Well, If Meredith deals with Georges death in a "very Mer way" I just hope that Derek will be strong and understanding with whatever she does. I hope he's not insensitive like the way he was at the end of S3 when she was dealing with her mom's,step mom deaths and Thatcher. All I have to say is he better be there for her and show her he's there for her no matter what, just as she did when he was in the woods.

I still just can't believe that George's story ends like that..I understand why TR didnt want to guest for the first episode back but I really think it would have at least rounded things off in some way for George. I've been watching reruns of season 1 and 2 (actually last night I got up to the episode where Meredith and George sleep together!) and George is sooo different back then. He really turned into a mature, professional, competent surgeon - I'm so bummed his story ends like this!

I think Mer's gonna show up at the funeral with tequila at the ready when she gets home. I really miss George already, and spent the day really sad when I found out he was leaving :'(. If Izzie gets hallucinations again, I bet they'll be with George, not Denny. Although, who will play him. I wish T.R. at least stayed for a few episodes, just 2 or 3. :'(
R.I.P George O'Malley. :'(

Hhhmmm... I wonder if the new doc from Owens past is going to be a MALE or a FEMALE....
I'm listening to I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Deathcab For Cutie. If yall are grieving like I am than this song fits well. :(

Neither do I anticipate how Mer handles George's death. I hope she deals it in a more matured way.
Of course Cristina would be affected, as for everyone. Gosh I wonder how is the new cardio surgeon is related to Owen's past... I'm so curious!

"A very Meredith-like way" would be to tell everyone she's fine, and bury her sadness in a dark, twisty place, like she did with her mother's death. But then again, there have also been deaths that visibly affected her-Susan Grey's, William's, Grace Bickham's...so there are different ways she might react.
As for Izzie, I, too, thought she'd wake up and just know that George is dead, just like when Meredith was resuscitated and knew that Ellis died.

This is the first time I'm not looking forward to the show, because the show coming back means George will be dead officially and I can,t accept that. It makes me cry.

George's funeral will be the saddest moment in Grey's history.
I'm going to cry so much even more than I did when I found out it was him on that table.

Meredith-like way? But what Meredith are we talking about? The old one that drowns or puts her hand in bombs or the new one that is whole and healed?
I honestly think that making Mer drown her sorrows in tequila would be a HUGE step back to the five seasons of growth that the show has been building. To me, THAT would be commiting the show's suicide.
I don't find it plausible that Mer would cheat on Derek. She knows the pain that caused that his first marriage crumble, she's not stupid and ruin what she has with him, just to deal with death.
I don't know how they'll write off Meredith to EP's maternity leave, I just hope that Derek goes with her, whatever it is.
As for George, it is going to be a tough episode to watch. I'm curious to see why Callie won't be there.
Ugh, they should've killed Izzie.
The more and more I read about the upcoming season, the less I want to see it. I'm starting to feel like Mer on the bomb episode, when she doesn't want to get out of bed.

It doesn't make any sense that Callie is not going...Shonda really messed up the show last season, and it doesn't seem for me that she would make things better this season either...killing off George that way is just sort of a way to show power, but no one cares about her power if she uses it like this. Grey's Anatomy is about the characters after all, and not about her.
I'm not really hopeful about MerDer either...I mean, Ellen Pompeo being totally pregnant, and Meredith not...

MerDer is my favorite coupe, after Gizzie so I hope she doesn't cheat on him. As a George and Mer FRIENDSHIP fan, I'm glad they are showing Mer effected by this however.
I'm going to be a basket case watching this episode. I'm not sure how i will watch without my George.

hmm... a "very meredith-like way"? could it be getting drunk and sleeping with inappropriate men? it is, after all, her thing. but as a merder fan, i'd have to say that i sincerely hope that that does not happen.
though meredith's emotional shut-downs are not much better...tough call.

Yeah that wwould make sense. I am more a Gizzie fan than a Gallie fan, but they have a lot of history and love between them despite how it ended. Callie was worried about George going to the army. There is no way she wouldn't go because she doesn't care.
This is all so sad. I really love George. I know he's a fictional character and all, but I really love him and miss him.
This is going to be heartbreaking for me.

There has been speculation that Callie doesn't go to the funeral because she can't handle it. I really don't think she would just blow it off as nothing considering the history that they had together.

Hmm because George was a friend of hers. I know Cristina doesn't show her feelings much but George was part of the group of interns she worked with for five years. Of course she would be affected.
Remember how she helped him when his dad died? Cristina has a good heart underneath.
George was such a sweet guy, and everyone there loved him. I think even Alex liked him in his own weird way.
I really love that featured picture of george by the side. He looks so pensive and soulful in it.
I miss him already.
