Dominic Monaghan Officially Joins FlashForward, Reveals Character Detais

Dominic Monaghan was confirmed as a series regular on FlashForward earlier this month.

But, at Comic-Con last week, more details were revealed about the role the former Lost star would play on the new series.

Monaghan will portray Simon, "a game-changer character who f--ks up a lot of things," as described by producer/writer David Goyer.

As for why he signed on for FlashForward, the actor said:

"I want to play someone who's the opposite of [Lost's] Charlie. Simon is a man - this guy's not scared, he's capable, he's unflappable, he's smart, he's scary, he's everything that Charlie wasn't... it's important to me to continue to show an audience that I can play more."

Monaghan added that Simon is a "little hard to predict. He's a snappy dresser, capable and cocky."

FlashForward, one of the fall's most promising new shows, debuts on September 24.

Adrienne Palicki May Not Return to Friday Night Lights

Plans for Adrianne Palicki to come back to Friday Night Lights this fall to give Tyra Collette some closure have hit a new snag, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"I'm actually going to be shooting [Red Dawn] during the fourth season, so I don't know if I'm going back," she said while promoting her upcoming thriller Legion.

"I know they want me to [come back]."

The actress confessed that the thought of leaving Friday Night Lights for good makes her "very sad, I had such a great time on that show. They're like my family."

There's always Season 5 - which is guaranteed to actually take place after the show's highly-unusual two-season pickup. The show returns on DirecTV this fall.

That's the date on which Caprica - the much-hyped prequel to the aforementioned iconic series - will premiere.

Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales

Caprica takes place more than 50 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica. Its pilot episode, which is actually already available on DVD, will run for two hours.

In the new show, Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales (pictured) star as the heads of two rival families. It's executive produced by Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, David Eick and Jane Espenson.

Smallville Season Nine: Clark's Darkest Hour

Settle in, Smallville fans: we've got season nine scoop galore!

Following last week's detailed look at upcoming storylines on the show, the cast and crew of this CW hit gathered at Comic-Con in San Diego and revealed even more information about what's to come.

Clark Kent Picture

Led by executive producer Brian Peterson, here's what the Smallville panel opened up about at the festival...

  • The theme of season nine will be "Clark's darkest hour."
  • Expect a season-long love triangle involving Clark, Lois, and Red-Blue Blur.
  • Chloe will still be grieving over Jimmy's death. She'll soon grow displeased with just Clarke's sidekick.
  • Terence Stamp returns as Jor-El and shares an important scene with Clark in the season premiere.
  • By the third episode, Oliver's downward spiral will be in full swing.
  • Battlestar Galactica's Alessandro Juliani will reprise his role as Dr. Emil Hamilton for several episodes.

Peterson also hinted that he is not looking at this season as Smallville's last. There's plenty more story to tell, he said, much to the delight of fans in attendance.

True Blood Season Three: Confirmed!

It's no surprise, but it's still exciting and worth passing along:

True Blood has been confirmed for a third season.

At the show's Comic-Con panel last week, executive producer Alan Ball told fans of the wildly popular HBO series that the show will be back for at least one more season (and likely many more, considering author Charlaine Harris has agreed to pen three more novels in her book franchise).

A True Embrace

From there, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard chimed in. They said their characters' love triangle will grow more intense in the second half of the current season, as Moyer added Bill will be "fighting harder" for Sookie’s affection.

As for major theme for the second half of the season, the producer initially answered with one word: war.

Ball also said he’s excited to add werewolves and Mississippi vampires from Harris’ books into various storylines next season.

Asked about Bubba, a fan favorite from the books, Ball said there are no plans to include him. Yet.

Lost Season Six Spoilers, Scoop from Comic-Con Panel

As expected, the Lost panel was as popular as any other show or movie at last week's Comic-Con festival in San Diego.

The cast and crew members in attendance didn't disappoint, either, offering up key clues and hints about what's to come on season six. Let's get right to it!

  • Juliet and Faraday will play roles  in season six.
  • There will be significant backstory on Richard Alpert; the actor that plays him, Nestor Carbonel (pictured)l, has been promoted to series regular.
  • Producer Carlton Cuse said the flashbacks in season six would take a "different approach."
  • Cast and crew guaranteed a season that will somewhat resemble season one, in terms of jungle adventure, emotional resonance, and a sense of discovery.
  • In response to a fan question about Jacob, producers said the character has never taken on the form of another person.

Richard Alpert

Meanwhile, as part of The Vampire Diaries panel, Ian Somerhalder stammered when asked about a return to Lost, but the following words did leave his lips:

I am going to be coming back.

Breaking 24 News: Jack Bauer is Alive!

This just in: Jack Bauer is not dead.

After following a solid seventh season with a lame cliffhanger that involved the show's main character on the verge of death, as the result of a virus of which he helped stopped the spread, 24 will return in January with big news:

Jack is alive and well; very well, actually.

"He did make it through and you'll see a little bit later how," executive producer Howard Gordon said at Comic-Con last week.

As for how the eighth season will play out, let's ask the show's star:

"Season seven and eight, probably more than any other season that we've done before, are really connected together. The storylines from season seven really do play all the way through into season eight," said Kiefer Sutherland.

Jack and Chloe

Other 24 spoilers and tidbits revealed at Comic-Con include:

What is the storyline? "The threat centers around a peace conference at the U.N. that is being headed by the President of the United States and the President of Iran. The rest of the day goes forward from that point," said Sutherland.

Where is Jack at? "[The season] starts with Jack in a place we haven't seen and that [he] is happy with his daughter and his granddaughter, and it's really an interesting place because when you see those scenes in the beginning you realize, gosh, we haven't seen this side of him for so long.

There's always this dread when you're watching it that this is not going to last and it makes those moments so much more poignant," said producer Manny Coto.

Burn Notice Cast and Creators at Comic Con

Most of the cast and creators of Burn Notice were at Comic Con for their panel ready to answer questions.  Most notably absent was the show's recently arrested star Jeffrey Donovan.

Luckily the show's comic relief and Comic Con regular, Bruce Campbell, was ready to handle the crowd.  When an audience member asked if Bruce helped write some of his character's lines, he answered, "Mike at one point says, 'Sam I could kiss you.' Sam says, 'Get in line.' That was mine. But whatever, we throw them out whenever they are appropriate and if they use them."

Bruce also joked that there's a "Xena out there that I want to boff."  When asked if his playboy character would ever settle down, Campbell said his character is "still putting the hammer down, [but] I have a new girl named Miss Reynolds, but you never see her. Sam just talks a lot. So maybe he's lying. Maybe he doesn't have that many chicks."
