I LOVE IZZIE STEVENS SO MUCH, SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTER PEOPLE! SHE HAS BEEN ONE OF THE FEW PERSONS WITH REAL STORIES, EMOTIONAL TRAGIC AND LOVE STORIES IN THE SHOW AND WE ARE GOING TO MISS HER THESE FIVE EPISODES.
I ALSO LOVE KATHERINE HEIGL!! SHE IS WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL AND WITH GREAT PERSONALITY, I DONT THINK SHE IS A DIVA, SHE IS JUST A STAR, A HUUUGHHH BIGG STAR..

JUST A THOUGHT: Izzie gets laid off and has more time on her hands so she joins some cancer support groups while Alex and her struggle in their marriage because of different schedules and lack of seeing each other. Izzie will probably have an emotional time seeing how she is living with cancer and lost a job that is the biggest part of her life. Eventually, she will probably get to come back to work but for now I'm guessing that's how the story will play out for her non-consecutive 5 episode hiatus.

SR loves that post it too much to break it, and to me, it seems that the reverberations is the constant mocking of the post it, which it's getting annoying.
Also, we're not aware of the legal status of it. Even if not legally married, they could had given each other power of attorney. Not married but still be able to make legal decisions for the other person.
From the second promo, I do think that Mer gets in some sort of complication because Cristina yells at the Chief that they should let them cut her. I'm not sure where Derek is and I think he won't be allowed near the OR. Like when she drowned.
Here's some data I found about the recuperation time for liver donation (if it does happen):
Recuperation time in the hospital is from 4-7 days. After release of the hospital, the donor can take up to 6 weeks recuperating to be able to return to normal activities.

I too have concerns about Shonda's repercussions, everyone seeems to know about the post it wedding, Alex and iz have openly mocked it.
There's supposedly an unexpected end to thiis episode. I have some theories. In the most unlikely of them I see the chief telling Der that his marriage isn't legal, and he can't help Mer, only Thatch as the blood next of kin can. So MerDer have an impromptu legally recognised wedding in the hospital.
But I think my scenario is so unlikely. I just am waitng for the reverberations to unfold, and I do so hope they won't be hurtful for our MerDer, cos I do like how happy they are as a married couple.

Or maybe something happens to Thatcher, and Mer feels like its her fault...like maybe the transplant failed, then meredith will feel like she killed susan and thatcher...who knows we can sit her and guess all we want, but i guess we're just gonna have to wati!!

I agree with Melody. For Meredith and Derek they are married in their minds and hearts, but in medical situations and if there will be complications they can't decide anything for each other, because they are not legally married. Maybe Shonda will be nice enough to make them married legally:P

I actually wonder if mer is going to have complications with the transplant. this would give the writers more of a reason to have mer laying in bed or relaxing and recovering while EP is pregnant. And shonda did say that we would see "post it note marriage repercussions during this season" well Derek not actually being her husband in the event of some kind of medical emergency would be a problem! In any case mer won't be able to take tequila shots like she did in the first season!

I personally think we should be glad that we are seeing mer at all....she just had a baby normally people go on maternity leave, and are off the show for a while...
I love Mer/Der I love Alex/Izzie I'm one of the few people I guess who LOVE every charater and ever aspect of the show...I dont watch to only see izzie and alex or only see george or only see Mer/Der. I welcome change, because ultimately we have to be real the ratings were down last season, and they are ALREADY up this season....
Lets just be patient and keep the faith, and have faith in trust in our favorite guilty pleasure! =)
And I agree with Kristen...I like the merger too. It's so real, so many story's on Grey's seem so hard to fathom, but this is real! My dads company just merged with another, and they went through this same competition type work just to keep thier jobs! Kudos to shonda rimes and betsy beers and the rest of the writers for yet again touching on yet another storyline that really hits home with

It would be amazing to see it on for that long. I cant wait for tonights epi or the week after with Hector as Callies Dad, that was a fun epi last time he came to visit.

They are ALL dedicated to the show :) I believe that Izzie will be laid off, and maybe go stay with her mother...she did mention that her mom sent her the wig...so they have repaired their loose ties...Its going to get good...really good.
I feel like I am the only one who actually likes the whole merger..remember the point of bringing on all these characters is to be able to take Grey's to different levels, and ultimately get ABC to keep the show on past their 7 year contract! Can you imagine if Grey's stayed on as long as E.R.

Wow, can't wait for that ep! I can't possibly imagine what might Izzie cause to leave, but I believe we'll see some great acting from KH (and I'm saying it as a not-too-big-KH-fan).
The non-consecutive part of her upcoming absence surprised me actually; I thought we'll be Izzieless for more than a month.
It's weird but I like Izzie more after the last week's episode, where she was (if I remember correctly) the only one who mentioned George in a touching way. I liked that.
