I believe he made the right desicion.
After the Isaiahgate George's character was been totally humilliated.
He cheat his wife with his best friend.
    He failed his exams.
He never got the chance to be with Izzie. Their relationship last only 4-5 episodes and the end was so lame.
    He named "chicken-kisser".
    Then was chief's bitch.
During that his best friendship with Izzie end with no explanation and his xwife turned into a horny lesbian.
We never saw him be with the rest of the fab5.
We never saw him while Izzie got cancer. He even went to the army before be sure that Izzie is fine.
That's not George. Not the sweet, kind, funny George we met and love. Who was the heart of the fab5. Is someone else.
I don't know what happened between him and Shonda or ABC. But when someone walk away from $ 14 millions then i guess he have very good reasons.
I was hopping to see him at the first few episodes but it seems that it's not going to happen.
I also believe that him going is because of

    Megan,

In addition to what Marie said, Isaiah actually auditioned for PD's Derek Shepherd, which by the time it was being offered to Rob Lowe. Obviously this caused conflict between them from the get go once PD got the role.

IW clearly has anger issues and it doesn't excuse him from saying what he said. PD was trying to defend TR from something that wasn't even that big. IW made the wrong choice here. And he obviously did it again at the GG. THAT was stupid on his part. He was wrong. Sometimes an apology isn't enough.

BTW, by the time of the incident, all three men were having a good amount of storyline. George had the Callie issue, Burke was shot and Derek...well, was being Derek between Addie and Mer. They all had a significant amount of screentime. It still isn't an excuse.

We all know that IW is a persona non grata at the GA set, however, I do think that Burke is necessary for one more episode to close a chapter in Cristina's life so she can fully move on with Owen. H

    Gwen,

It's fine. I rather be civil than the usual name calling angry bashing that sometimes I see here, so it's all cool. :)

I read the article a couple of days ago and to me, it did sound as he gave up. I don't know what went through his mind at that time but maybe he already was ready for something else and decided to stay in the back while he made his final decision. I think that if TR really wanted to stay, he could've gone straight to ABC executives. I find it hard to believe that both ABC and Shonda & Co. let him out that easily. Something had to be offered but it wasn't enough for him. I hope that he was right at the end.

I honestly can't help but to feel for Shonda because this woman is to blame for everything that goes wrong for the show when she isn't the only one running it. As the clear example of Brooke Smith. I honestly could've taken more Erica Hahn but ABC apparently didn't and fired her. Same with Isiah-gate.

It did look that Isiah-gate was going to p

Oh please Megan. TR had more screentime than Isiah ever did. He had a lot more screentime the two first seasons Isiah did. If anything, Isiah was full on jealous about Patrick Dempsey having more stories and screentime than him. Isiah auditioned for Derek and Patrick got it, and it's a well-known fact IW always hated PD for it and was terribly jealous.

That's why he was choking Patrick. Yes, you do seem to be forgetting the choking Patrick incident in all this, do you? That's grounds for etrmination anywhere.

I know. I'm a translator and I was just translating a text about two people who got fired for getting into a physical altercation. They got fired. Attacking a colleague physically makes you lose your job.

He also insulted TR. If TR had called Isiah the n word, would you expect Isiah to just get over it? No you would have asked for TR to be fired immediately.

Isiah didn't even feel guilty. He said he only apologized because he was forced too.

    If this was really some

I for one hope Isiah doesn't come back... I can't stand him or his character.

I really really wish T.R. had stayed but I understand him wanting to leave and do other things.

haha he DOES look very very yummy here! :D

  6. megan

As far as Isiah goes...everyone says things they don't mean when they are angry. Does this give him the right to call TR what he did...NO. But, it is over. He got him fired. I head TR was just jealous because Isiah and Patrick were both getting more screen time. Whatever. It does not matter. He is gone. I am happy. He didn't really fit in anywhere. And after the whole Izzie scandal I lost interest in both of their characters. They acted like they were 16.

Just wish they could write Izzie off....but that may be a little much at one time!

My comments on this article and TR's speaking out are perfectly said in drcookchick's words:

"To be honest, I admire him for this. They forgot to put in the quote about how he wants to be happy with his job and couldn't care less about the amount of money he's making. Also, he makes a very valid point about not being able to trust Shonda's word. I recall many quotes from Shonda that were to promise the viewers something and the polar opposite happened.

He's not being ungrateful, and he's not bad mouthing anyone. This was the right decision, IMO. He needs to get as far away from Grey's as possible so he can go forward in his career as an actor.

I'm proud of him and look forward to hearing about his future projects and hope to see him on the stage. It'd be so great to see him live and to see such a talent.

Just adding this in because I can be such a fangirl: he looks GREAT! I've never seen him look so good."

I, too am proud of him for speaking out... for continuing to be s

When asked why she didn't try to convince from leaving she said,"I looked in his face and he was really sure." That doesn't sound like she put up an effort.

Think about it also she gave him an obvious retread of an ER SL as his big story. What would've been next a Vicodin addiction leading to confinement in an institution? Or him morphing into a rapist (St. Elsewhere)? In truth the failed intern exam also came from St. Elsewhere. It seems she really has no idea what to do with him.

  9. Gwen

    Anuflas,

I'm not addressing you angrily but these might help you understand TR's decision to leave. By December, whenhemakes the request the January episodes are filmedor in the process with the Feb. sweeps SL's finalized. He already knows he's not integral to any story. That's about 2/3 of the season done.

In the article itself he comes off much softer. He did try to consult Shonda about matters and she, in her words, said she was too busy to deal with him.

As for Isaiah-gate he said he doesn't blame her and moved on but he had to admit that was the point in which their relationship changed. She grew more distant towards him.

When you think about Shonda consistently manipulates, misleads, and is rude towards the fans. Why would it be any different with her underlings? Recall she said she deliberately made him invisible for the season finale. If true then she didn't inform him and made him feel insecure about his status on the show. Personally I think she's lying but it d

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking TR is hot. I just can't stop looking at him there.

I'm going to miss so very much. I hope he knows how much we the fans love him and how special George was to us.

    TR is HOOOOOT! :p

  12. Marianne

    TR looks hot hot hot.

I'll miss him so much. George and Gizzie were why I watched Grey.

  13. Gina

Yes and because he was a homophobic ass.

I for one will never forget TR or George. They're both so special.

  14. Melissa

Burke will never come back because the actor that played him was fired.

  15. fearless52p12

    Grace you are 100000% right.

A lot of people have jobs they hate. And they don't have an option. They don't get to choose where to work. And it's sucks.
But TR had options. He already have 2 roles waiting for him. Because he is an amazing actor.
He could just stay in GA, take the $14m, and said "i'm rich".
But that's not his character. He needs to work. He needs to be happy.
He wasn't happy with his work in GA last year.
He could stay, see him for a minute/episode in the backround and take the money but TR made a choice. A hard choice. He choose work over money. That's so rare and i admire him for that.
I don't like GA anymore. I 'll continue watching it but not with the same love like at the beggining.
I'm gonna miss George and Gizzie moments. They were the reason i loved GA. But now... I dont know.

  16. vstewart

I will miss him! I just wish they're pay him a little money to be in the first couple of shows so we can say goodbye properly.

  17. Cleo

I'll never forget George, my favorite character of all time. The kind sweet man with the million-dollar smile and the kindest eyes.

I'll never forget TR and his funny laugh, wonderful talent and big big heart. He makes me smile.

    He's one in a billion.

He's right there in my heart.

  18. Emily

It seems like TR went to her many times in the past only to be lied too.

I don't blame him. George seemed less than wallpaper this season. The fab 4 moved on without him and everyone seemed to forget he even existed.

I wonder if he had asked to be not written for, but it seems he wanted to work and they wouldn't use him.

It feels like Shonda stopped loving George the last two seasons. Even last year with the Gexie story, it seemed all about Lexie and not about George. It felt like they threw George under the bus to have people sympathize with Lexie and care about her. George and his feelings never mattered in it.

I don't know if it's the IW thing but I find it weird Shonda always wrote like a complex lovable character the three first seasons, then IW gets fired and George first becomes a prop device then vanishes.

I was frustrated too. I think I wrote week after week on that Grey matter blog, asking where George was and telling her to please show him and to please make h

  19. kiki

Well I won't forget George cos I've the GA dvd's. I love all the MAGIC interactions, shame George disappeared in S5.I wonder how soon he'll return to a hit tv series?

  20. Grace

Except TR was erased from the show, which as TR quite rightly pointed out has NEVER happened to any other characters on the show.

Don't tell me they couldn,t have had George be there for Izzie when she was sick. The other fab 4 were in the room and George was the only one absent. Don't tell me George couldn't have had scenes with the erst of the fab 4. It was pretty obvious when they all would be at the cafeteria together and he would not be there. Don't tell me George couldn't have been part of Izzie's wedding party like all the others were.

Don't tell me they couldn't have tone down on Izzie's cancer story one episode to have George say his goodbyes to the others before he went to the army.

George's vanishing was so extreme that even the critics picked up on it. I don't remember them doing this for any other actor.

The others had light stories in the past but they were never taken out of the show. They never stood complete episodes without saying one word except for yes,

  21. me

you people need to realize how hard it is to write a show in general not to mention for an all star ensemble cast such as this. not everyone can have a main story line all the time. its a hard job to include everyone constantly. if you are patient your time will come but you have to let other people than yourselves have some time in the spotlight. people are too critical when they don't understand what really goes on behind the scenes and only take what tabloids and magazines report as "stories".

  22. Becca

Amen! TR is unforgettable with those beautiful eyes and beautiful smile.

I can't believe some still want the violent homophobic jerk back.

TR has done nothing wrong here. He just told his side of the story, and I'm glad he did.

I really hope he makes it big. He's a superstar in my book.

  23. Allie

Oh please. That'd be more Isiah thing. You know the dude who wouldn't shut up for months and months about TR and the show and gave 15 different accounts of his story?

I'm really sick and tired of people defending Isiah when he choked Patrick and threw a homophobic slur at TR without even feeling guilty about it.

I noticed a lot of homophobic posters showing up on this site. Under the photo of TR and Mark, there was so many nasty homophobic comments. Is there no moderation here because I find this offenseive?

TR doesn't have to do anything to make us remember him. The fans who love him and there's a lot of us will always remember him.

    He's unforgettable.

  24. DirtySexySloan

Well I'm glad to see that TR has a found a way to keep himself in the spotlight. I don't think he's brave for telling his side, I think he's doing it so he's still in the spotlight and so people don't forget about him. For his sake I hope he's not burning any bridges, you never know what the future holds.
    Paging Dr. Burke..

  25. patrasfan

I wish all the best for TR.
Finally he said that all this was a result of Shonda's behaviour.
And when someone says that i couldn't trust any answers then i guess he has very good reasons to believe that.
    IW was one reason.
The fact that his character got a divorce so that he can be with Izzie and 5 episodes!!!!! later they broke up too, was one more reason.
The 2 minutes per episode airtime was another reason.
You don't have to be Einstain to realise that Shonda didn't want him anymore. And because there are contract's she couldn't fire him, so she choose another way to get him out of the show. And she did it.
    Congratulation Shonda.
