Coming Soon: A Grey's Anatomy Holiday Bonanza
Grey’s Anatomy will bid farewell to 2009 later this season when the Seattle Grace staff celebrates Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s - all in one very special installment.
“We’re pretty excited,” show creator Shonda Rhimes tells TV Guide of the big Grey's Anatomy event. “We’ll be watching time pass as we take the audience into the new year.”
Sadly, this isn't to say all the news is warm, fuzzy and joyous.
From the sound of it, the Season Six drama shifts away from medical and professional drama and focuses instead on characters’ personal hopes, dreams and disappointments.
Over the holidays, “people feel like something magical or momentous should happen,” Rhimes explains, but certainly speaks the truth when she says “But often nothing does.”
Among other story lines, we'll be seeing how Bailey became Bailey.
In the episode, we will meet Miranda Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) mother, whom Rhimes describes as “more Bailey than Bailey. You’ll finally see where Bailey gets her stuff.”
In between unwrapping gifts, Mark and Lexie’s happiness will be rocked by the arrival of a character from his past who Rhimes says will cause them “to fall on hard times.”
Meanwhile, over on Grey’s Anatomy's sister show, Private Practice, Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) will be getting a surprise visit from her dad, whom she calls “The Captain.”
He's played by Stephen Collins, while her mom, Bizzy, will be played by JoBeth Williams.
Over a three-episode arc, kicking off in mid-November, Rhimes says Addison will finally get to the bottom of some more of the redhead's “shocking family secrets.”
Well, it is the holidays, right?

Christina is obviously going for cardio (I've known this since s3) and I felt more unsure for mer's specialty than Alex. Alex is definetly going towards peds/neonatal surgery he has this bond with kids that you can't deny so I think he'll go for that. Mer again I'm not sure but I think she should go general not neuro (but I do think it will be a battle for her) I think Izzie will catch up because it's just the beginning of their careers as 3rd year residents so I don't see a problem here. I do think that Izzie's specialty may be surgical oncology but I have reservations for that due to her being so emotionally attached to patients and cancer patients having high mortality odds but it would be cool though. If not then she should go general no question. I think it's too soon to be thinking about cheif resident because they have another 2 years before they can even be eligible fyi.
Can't wait for these holiday eps I miss them and can't wait to see Bailey's mom :D!

Totally agree. A/I, M/L, O/C fans are very worried that they'll break up but MerDer found their way back, they always did. The rest will too. They are just bumps in the way. Annoying and angsty but bumps. Nothing unrepairable.
I hate sounding so awful but I hope that neither Lexie or Alex move back with Mer. MerDer deserve some privacy of their own home. She has a marriage to care for now and as compassionate and great as she can be, she needs to be selfish in this case.
Also, word on the timeline. It's about time that they get things moving on a normal pace. I think that by the end of this season, MAC should have their specialties chosen. Izzie may need another year.
Cris definitely is going to Cardio. I think Mer will be lingering between Neuro and General (for both Derek and her mom), this can cause the normal MerDer tension (without having to be relationship wise), and Alex is the one I don't know. I think he's also going to apply to General but I can't see anoth

I'm with you Jude on Alex going into peds. And I believe that Mer will go into Neuro. And Chris will be a heart surgeon. Cause she needs to feel a heart beat in her hands. Hopefully...The new doctor will help her with that. But who knows if that will happen since the new heart doc is supposed to be one of Owen's exes.

For everyone about to lament their fav couples are about to break up, take heart, how many times did MerDer break up? Alex and Iz had their fair share of on off times, so plz don't despair. It's not over til...well you know..
I found season2 where Meredith was so sad over Thanksgiving, and she and Der said a proper goodbye; then when Der told Ad at Christmas he had fallen in love with Meredith so sad. I hope we see something nice for MerDer!
I just have this feeling that Lex is going to regret moving in with Sloan so quickly, and poor Alex is going to gravitate to moving back to Mer's. What's the betting Lex moves back to Mer's also?
I find it very intersting the rate with which the GA writers are moving this GA year on. It took 3 seasons to get MAGIC to finish their intern year, 2 seasons for them to almost finish their 2nd year. I have always hoped that we would see MAGIC complete their residencies, and now it's only MAC (Mer, Alex, Cris)seemingly able to complete this. B

Anuflas...TY that kinda made my day. LOL!!!! I'm sorry I really don't like them or Owen Hunt. I was happy when I thought he was going back to Iraq and then he stayed:( There is something about the intern Jackson that I like and for some reason. I see him and Christina together. (I HOPE) As he fights to be a better doc maybe he will become hot to her. LOL!!! I think they would be really cute together. Oh and I miss spoke somewhere here on this form and said that Izzy was off shooting a movie. I was wrong. She is off getting to know her new baby or so that is what I've read. And poor ALex. The boy just can't catch a break. When he finally lets his self love. The crazy chicks in his life leave him. I didn't always like Izzy cause of the whole George/Callie/Izzy thing. But since she got cancer. I have liked her alot better. I felt so sorry for her when the chief fired her I cryed. Yayyy we are just 29 hrs away from tonights episode:)

Not to fight it but in the ABC Panel (if you visit TWOP, they have some of the comments that went on), the majority of the comments said that they disliked Slexie and the merger storyline. So they aren't popular but I understand that there are some that actually like them.
For the daughter theory, there hasn't been an official confirmation of what this 18 year old is going to do in the show. It's speculation. The fact that she is a recurring gues star makes the speculation. All those episodes (9 through 12) had to be re-written by SR, so it might have changed something.
I love Mark and like Lexie but separated. I hope that we do get to know more Mark.

YAY!!! finally new holiday episodes. I hope Mexie don't break up, weren't my fave at the beginning but they grew on me and now I do like them.

Okay I love Slexie! And "Haters", for your information, Slexie has lots of FANS, so don't write that EVERYBODY hates them, 'couse you are pretty much alone with your opinion.
And for the theory, sorry to disappoint you all, but the 18-year old girl is definitely NOT casted as Mark's daughter, its official!!

BUT what i've "heard" is, that the idea of MARK's parents appearing to bring us closer to, the jet-has-to-be-defined, childhood of Mark, is seems to be more and more appealing to our GA-writers!!!

Oh and another thing. Isn't it about time for Addison to come back to SGH for a visit? She needs to meet the peds doc and do some other things. LOL!!! I love her on Greys better.
