience gets the full Meredith experience with no gaps. Sound workable to you? Or would you rather she just take time off - or be pregnant on the show as well?

i mcbaby would be terrible right now with derek becoming cheif he wouldnt have time and neither would mer. but dont get me wrong i'd LOVE to see a mcbaby but i dont know how that'd work...they shouldnt rush it in to the show just because they dont have another choice

I could see a McBaby for sure.. It would make for GREAT TV!! She would panic, he would calm her down!! Maybe Addison could do the rush delivery!! oh yeah!! Crazy!

Ok, Ellen Pompeo is by far my favorite actress. And Meredith Grey is by far the best character no offense to any of the other ones you all are great. But i definetly don't want to see Meredith Grey go she puts the Grey in Grey's Anatomy. I think that she should take time off for herself but also defiently come back cause if she didnt that would just ruin the whole show. I think derek and meredith make the perfect couple. I have seen every single greys episode and i took most of my summer watching all the episodes to catch up to this season im so excited to see whats coming up. I LOVE GREY'S YAY

I feel that it would been great to see her and mc dreamy have a baby I mean if you are a fan then you would see that they been together or wanted to be together since the first season of this show. Now that its about to come back on I guess they can fit it in the way they need. This show been on for going on six years and I can't wait to see them be married and have a child together.

i abosutly luv greys anatomy nd i think that they should make so that she has the baby in the show nd that they dont hav to put clips of her in. i think its the best way for the show cause in the show meredeth nd derek r married so it would be ok. she could give birth in the show nd incorporate the baby into the show.

I AGREE THAT IT 'S TOO SOON FOR A McBABY ALTHOUGHT I WANT IT TOO MUCH.THE BEST WAY IS TO APPEAR HER BEHIND furniture like they do with lexie.or she can not to play while she gives birth but i don't want it ....

they should so have a baby it would be so cute and it will bring them all together after George's death, they would be great parents on the show
