Joel Grey to Guest Star on Grey's Anatomy as Izzie's Teacher
Izzie Stevens was fired last night on "Invasion."
But she will be back on Grey's Anatomy at some point next month.
We know this because the (appropriately named) veteran actor Joel Grey, 77, will appear in a November episode as a blast from Izzie’s past - her old high school teacher.
“It’s a pretty amazing episode,” says show creator Shonda Rhimes.
“It turns out he was the teacher who convinced Izzie (Katherine Heigl) she was more than just another girl from the trailer park. And now he’s in need of her help.”
What role will Izzie's former mentor have on her future?
This will be Heigl's only episode in November sweeps, as she is off shooting a movie. Her character's firing last night cleared the way for her to miss five episodes.
Rhimes is also considering bringing back Sharon Lawrence as Izzie’s mama, Robbie Stevens, who was last seen at the end of Season 5 at her ailing daughter’s bedside.
“We love Sharon,” Rhimes says.

I think just every Grey's fan would agree with Bella.
But this is the first hope that Izzie will be back and that we have a great storyline to look for.
Also, this could be a reason to tell alex that she already has a daughter. i mean, does he know? because i think just bailey and george know/knew that she was pregnant in high school. maybe alex would persuade her to search for her daughter and so katherine heigl had a reason to be away for a few episodes.
SOOO, really looking forward to that storyline.
P.S.: Sorry for my not sooo good English. Please just correct me, if i have something wrong, so that I'll learn something. :D

I totally agree with Bella on both points. It doesnt really matter if they use the same actors. It would be fun to see everyone how they were back in high school. It would also be a very good reason to bring back Kate Burton as Ellis.

I'm waiting for everything to begin to work out for Izzie; remission, returning to work, happiness with Alex.. Then when it's least expected, she will walk into an empty elevator and when the door closes, George, who is standing in a corner will say, "Hello Iz." Signalling of course an arc where George returns.. for awhile, and sadly.. the return of Izzie's brain tumor...

It would be fun if they brought addison again, or mabe one of derek sisters that wants to meet meredith, or maybe find out a little more of lexie's past

okay, who cares if they use the same actors for small parts on both greys and private practice??? its no big deal!!!
i wonder why they have somebody playing an old high school teacher of Izzie's? i reckon a really great episode would be one where they all have flashbacks to their high school days (when Izzie was pregnant, Cristina being controlled by her mother, Meredith with the "angry pink hair" that clearly says she had a rebellious side, and Alex dealing with his abusive father)
it could be brought on by them dealing with some teenager that has his/her own bad experience... i think it would make for a great episode

i love how you can watch amazing actors, such as joel grey, on either Greys or Private Practice and then turn over and watch them again in an entirely differnt role. Anyone remember the lawyer from season 2 Greys that was having seizures...PETE'S MEG on private practice. It's great when this happens and oober excited doesn't cover it that he's going to greys :P
