I love how everyone thinks George was shipping out to Iraq the next day. When people enlist in the military even just to be a medic they still have to go through months of basic combat training before they're sent off. The army wouldn't just take any civilian off the street and send them to Iraq in a uniform. They have to take the civilian out of them and turn them into soldiers which is the whole point of boot camp and BCT. It wouldve been at least 4 to 6 months before he actually left the country.

Shonda said three episodes, then later on, she said one. Who can keep up with her lies and different stories? The woman lies all the time. Why would she use the character when he was dead when she didn't use him when he was alive?
It's so funny how Shonda has her own personal bodyguards on this board. This is the same woman who keeps lying to the fans, telling them to chill and shut the hell up.
She doesn't respect the fans, but we should respect her.
TR is doing a very complex play which demands a lot of rehearsal because he sings and dances in it.
Did Shonda think he would be sitting in front of the TV eating bonbons and waiting for her call? He's a talented actor.
She knew in December he was leaving. So why didn't she give us more scenes with him? We wouldn't be feeling this angry if we had seen more of him before he died.
And Lana, if you're going to be spouting the anti-Shonda koolaid, at least get a few things straight before you fully immerse yourself in your tirade.
Despite being on-air for five years, it's only been a year and half, maybe two years within the GA-universe. Not five. So to say that Derek has known George for five years is a complete fallacy.
Owen wasn't "closer" to George; professionally, maybe, but not personally. It wasn't as if the two were slugging beers at Joe's after work. Owen had his entire squad killed in Iraq and he was the only survivor; having George die on the table really isn't as comparable as that, and since Owen is still dealing wiht that, it's appropriate for him to be reserved in a situation such as this.

LOL, I bet Shonda will miss the George fans when they stop watching though. Shonda doesn't want to lose fans, does she? But hey if people keep encouraging other fans to quit, I can see them doing just that and the ratings falling even more.
She is doing it that way. I'm tired of being told we should stop whining.
Why should we? I couldn't care less that she created George. It gives her no excuse to treat George like dirt the last two seasons because she was angry at TR for what Isiah did to him.
Shonda asked TR to come back for ONE episode not THREE. She said so in her interview. And she wanted him to come back to show him die.
We didn,t want to see George when he was dead. We wanted to see him when he was ALIVE. Hello, that's pretty easy to understand, no?
She had months to write a decent exit for him and to give his fans a real chance to say goodbye. Months, and she didn't, so you have a lot of nerve to blame TR for this.
I honestly didn't think it was insensitive for Owen to say what he said; Owen dealt with death first-hand in Iraq and in the military. There's something to be said about being somewhat immune to death's effects. And whether he knew of any pre-existing relationships between George and everyone else, Owen was just being Owen: cold, distant, unattached. Sound familiar?
Let's not forget Christina and how excited she was about Gorked Guy in the Dead Baby Race episode in Season 1.

Why haven’t we seen very much of George this season? I understand that there are ebbs and flows on ensemble dramas but…
RHIMES: There are ebbs and flows. Every character this season has had a lot of ebbs and flows. And every season is shaped differently. With George, I really wanted you to not notice that he wasn’t there for most of this episode. I don’t think anybody noticed because of the way we laid it out this season. He’s an incredibly talented actor. And, actually, he was really lovely and elegant about lying there in all that very painful makeup and prosthetics for much of the episode with no words. That moment where he grabs Meredith’s hand is one of the most affecting moments of the episode, and it was without words.

Could I also say in addition to the last post - the simplest answer is always the right one. Grey's Anatomy I am sorry does not give twists and turns. Meredith didn't die and they killed off Denny which were both evident in those clips as well. All that is happening is second guessing.
And let's be honest - Shonda is having problems with the cast because of her personality and that is why people are fighting and leaving. What makes this show so good is the core group of actors and their relationship. Keep it as is - let them work through their residency and get places and end the series. This is great, but it is not ER material. As for TR Knight and Katherine Heigel. Stay with the work....you guys are good, but Grey's makes you look great. Never forget where you come from - ask the actors from NYPD Blue. You have long periods off use those, don't quit or take breaks.

Do you people not realize that that was in fact TR Knight as Mangled George in the season finale? Now, it's not him in the premiere, obviously, because TR's left and didn't want to make any kind of final appearance. This time around the bloody mess is being played by a stunt double and some special effects, but in the finale it WAS actually TR Knight as Bus-Squashed George. Maybe a reason to the Jon Doe had written 007 is because he is actually one of the George´s brothers and he was calling for George and not telling Meredith that he was the own 007. This theory also could explain the presence of George´s mother in the photos of funeral that we´ve seen.
George´s brothers were taller than him (Season 3 episode 12 - Six Days part2 - (the scene of farting))even than not too much taller.
Well, I think that this is more what I hope that what I guess, but it would be a very good start for the season.
Congratulations to all of the writers, directors, producers and actors of this amazing series.

I don't want to be pessimist , but i really think all we are going to be disappointed.. I know that we didn't watch the premiere yet, but there are 2 possibilities and of course one of them will be true:
1- John Doe is not George ... we will be disappointed because John Doe wrote 007 on meredith's hand, and there will not be a good reason to say why he wrote 007 if he's not george .. who will he be than ?? No other options ..
2- John Doe is George ... we will be disappointed because we are spoiled, the episode will be very predictable , and we will be a lot more disappointed because noe our hopes are up after we heard what lexie said ..
P.S : I know that john doe's face is unrecognizable , but we know very well george's eyes !! and we saw them on John Doe .. I don't know if it's part of the twist if there is a twist , but is it not a reason to believe that john doe is george ?

omg Shonda is a magician or a God .. lexie said for 2 seconds that it's not george, and all the people are guessing it's really not george.. waww .. what a woman lol .. u can think all day for reasons why it's not george, but the fact that he wrote 007 on meredith's hand is enough .. and if it's not george who wrote 007 than who could be john doe ? james bond ? come on ppl
I know there are multiple reasons that explain it's not george : Lexie's quote, callie not being at the funeral, the sneak peek. and i thought maybe it's not george's funeral, maybe it's the chief's niece's funeral and that's why derek needs to take richad's job.. i don't know.

I think it was mentioned in the finale that “John Doe” was dragged by the bus, his body took a beating and he is beyond recognition. So Callie may be able to identify him as George now that they have been informed that its actually George but I don’t think she would be 100% certain, that’s why they need Mrs O’Malley who legally should be the one doing the identification. Callie is the ex wife even if she knows intimate details of his body. One spoiler I read mentions Mrs O’Malley asking Callie to do the identification on her behalf and Callie wanting to be certain asks Izzie, there is a sneak peek of Alex and Callie in Izzie’s room telling her that George is brain dead.
I don’t think Shonda or abc would want the kind of backlash they would get if George suddenly walked through the door having missed his bus to Iraq. Lexie is in denial and her mind refuses to accept that possibility that like everyone else, they missed that they were trying to save their bes

This time around the bloody mess is being played by a stunt double and some special effects, but in the finale it WAS actually TR Knight as Bus-Squashed George. Why would they have TR Knight playing some random person who they THINK is George?
Shonda is playing with you guys, and u ae falling in her trap.. she posted a sneak peek where the actors are happy, and then posted a video where lexie said it's not george... THE

@ Lara
