congrats to them both, but why arent the actors of the most popular greys anatomy couple not nominated...
I personally think that Sandra and Chandra are the best actresses on the show and they fully deserve to be nominated. I keep my fingers crossed for SO to get the award, because she uncovered a new dimension of her character this season.
I really didn't think that Justin Chambers deserved a nomination though. I know some of you are shocked that he wasn't given one, but to me his performance wasn't outstanding in any way. And his acting in the last scene of the finale, when Alex is crying watching his coding wife, was just bad.
As for Kevin McKidd, i think he is a great actor, but perhaps he didn't have a chance to fully develop his character in his first season. YET - I hope next year he will get a nomination!
And finally, Katherine Heigl. I never really saw anything extraordinary in her acting this season. And I don't think they should give her a nomination because her character got cancer and had a hard time. It's just not enough for me.
And off topic - Hugh Laurie has to

Oh, another thing. I can't believe that Eric Stoltz wasn't nominated for playing the creepy SK. HE was robbed there.
Also, I would've chosen either Tyne Daly or Bernadette Peters for the Guest Actress. Sharon Lawrence didn't do anything for me.
And does anyone else find ironic the fact that KH wasn't nominated at all?

The same actors as last year are nominated this year *yawn*. Guess we'll know how that's going to go.
First of all, congrats to SO and CW, as usual, excellent work. I really hope that CW takes it. It's overdue.
As for the rest, can't say I'm surprised but I had some hope. I really wanted EP and PD to be nominated. I knew winning was too much but I think that a nomination would've been great.
So aside from CW, Hugh Laurie HAS to take the Emmy this time. He has to. Five years of nominations and nothing? Seriously. Give him the award.
I hope that next year there is better luck for GA.
@ Marten - For the Best Drama category, they submitted "Sympathy for the Devil" & "Stairway to Heaven".

My two favorite Grey's ladies! I am thrilled for them both, and I do hope one of them wins. They are both exceptionally talented and hard-working women. I would also like to have seen EP nominated for her work this season- her scene after William's execution was so beautifully acted, I think she deserved recognition.
I'm also very pleased to see Hugh Laurie, my favorite actor, nominated.

It's almost the same as last year...with the same 2 actresses from the show. being nominated. But both Sandra and Chandra do indeed deserve it :) Now, if only Katherine and Ellen were nominated too, and Patrick and Kevin should've stood a chance too!

I can't beleive that nobody else is nominated i'm glad that Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson made it but why isn't some of the other cast members nominated? Seriously!
I think you're oversimplifying Bailey's character, to say that she hasn't changed since season 1 is a gross misrepresentation. From Season 1, we knew Bailey as the Nazi, hard as nails, tough, demanding, unyielding, we had no idea about her or her family side or if she even had a soft side. Now, she's letting her humanity show, while still maintaining the essence of the Nazi, she definitely has grown since that very first introduction mid-season of 2005.
As she said, "Nobody better call me 'Nazi' again."

im really shocked! ellen, patrick, katherine, kevin they really deserved to be nominated!!
and even GREYS ANATOMY for drama series... this is bad and sad!
And ultimatley, I think it's very hard for a pre-nomination to get through final-nomination considering network television has to compete with cable-television.
I'm seriously guys, cable-television programming has been awesome and that kind of competition makes it really tough. True Blood, Mad Men, Big Love, Dexter? I mean those are some QUALITY-shows. I'm a little disappointed that not GA-nods made it to the finals for support actor: I felt PD and JC really brough their A-game.
Also, EP's performance this year has been by far the best she's brought to GA so again, I'm disappointed that she didn't make it to the finals either, but then again, look at the competition.. 4 cable-shows, and they're quite good too. Still, I think had the cable-shows not been a factor in the emmy's, I think EP would've made it.

How is Bailey the most "complex female character in GA"?
All the contrary, she is the simplest, she is the bossy and I know it all character, nothing more, she has not developed at all since the first season.
Personally, I think this season she overacted a lot, especially with all the sick children plot. I get it's something that affects her, but it was too over the top.
I think Ellen plays a more complex woman, and I prefer her subtle acting to over the top Chandra.
And what can I say about Sandra, she is being amazing since the first episode, how it is that they haven't given her an Emmy already is something that I'll never understand.
I think it definitely speaks of Sandra and Chandra's talents that they've been consistently nominated from the very beginning. Those two characters really require acting-chops, and Oh and Wilson definitely have it.
