Mitch Pileggi to Guest Star on Grey's Anatomy
Grey's Anatomy has prescribed an encore for Mitch Pileggi.
Pileggi, who first guest-starred on the ABC drama toward the end of Season Three (remember him?), will be returning for the two-hour Season Six premiere, again playing hospital board chairman Larry Jennings, TV Guide has learned.
When Pileggi, an X-Files alum, first appeared as Jennings, the Seattle Grace bigwig required medical attention after a trip to the Amazon in South America left him with a carnivorous fish lodged in, well, an unfortunate part of his anatomy.
Now you remember him.
Larry Jennings is effectively a boss of Dr. Richard Webber (the Chief).
For his encore, Pileggi's hospital exec will have official business to tend to. It perhaps relates to not one but two staff members, Drs. Izzie Stevens and George O'Malley, currently on death's door as the new season begins. But that's just one of many possible theories.
Grey's Anatomy's season premiere airs Thursday, September 24, at 9 pm EST.

Absolutely true, anuflas, about Mer's mistake.
It's a bit different to Bailey/the Chief/Alex ignoring Izzie's DNR wishes, though I think they could say Izzie was mentally all there, and not on life support.
I guess a Chief Executive of a hospital would come and offer his condolences to an employee's family.
I think the Chief could have a rough time of it with ignoring the DNR;the lower status of SGH and having trouble appointing attendings etc. Then there's those diaries he was given.......

Mer tubed her as a mistake. She didn't know about the DNR until the old lady's friends came. She wasn't consiously trying to avoid the DNR.
The Chief did.
I don't know how many stipulations a DNR can have and under what circumstances you can ignore it.
I think that everything (Derek's meltdown, No.12, Chief ingoring DNR's) could have a serious effect on the Chief. I'd really want him to step down for a while and have Derek act as Chief for a good portion of the season. Could be a great storyline, don't you think?

amazing how similar they look alike. I used to love the other on JAG

Ah, thanks for the prompt about the fish! Surely this character would have reappeared before now to question why SGH has slipped to 12th place in the grading of teaching hospitals. As the chairperson he would asked Richard what he was going to do about improving the sitauation or asking for Richards resignation! (Could he be questioning Dereks meltdown and Der's being sued, altough neglience claims are probabaly always ongooing in hospitals anyway!?)Also to ignore Izzie's DNR is not good, cos it was a legally binding document. Rememeber in S2 when Meredith had to take a patient off life support cos she DID have a DNR.

Why the sudden return? Hmmmm...could this be due to the DNR that the Chief ignored? Or the No. 12? For some reason, I can't wait for this storyline...

But wasn't he also the father of the gay soilder who died during the clinical trials. They used him there, but I don't remember him being the hospital administrator in that episode. Does anyone else?
