What lies ahead for Tess Mercer on season nine of Smallville?

In a word: trouble.

In the season nine promo aired at Comic-Con (shown below), Tess is fighting with new baddie Major Zod. In an interview with E! News, actress Cassidy Freeman said of her character's arc:

"We start out heavy. In the first episode, we start out really going at it, and it's really fun."

So, can Tess handle what's ahead on Smallville?

"She has to figure out whether she's screwed the pooch or whether she's doing a good thing. She hasn't figured it out yet, but she absolutely will," said Cassidy.
