Rose Byrne Tries, Fails, to Preview New Season of Damages

Rose Byrne spoke to TV Guide Magazine this week and we wish we could say she delivered a slew of Damages spoilers.

Alas, the actress seems as clueless about season three as we are. Here are excerpts from her interview with the publication:

On the new season of Damages: We start up again in September. Hopefully, by late august, they’ll start filling me in on what’s happening…..They said things off hand at the end of last season, but really I’m sure it’s all brewing now inside their little writer’s den.

On being surprised by the show's twists/turns: I have huge arguments with the writers all the time. "What am I doing? Why are you telling me now? I only have five minutes till set?” That’s TV. You know, Tate Donovan loves working like that. I think he finds freedom in the fact that you just have to make a choice really quickly about things they throw at you. I still get frustrated. I just prefer to have more time with the text, but you know, that’s just the way it goes.

Big Love Sets January Premiere Date

Although no exact premiere date has been set yet, HBO has at least announced that Big Love will return to the air some time in January.

The network has revealed little about the new season, but executives did voice their displease, at this week's Television Critics Association press tour, that the cast didn't pick up a single Emmy nomination.

"It's such a spectacular cast that I thought at least one of them would be recognized. Yes, we were surprised that at least one of them wasn't recognized," said HBO co-president Richard Plepler.

True Blood, Entourage and Hung: Officially renewed by HBO

No major shocks from HBO at this week;s Television Critics Association press tour.

The cable network officially announced that True Blood, Entourage and Hung have been picked up for another season. The former two shows have been huge hits for the channel, while the latter has pulled in surprisingly strong numbers, despite mixed reviews.

Considering its constantly improving ratings, certainly no surprise that True Blood is coming back. But Michael Lombardo, HBO's president of programming, explained to the crowd anyway:

"One of the reasons we brought [True Blood] back as soon as we did was it always felt like a summer show. The hope and expectation is to try to bring it back next summer as well."

Regarding Hung, executive producer Dmitry Lipkin said:

"We're not interested in a sex farce. We're interested in exploring the real repercussionss of what it would be like for a very unlikely pimp and a very unlikely ho to come together and to try to do this, and the emotional price that one may pay for it."

Coming to Curb Your Enthusiasm: A Seinfeld Reunion!

It took more than a decade, but we have a feeling this will be worth the wait:

The cast of Seinfeld will reunite, in an ongoing storyline, on the upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

While this was initially reported a few weeks ago, star Larry David sat down with reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour yesterday and expounded on what viewers can look forward to.

Take it away, Seinfeld creator!

"The context is that for years I've been asked about a Seinfeld reunion," he told the media. "I would always say, 'No. There's not going to be a reunion show. We would never do that. It's a lame idea.' And then I thought it might be very funny to do that on Curb. I kept thinking about it. I started to think of different scenarios and how we can pull this off. I called Jerry and Jerry was game. I said, 'Well, I'll call the others.' And I did and we did it. So we're doing a Seinfeld reunion show on Curb."

Seinfeld reunion

What, exactly, will this entail?

"We're going to see writing. We'll see aspects of the read-through, parts of rehearsals," David said. "You'll see the show being filmed and you'll see it on TV. You won't see the entire show. You'll see parts of the show. You'll get an an idea of what happened 11 years later. It will be incorporated into regular Curb episodes, so the castmembers will be playing themselves on Curb while all of this is going on."

David added that the unique storyline will comprise five episodes total. Jerry Seinfeld will appear on all five that are related to his former sitcom, while other cast members might only appear on four.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm season finale will then focus on this contrived, sure-to-be hilarious Seinfeld reunion. We can't wait.

Amy Poehler to Co-Anchor Weekend Update Thursdays

Can you ever get enough of Amy Poehler?

NBC will put that question to the test this fall, as the former Saturday Night Live alum returns home to co-anchor a pair of Weekend Update Thursday night specials with Seth Meyers.

Knope Problem

On September 17, the Poehler-ized Update will lead into the second season premiere of the comedian's sitcom, Parks and Recreation at 8:30 pm. This will be followed by the return of The Office; and the debut of the new series Community at 9:30 p.m.

(Sadly, 30 Rock doesn't come back until October 15.)

Poehler will also be behind the Weekend Update desk a week later, on September 24.
