Coming to Gossip Girl: Vanessa Abrams' Mom!
Spotted: Hundreds of actresses who look like Jessica Szohr, only 20 years older, racing to Gossip Girl casting offices. Why? Vanessa’s mom is being introduced!
Great. Someone new for our own Gossip Guy to hate on.
Regarding this Gossip Girl casting note, EW reports that Gabriela Abrams is an African-American female in her 40s, an attractive, warm, and outgoing mother.
Jessica Szohr is also of African-American (and Hungarian) descent.
The character has potential to be recurring. Are you excited to meet Vanessa's mother? What sort of role do you think she'll play on the show in Season Three?

They pickt a African-American woman to play her mother because it would be more realistic. I agree Vanessa/Jessica doesent look all black but in real life she's also of African-American descent soo i think your wrong :P

i really don't think "millions" of people stopped watching the show just because of Vanessa in that episode. Thats just a bit ridiculous and far fetched.
