The Ghost Whisperer Season Five Spoilers: Time Leap Confirmed

The Ghost Whisperer won't look the same next season.

At Comic-Con last week, cast and crew members confirmed that the show would jump ahead five years when the drama returns on September 25.

“We really felt it would allow us to tell better stories,” said Hewitt. "We thought it would be really crazy for Melinda to be running to a bridge at 3 in the morning with a baby strapped to her chest.”

What else should viewers expect to see when Jennifer Love and company return to the air?

A sampling of spoilers:

  • Ned will be in college... and dating!
  • We'll meet Eli's parents.
  • Jim and Melinda's son will be named Aidan. Look for him to be even more powerful than his mother.

Sounds also confirm that Hewitt herself will direct the show's 100th episode. That should be interesting.

Defying Gravity Press Release, Pilot Picture

Defying Gravity premieres this Sunday night on ABC.

In anticipation of the two-hour pilot, the network has released the following press release:

The Antares crew, a team of eight astronauts, launches into space, embarking on a six-year journey to explore Venus and other planets in the solar system, find their lives and destinies intertwined and carefully directed, not only by Mission Control officials on Earth, but also by an unseen force which is much closer and far more powerful.

In the second hour, some rocky and intriguing developments confront the crew as they learn to adjust to life on board the Antares, as they find that some past choices, combined with an unknown element in the ship's mysterious Storage Pod 4, lead to a complex web of dreams, desires and illusions that result in a life-threatening crisis.

Entourage Recap: "One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car"

On last night's Entourage, Turtle officially became a loser in his own eyes when he turned 30 and had two people buy cars for him.  Yeah, tough break buddy.

Turtle Gets His Car

Meanwhile, Eric was nervous when Charlie's pilot was finally being screened.  Find out what both of our boys did after they went to the wise sage Ari for advice in our "One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car" recap.

Now for some of our favorite Entourage quotes from the episode.

Ari (to Turtle): Look. When my son was born, my greatest fear was having this conversation. I knew that I would give him anything he wanted because he was my son. And I couldn't say no, which sucks because it wouldn't help him and he'd just end up on the street doing heroine with The Two Coreys because I was to much of a p***y to teach him a lesson. I won't make that mistake with you. | permalink
Turtle: I was wondering if I could talk to you for a minute.
Ari: Talk to me about what?
Turtle: Career advice.
Ari: For who?
Turtle: For me...
Ari But you don't have a career. | permalink

The Vampire Diaries: Pilot Pics Reveal Key Scenes

We've seen The Vampire Diaries pilot and it's suspenseful, intriguing and downright fantastic all around.

While viewers will need to wait until September 10 to watch this episode, they can get a sneak peek below.

The CW has released a couple of pictures from the series premiere, and each reveals a key scene from the opening installment...

Near the conclusion of the pilot, Vicki's body is found, bloody and torn apart. Is it due to a crazed animal? Or, as she later whispers to her brother, an attack by a vampire?

Bones Creator, Star Defend Season Finale, Look Ahead

Hart Hanson, the creator of Bones, was faced with a difficult task at Comic-Con last week:

Defend an unpopular season four finale, in which Booth and Bones - after months of hype - only had sex in the former's dream sequence. Most audience members were clearly jilted at the tease of a storyline.

"I hope in retrospect the season finale will become more and more likable to our loyal fans," Hanson said. "Though I think the loyal fans got it. The people who tune in every once in awhile didn't like it as much. And I definitely heard about it."

Booth in Bed

So, will the partners in crime ever get together? Should they?

"I think they are two people that do belong together," said Emily Deschanel. "I think they complement each other in great ways. I would love to see them together. But I do see that it's dangerous. It's tricky because you don't want to lose the sexual tension between us."

As for season five...

  • It picks up six weeks after May's finale;
  • Brennan has just returned from a trip to Guatemala;
  • Her baby plans are on hold and Booth is still in a state of confusion.
  • Guest star Cyndi Lauper will give Brennan insight into her relationship with Booth.

Heroes: On the Road to Redemption?

The fifth volume of Heroes is titled "Redemption."

It's apt.

After all, while it wasn't directly brought up at last week's Comic-Con, the question foremost on many audience members' minds was whether or not the new season would redeem the show from a string of unpopular developments and storylines over the last two years.

Based on the spoilers below, revealed by cast members at the TV and movie festival, will the series win back disenchanted viewers? You tell us...

  • Peter will interact with a new speedster, knife-throwing newbie Edgar (Ray Park). Look for a cool kung fu knife fight between the characters.
  • Tim Kring explained the main theme of the volume: "We're creating a new wrinkle in the mythology of the show. Alongside [our Heroes], there was another group, this family who had powers, who could live among us and hide in plain sight."
  • A compass will somehow play a key role.
  • Hayden Panettiere didn't dispel rumors of a shark-jumping lesbian storyline, describing a new pal in college as "friend with privileges."

Sadly,  Masi Oka also said that time travel would, once again, play a prominent role this season.

"We see time traveling a lot more," he said. "[Hiro's] redemption is going back in time and fixing things he's done wrong. He has kind of a bucket list. He wants to make amends."

Oka added that Hiro will meet a younger version of himself. Does this get you excited for the new volume? Chime in now in our Heroes forum!

Dollhouse Season Two Guest Stars: Revealed!

A Comic-Con favorite, Joss Whedon got fans excited at last week's annual festival.

When grilled about season two of Dollhouse, the show's creator hyped a few guest stars.

For starters, Alexis Denisof (best known as Wesley on Angel) will appear in multiple second season. Denisof guest-starred on an episode of Private Practice last year.

Echo vs. Paul

What other familiar faces should viewers watch out for early in season two? Felicia Day, who starred as Vi on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will make an appearance. Whedon also said he's working on a role for Summer Glau.

As for season two storylines, Whedon cryptically teased:

"There is one trustworthy person in the Dollhouse — and I'm going to kill them."

Whoa. Was he portending bad things ahead for Boyd? Topher? Paul? Let us know who you think might be getting the axe next season.

The first will be a medical-school study partner for Justin. This individual will be a 16-year-old straight-A kid genius that will will challenge Justin’s confidence.

No actor has been cast in the role, but TV Guide Magazine reports that he may be of East Indian decent.

Meanwhile, information has been leaked about the character French actor Gilles Marini will portray.

Gilles Marini Pic

When Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) returns this fall - after a much-needed vacation in France - Marini will appear as her new boyfriend. According to executive producer Monica Breen, Gilles’ character will “make Sarah really think about her views on men. He will be an amazing challenge for her.”

He'll also play a prominent role in Sarah’s business dealings at Ojai Foods.

Fringe Scoop from Comic-Con: The Return of Leonard Nimoy and More!

As one of the most popular shows at last week's Comic-Con festival, the Fringe panel was comprised of stars Anna Torv John Noble and Joshua Jackson; along with executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Bob Orci, Jeff Pinkner and Joel Wyman.

While the series is notorious for remaining tight-lipped about its spoilers, the following tidbits were revealed:

  • Rumors that Kirk Acevedo (Charlie Francis) has been let go were "entirely premature," Pinkner said.
  • The alternate reality introduced in the May season finale will allow return engagements for characters previously assumed dead.
  • Leonard Nimoy will be return in the season two premiere.
