Dude, I can't believe this. My best friend totally called it if Bart really did fake his own death. Think about it... we didn't see an accident or a body. It came at a time when Lily was probably about ready to end her relationship with Bart... I don't know. But why would he take such a drastic measure?
I guess it could be a flashback, but isn't Chuck done angsting over his father's death? I mean, is it really going to come down to Chuck feeling lonely without his father on Christmas? Good Lord, I hope not because uh, that would not be believable. Also, the spoilers are saying a "dead dad returns." How would it be news if it was just in a flashback?
No, my guess is that Bart Bass is returning from the dead. Holy crap, what will Chuck do?!?!?!?

well, I dont know about what is going to be bart's return, if is a memorial, or a dream, or whatever, I just hope that chuck do not return to his old ways, I would really like to see something like a letter or a videotape for chuck were bart were saying that he had always believed in him...
and I know he can not be alive, is not "real", but I love bart, and he had to die just when things btw father and son were getting better )=, and actually I prefer lily and bart than rufus and lily, dont kill me!

As for the spoiler, maybe we'll even find out more about the Secret Society Bart Bass was in. They abandoned that storyline to make room for the Lily flashback episode. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Bart Bass return.

Another theory would be that Bart appears on Chuck's dream and leads him to find out that his mother did not die, but that Bart sent her away for possibly cheating on him, and led Chuck to believe that she was dead. Also I don't know how I feel about Bart returning, he was a great character, but I like Lily and Rufus and the was Chuck has become close to Lily, and this might ruin things. Chuck became a different person when he lost Bart.

I had a feeling that Bart wasn't dead. He probably pretened to fake his death, so he can see if Chuck can really run the business or fool around.

Just an FYI but the tentative title of Bart's "return" episode is ''The DeBARTed''. If you logically think about Bart's ''death'' then you will realize two major facts. 1) they never actually showed anything to do with Bart's car accident and 2) they never showed Bart's coffin or him being buried. All they showed us was a newspaper clipping of Bart's ''death'' announcement and the cemetery. GG writers would give distinct closure to a real Bart death, if not for the pure fact of t.v. entertainment, but for the Rufus/Lily lovers who would finally have their answer of them getting together without Lily seeming like a bad person. BTW, I missed Bart and am happy for his (evil and vindictive) return!

Well I'm in class and english is not my first language about a life i rather writte weird grammatically thoughts rather than listen one more time bernuilli(cra..) .I think it was weird the "accident" of bart death.But if it is not a flashback maybe bart wasn't his father .Perhaps jack?I mean gossip girl said "dark forces "and i was oh darkvader is here.Lol.I just wish blair jack sl was a lie.

why do we love gossip girl, because it is more realistic than other shows. why whould they ruin that by making somebody back alive. it better be just a memorial.
I knew it! right from the start I wasn't convinced that bart died. and that he just faked his own death.

He better be a freaking zombie.
I hope this is just a flashback. Gossip Girl could mention him as she is reminiscing about xmas past. He better not be alive. Besides, why would John Burke come back for ONE guest appearance if it turns out Bart was alive all along. I think they would need a few more episodes to resolve that plot and I highly doubt Burke is up for that. He did leave the show.
Please tell me it's not a back from the dead thing, have you people forgotten this is not an occult show?

I agree with MartaBass, I think on the anniversary of Bart's death Chuck will get a video or find letters having to go with Bart... hopefully this will lead into him finding out something interesting : like his mother wasn't really dead, or he has a half-sister. It may also have to do with his shadier dealings : like the murder he basically confessed to in the episode where Dan was shadowing him.

I am so excited 4 the Bart comeback. I actually liked the character and would love 2 see more from him. I hope its either he was never dead just hiding out for a minute maybe because of his dealing with the psycho secret society or that its some type of christmas carole. That would be fun 2 watch as wee. Whatever it is though I can't wait!

you know what would be great? If Serena actually had to pay the consequences just once for any of her actions...I have yet to see why blair would want to be her friend...for as mean as blair is to most people, to her friends she will do anything...that thing with chuck was completely out of character. she has been everyones door mat for far too long, when will she be back on top...
i LOVE evil jenny far better then rocker chick jenny....she is prettier and can dish it out-plus it makes eric actually interesting
and wow the return of Lily that loves rufus instead of the lily that can't stop complaining about him. hello he took care of kids that weren't his for an entire summer including serena who is the most selfish self absorbed brat out there. Lily owes rufus

Maybe bart faked his own death because he was going to jail, or was being investigated. Maybe he was hiding out with jack, when he does show up Chuck will resent what he did and side with Lily, after all she has been like a mother to him, more of a parent then Bart ever was.

If you think about it you'll remember that Bart died in december last season (chuck was gone for a month and he returned middle january-more or less- hence his father died the first days or middle of december) so maybe the episode he returns will be the one of the anniversary of his death.
I think he will appear maybe in a posthomous video...or a flashback...
