Smallville to Delve into Relationship Between Zod and Clark

The ninth season of Smallville will focus on the evolution of a new character, and his subsequent relationship with Clark Kent.

So said executive producer Brian Peterson at last week's Comic-Con festival.

"We're introducing [Callum Blue] as Major Zod, before he even turns into General Zod, so we get to see his trajectory into becoming the villain he's known as. We've never had a Kryptonian living on Earth with Clark for an entire season, and [to see] how that affects Clark's journey," Peterson said to E! New when asked about the new season, adding:

"We're going to be exploring a lot of that this year, without trying to do too much time jumping and alternate universes. We're going to try to explore the relationship between Zod and Clark, and what if that were different? Zod and Jor-El, and what if that had been different in the past? In the first six episodes, we're going to get to it pretty quickly."

Callum Blue, right, takes on the role of Major Zod, left, on season nine of Smallville. Wil he contribute to Clark's "darkest hour?"

Weeds Recap: "A Distinctive Horn"

When Esteban refused to let Nancy put him down as the father on the birth certificate on last night's Weeds, Nancy decided she was done with him and took the baby home with her back to Andy's.

For the first time ever, Andy was able to stand up to Nancy, giving him the confidence to shave that disgusting excuse for a beard and ask out Audra!

Totally Crushing

Find out how the date went and why Dean got so much business in our "A Distinctive Horn" recap.

Now for some of our favorite Weeds quotes from the episode.

Pilar: Do you know why I've never had children?
Nancy: Because you'd eat them and children are super fattening? | permalink
Silas [about baby Botwin]: He's kind of cute
Shane: Who cares? He's probably just gonna want to play soccer | permalink
Esteban: Our son will be baptized by a priest in a church
Nancy: Sorry, he's Jewish. Snip, snip. Eat fish. Start saving for law school | permalink

Mad Men Season Three Premiere to Focus on British Takeover

The British aren't just coming to season three of Mad Men - they've already arrived!

While those behind this hit AMC drama are often mum about spoilers, we can reveal that the August 16 season premiere will focus on the British takeover of Sterling-Cooper.

As a result of this development, expect major restructuring to take place, as two fan favorites will be in contention for the same job. Who will they be?

For our best guess, check out the picture below:

Don Draper and Roger Sterling

Meanwhile, sources at E! News have a warning for Salvatore Romano: your marriage isn't fooling Don Draper. He knows everyone's secrets.

Is a Happy Ending Ahead for Jack Bauer?

Will Jack Bauer ever find happiness?

While fans may have stopped debating that question years ago, considering the unlikelihood of a positive answer, star Kiefer Sutherland says the eighth season of 24 will focus on Jack's potential future.

"People would like to see him at least have the option to have a good life," Sutherland told E! News. "We stripped a lot of those components over the years, by virtue of killing everybody, that whether he wants to live or die seemed to become innocuous—like who cares, there's nothing really to live for. What we did for this season is to really try and create something that would make Jack want to live."

Such as a relationship with Renee Walker, who producer David Fury confirms will return to 24 next year as a damaged individual.

Renee and Jack

As for other possible returns, Fury said there's a possibility that Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) and Mandy (Mia Kirshner) could appear on season eight. Viewers may even see Tony again.

"There may be an opportunity for Tony to be pivotal in the show," said Fury.

Horrifying Event to Highlight Sons of Anarchy Season Premiere

Horrifying. Terrifying. Stomach-turning.

Any of these adjectives could be used to describe a certain development in the season two premiere of Sons of Anarchy.

Yes, sources confirm that this even is even more distressing than the castration or the blowtorch tattoo removal that were depicted last season.

We won't give anything else away, but remember this: if you can stand to watch, it will leave viewers in suspense, wondering what the heck happens next.

In other season two news: Henry Rollins and Adam Arkin will play key roles on the show this fall.

The Ghost Whisperer Cast Previews New Season

The Ghost Whisperer is heading to the future.

As the CBS drama readies for an intriguing fifth season, one that will jump the show five years into the future, cast and crew members gathered at Comic-Con last week.

At the event, stars Jennifer Love Hewitt (Melinda), Jamie Kennedy (Eli), Camryn Manheim (Delia) spoke to TV Guide Magazine about their new season, which premieres on September 25.

Enjoy the following excerpts from the interviews:

Hewitt, on Melinda/Eli interaction: I think they’re going to come up with fun stuff for us to do. We got to do a fun scene the other day that was funny and heartfelt. Eli and Melinda are sort of partners in crime and they share their weird gifts.

Ghost Whisperer Panel

Manheim, on where her character is at:  My son is dating girls and sucking face and I’m not super happy about that.... Delia has rented the store next to Same As It Never Was, and has started her real estate business. She’s also dating several men.

Kennedy, on his character's parents: My dad and I have a strange relationship. My mother and I have a good relationship. The episode I’m filming now is crazy. The bomb’s keep getting dropped. It’s something that’s either going to work or people are going to think this is really weird. It’s something that’s not addressed normally in television.

Producer Ian Sander, on Melinda's son: He’s a special child. He has the gifts that he has and much more. He can see things she can’t, and sense things she can’t. What that lets us do is reveal a new dimension we haven’t seen before. There are beings on this other plane who are wonderful, magical forces of good. And some are the direct opposite. There’s a new enemy that we’ve never grappled with before. Also, sometimes there are things that don’t want to be seen. Shadows perhaps.

Ed Swiderski Wins The Bachelorette Finale!

Last night, The Bachelorette star Jillian Harris had to choose between Ed Swiderski and Kiptyn Locke on the emotional season finale of the ABC reality show.

That was difficult enough, but then Reid Rosenthal, the recently-ousted third-place finisher, returned to Hawaii to ask for her hand in marriage as well!

First, Jillian got rid of Kiptyn. But before she could see Ed, it appeared Reid might shock the world in his dramatic return. But Jillian, however moved, dispatched Reid a second time and accepted the marriage proposal of Ed Swiderski moments later.

The Bachelorette: Ed

Proposal accepted, Ed Swiderski is poised to become Mr. Jillian Harris.

Returning to Lost: Juliet, Angry Sawyer

The sixth and final season of Lost may center around an entirely new timeline, but it will also return to its past in at least a couple of ways.

First, Elizabeth Mitchell has confirmed that she'll reprise her role as Juliet, despite the fact that her character was inches away from an exploded hydrogen bomb in May's finale and despite the fact that the actress is starring in a new series, V.

"[I'll appear] pretty immediately, and then I'm not sure after that," Mitchell told E! News this week about Juliet's role next year. "I think it will be satisfactory."

Juliet and Sawyer

Meanwhile, Josh Holloway says his character's state of mind, following the events of the season five finale, will hearken back to the former, bitter Sawyer.

"I think he's pretty destroyed. All of that growth got ripped away. I think he's gonna be a bit salty again, which I'm looking forward to. All I know is that he's destroyed and has given up on life again and on having any positive lessons. So watch out!"

We surely will. Lost returns to the air in January 2010.

Producers Spill Slew of Supernatual Secrets

Neither Jared Padalecki nor Jensen Ackles could make it for the Supernatural panel at Comic-Con last week.

But executive producers and writers Eric Kripke, Ben Edlund and Sera Gamble satisfied fans' cravings for season five scoop by dishing on a number of topics. Below, we've excerpted pieces of what each show runner had to say about events to come...

Kripke on Castiel: Castiel's totally, totally screwed in season five. Things didn't end well with him and the archangel that came down. I can say that throughout episode one he is dead and exploded into gorey smithereens. He's on the run, he's fallen, they're hunting him down, he's cut off from where he was, he's lost, alone and scared with the guys.

Everyone's totally boned as they are trying to stop the apocalypse from happening. There's basically about four good guys against the universe, trying to stop the apocalypse.

Padalecki as Sam

Edlund on Dean's storyline: We've been working on the notion that both of them have these massive responsibilities that they're going to step into. Dean's role has moved on from being the guy driving the car. He's gone from chauffeur of destiny to a sad participant in destiny. He's going to have important things to do—that's one of the areas I was supposed to be pretty coy about, though. Try another angle! Let's see if we can get at it!

Gamble on Lucifer's role: He's definitely the big bad of the season. I would compare it to Lilith in that you saw her sometimes, you heard about her a lot, you met her minions, you met her right-hand man. You might actually see Lucifer a little more than you saw Lilith, the last couple of seasons.

And we have a great actor cast, Mark Pellegrino, and I don't think Lucifer wants to go back to hell. I think that's the last place he wants to go, but he's walking the earth and causing trouble throughout the season.
