Another thing I hope Thatcher doesn't die, because I really want him to learn and understand the damage he caused Meredith.

I think Lexie knows that Meredith is a match because she read everybody files back in season 4. That is why she asking Meredith to donated. I think Lexie sees this chance and takes it. I don't think Lexie is thinking that Molly can also be a match.
Now thinking about it I think Meredith should donated part of her liver to Thatcher, because every time Thatcher sees the transplant scar it would remind him that the daughter he abandoned was the one who saved his life and worst of all Thatcher won't be able to take credit for Meredith's generosity because she didn't learn it from him.
Shot that would be the biggest slap in the face a person can receive and the biggest lesson any father who abandoned his children can learn.

Thatch only acted like a father for the first 5 years of Mer's life. She does owe him nothing.He owes HER everything, cos he's her father. He never had contact, never told her about his new familyetc.
Thatch was very responsble for screwing up Mer as a child and that affected her so much as an adult. Mer couldn't trust Der cos she thought he would eventually leave too cos she didn't deserve to be loved.
But it will happen, cos Mer Is whole and healed and happy. She doesn't need Thatch

I think this storyline was written to cover Ellen's pregnancy. Kirsta has stated that Ellen will be in ALL the episodes of GA this season. Having Mer in a hospital bed means Ellen was getting to rest! So I think it will happen, otherwise why show someone on an operating table in trouble.
But I think Thatch is a very flawed man.That he could walk away from seeing Mer without a fight! Thach couldn't remember that the photo he had of a 5 year old girl wasn't of Molly, but Mer. Very hurtful.Then he slapped Mer,stopped her from attending Susan's funeral. I know he was grief stricken, but it was awful! I think his apology to Mer and Lex was aimed mainly at Lex. Mer's closed body language gave away her true feeling.
I'm going to go off Lexie again. I don't like what seems to be emmotional blackmail to get Mer to do this. It'll be interesting to see if Der and Mark get pulled into this and it causes a rift between the 2 couples

I'm so sorry to hear that you went through a similar situation.
I also don't believe Thatcher is going to be man enough to refuse it and wait around for a donor. As we've seen in the show, he hasn't been much of a self-respected person. He also doesn't comprehend the amount of damage he did to Meredith.

Interesting, I've never thought of Derek as a spoiled but now that you mentioned it, he just might be. Although I honestly think that Addison turned him this spoiled way. I think that Derek stopped being spoiled last season after the Jenn case. Cristina on the other hand...not so much. Still, I enjoy her.

As Derek said, Meredith doesn’t owe Thatcher anything.
She will do it because she can, not because she has to.
She is loyal and truthful in what she believes. Since 1x01 she showed it for George in his first surgery, against all other interns. Last season she fought for that little girl (5x21) against the Chief’s orders and for that serial killer (5x12 and 5x13) disobeying Derek’s orders.
Things are not always in black and white, and as Mrs. Shepherd said, Meredith didn’t see like that.
She’ll do not for him or Lexie. She’ll do even if Derek thinks she shouldn’t have to. She’ll do because she is who she is. Not as a doctor, but a better person than he was for her. And it’s a life. She can’t stand and just let him die. She can’t. She’s even more admirable and noble. It’s easier to choose the safe way. She doesn’t do that. She chose the right way. The way she believes is truth, no matter what. I love her for that.
And that’s why Mer and Der are so

my father won't do it, he'd cancer, no donation here, I wish him the best thing of course, we share genes after all, but I know him and in this case he'd take the organ and don't say a sad thank you

I hope meredith don't make the donation, is more interesting, but I guess it's a good way to put ellen out several chapters
I think lexie should respect mer here, she asks and mer says no, and thatcher dies and everybody is happy
I think lexie's spoiled although I think the same about derek and cristina and I love the two characters (sorry if I don't use well the word spoiled, I read the meaning and I think I'm using it well)
but I don't think she's a b...h, or cruel, and I know about mer situation with her father like some people here, and I didn't think that bad about lexie, FOR NOW, I mean, If she respect mer decision then I'll forgive lexie that's my opinion

Another thing Meredith's parents are all about taking, and not giving. Meredith shouldn't be giving Thatcher anything, I think is time for Thatcher to give something to Meredith, I think Thatcher should refuse Meredith donation.

Well I've been in Meredith situation. Let me tell you is a difficult situation and to tell you the truth from my experience what Lexie is doing asking Meredith to "give me my father back" is the most horrible thing a person can ask to someone who has been abandoned by their father. It shows that Lexie doesn't understand the damage Thatcher cause Meredith, just like my half brother didn't understand the damage my father caused me.
All I can say is that I decided to donate the kidney because I didn't want to live with regret but my father has the decency to refused it. He found another donor, he doing well and we actually have a better relationship because of that experience. I really struggle with my decision and my half brother really hated me for not making a decision fast enough, we still struggle with our relationship, but I think we have become closer.
As for Meredith situation I think Meredith will do it, however I think Thatcher should have decency to refused it, he owe

You are right, I have no idea what it feels like to be in that situation but there are no justification to Lexie's demanding.
I hate Lexie's demands because she's using what Meredith lacked and yearned for. "Just give me MY dad back", "I know he was horrible to you but wonderful to ME". Selfish. She's just rubbing in Meredith's face how great he was with somebody else and not with her, while still being HIS daughter. It disgusts me in all levels.
Like I said, she doesn't UNDERSTAND the damage that he did to Meredith. If anyone has a right to comment or to influence Meredith's decision is the Chief (he saw the damage first hand) and maybe Derek (he does understand it).
I don't argue that Meredith will do it because I think she will. Like Daedra said, she's a better person than he is.
I just hate to see somebody so undeserving like Thatcher receive such a huge gesture. I really, REALLY, want to see Derek and Meredith put him in his place.

The Producers said that it will be a very surprising ending ... i guess mer will do it, but thatch will have a complication and die at the end .. just saying.. and i didn't find lexie annoying at all.. and let me ask you this question : if ur father was dying, wouldn't you beg the only person who can save him, to save him ??? ,, even if thatcher was cruel to meredith, i would've asked meredith to save his life.. Anyway, it seems to be a very intense episode ..

I think she should do it. I would do it because I would never be able to live knowing that I let someone die.
I think mer will do it. And I think that when lexie wants to thank her she's totally gonna freak out and she's gonna tell lexie that she didn't do it for her but for herself or something like that.

To all of these people who act like they knew anything about being left by your father or being slapped in your face, read Daedras comment again and think about it. lexies reaction is completely human.. I hate to say it but none of you have an idea of how it feels like to be in this situation, me neither, but i guess I'd do it - because i would not want to live with the guilt - no matter how bad thatcher treated her, he's still her father and without him she would not be there..
To say it directly and clear: I do not think that thatcher grey was a good father. i just say that you should try to see this storyline from different views of sight..if it wasn't Lexie who begged Mer for helping her dad, would you still talk so nasty about her?
Thatcher is the monster in this whole thing, not Lexie.

I agree completly with anuflas, Gloria and Lou.
Mer shouldn't do it at all!! He doesn't deserve anything for her! He left her when she was freakin 5 years old, never faught for her, she searched for his address and went to find him not the other way around, and he only talked to her because his wife asked her to have dinner together and how she was after Ellis's death he made effort for anything!! Than he accused her of his wife death and slapped her in front of everyone, that was so cruel and I can't get it out of my head and he banned her from Susan's funeral!! Beacause of him she had lots of trust issues with people leaving her!! And the patetic sober apology he made in season 5? He made it mostly to Lexie not to Mer he never apologized for leaving her as a child or for his wife death or for slapping her. He is patethic excuse for a man that deserve nothing from a person who he hurt over and over again and gave nothing for her!!

I don't really know what she will do, because I don't know what I would do. I can't picture myself agreeing freely to donate an organ to a parent that abandoned me, ignored me and was abusive physcially and verbally to me. Would I willing put myself out there again to be hurt again not only emotionally but physically for my biological father. I just don't know. Karma is a bitch.

Lexie has every right to ask. Thatcher is not the same to Lexie, and she loves him. She can't help that.
Mer should do it. Why? As a victim of child abuse myself, I'll say this--if my mother was dying and needed part of my liver or something, I would give it to her. Not because she deserves it, not because I love her. Because I am a better person than she is, and I will never be cruel like her. Meredith is a better person than Thatcher. She'll do it.

i am absolutely disgusted with lexie in this promo.
she is technically rubbing it in mer's face that thatcher was great to lexie but not mer..
how is that in anyway sensitive or deserving of an organ ?
as anuflas has said, he never apologized, and therefore does not deserve forgiveness.
"im asking you to give me my father". she seems to have forgotten that thatcher is meredith's "father" as well. from the start of season 4 till now, she still does not understand the pain thatcher put meredith through, and this is why i am disgusted with lexie.

Mer is kind and she will do it. But I don't think she should I agree with folks, Thatcher never wanted a relationship with Mer even when she went to see him in S2. The only reason Thatcher asked about Mer was because his daughter Molly was in the hospital having a baby. He slapped her in S3 & told her she was not welcomed at the funeral & that she killed his wife his daughter Molly was there and Lexie was in the car.. Lexie has no right to ask her to save her father. In S5 when Thatcher was doing his step 9 to recovery his letter was for Lexie not for Mer. Lexie & Sloan want to be so much like MERDER which will never happen there is only 1 MERDER... Lexie is spoilt & wants to be Mer she got herself in Mer circle of friends & now is with Derek's best friend....

I thought Lexie was begging Mer to operate on thatcher, not be an ORGAN DONOR !!! Is Lexie CRAZY!! Oh HELL NO!!!
There is no way in the world should Mer get in the middle of this. Lets close this chapter in her life right now.

Thatcher Grey gets NO PITY party from me!! The hell with him. I still get sick on my stomach thinking about that slap he gave Mer. Mer does not owe Lexie ANYTHING!!!
I like Lex, but right about now she is a pain in the behind! She is just TOO immature and weak in her role as a doctor. She needs to GROW up!!
