Before I red answers, i thought 'awesome' :) Many things will change... I hope doctors from Mercy West will stay for longer :) They're jerks but they're funny :) And they brought fresh problems, 'cause last episodes was kind of boring for me ;) Only it's really sad what happened to Izzie - she get called whore by the Mercy dr she trusted and then she almost killed the patient 'cause of him and finally she got fired - why did so many things happened to her?

CindyLe,
People here are talking about the show itself, not the merger. The adding of constant characters (although we know that in reality, it should happen due to the unification of two hospitals) is upsetting people. From one episode to another, is expected to be fond to these new characters and shove the old ones back (it's what GA is doing). Just wanted to clarify that.
Lauren,
Izzie has certainly had a bad track (hell, who on this show hasn't) but yeah, this break will put a different perspective on things. She is supposed to be back in November sweeps, maybe we'll be able to see the first of many changes she'll be going through.
And totally agree that this show needs to shift its focus back on the original formula. I think S3 had the best cast that the show could've had (and Mer was still at the core of the story). I understand that change must happen but it has to be slow paced. Everyone got to like Owen and Arizona but they were introduced with several episodes i

I want to see the Cristina from seasons 1/2/3 ,the amazing cardio surgeon she was with Burke, that rocked, not like right now, she is like she said fighting for nothing even Owen isn't helpful. I know that he is so professional but he gave the surgery to that rude mercy wester and what's with the' you played football thing? I felt for Cristina... she made me cry! She had every reason in the world to miss Burke. I love Owina but when she was with Burke she was amazing, happy and alive and I want to begin to see that Cristina!! You guys obviously do not understand the logistics of a merger. Two hospitals find that they may survive a recession if they can pull their resources together. So they merge! In order for the merger to work successfully, they have to consolidate the staff. They're not hiring more staff! They're firing staff. The people from Mercy West have probably been laid off, and the remaining join Seattle Grace where staff has also been dwindled down. Now the remaining have to fight it out in order to reserve their spot as the merger becomes final. Consolidation of the two hospitals will hopefully create a one bigger better hospital. Usually, this is up to the Board of Directors or whichever group makes the decision to accept a merger if both hospitals or one is suffering in revenue or profits. Sometimes hospitals merge because another two across town merged, and they have to team up to gain a leg up. So for those of you that are confused as to why they're hiring more staff, they're not

Anuflas,
You may be right about that. Izzie seemed.. well, behind ever since the first episode of the series. She was driven, yes, but constantly wondering if she was good enough, since she had to fight for the job to stay alive. Cristina and Meredith were born surgeons practically. They had the talent that didn't need to be taught. Izzie is smart and driven, and she's neither talented nor maladroit. With practice, she'd be a wonderful surgeon.
Maybe getting fired will be what she needs, I just wish that maybe it hadn't happened the way it did. It seemed like the second she stood up and brushed herself off from something bad, something else would happen. First the melanoma, then George's death, and now being fired. Not something I think she could handle. But if it brings her back stronger then ever, then it works.
I almost feel like the show needs to get back to basics, you know? There's been no head of cardio for months now, and no one to replace Addie when she left. Maybe th
Yes Anuflas, attendings! :)
I agree SGH have the best ones. And you are right about we won't see all of them. For sure! :)
But still how about cardio? Even a non world class cardio surgeon is better than no cardio at all! Cristina asked Nelson (shadow Shepherd) for surgery. She would have asked any cardio guy before that. She wouldn't be so desperate.
And remember when Arizona showed up? The Chief told Bailey he was having trouble to get people to work with him. She was the best he could get at the time.
So it would be easy to get the cardio people from MW at least unless he find another world class one don’t you think?
I can’t accept that. Great for Sandra's performance. But too far from the truth.

I liked the episode and I'm looking forward to how it all plays out this season. What I think is going to happen if anyone watched Private Practice and Bailey has to have a love life on the show and they're going to kill two birds with one stone by bring Sam from PP to GA. He did his residency in cardio throacic surgery and GA needs a heart doctor. This gives Bailey a new man and Christina access to hearts. Problem solved.

Lauren,
So we're cool on that. ;)
In any other time, I think Izzie should have filed the wrongful termination lawsuit but I think that this mandatory break (in while we find out to see how she'll be back) to really realize and deal on the recent events (her cancer status and George's death) will do her some good and eventually come back in a stronger force. She hadn't had an easy year, in some way, her dismissal could've been the best thing to happen to her.
Her return could be something interesting to watch. Maybe she comes back more surgical driven or with a different frame mind on medicine and what she really wants for her career. Izzie, so far, is the only one who hasn't got to the whole and healed that everyone else has (even though Cris is in an impasse), maybe this is what it is needed.
Mari,
Just a question, what other ones? Attendings? If it's that, I also asked myself that question but given SGH's standards of having world class surgeons (as far known, Derek

Anuflas,
Hey, you don't have to like her at all if you don't want to. Truth be told, I kinda miss the old Izzie. The one who fought more. After Denny died she became a different person - I mean, I would assume after someone you love dies you would be - but this was a different type of change. Honestly, this is the first time I've liked Katherine Heigl in anything; the role of Izzie changed my thoughts of her.
And even though you don't like Izzie, you don't get spiteful of it. You don't say "OMG IZZIE SUCKS I WANT HER GONNNEEEE!!!!" which some people do and it honestly makes it silly. You add the points and you have things to back it up. I respect that and your thoughts.
And the orangies suck. And as far as what you mentioned about Derek, I would LOVE to see him as Chief. I really would. In the beginning of the show, Richard seemed to be the one that was caring, and understood people's issues. If he didn't, Izzie wouldn't have been back after the LVAD situation. I don't underst

There are too much new caracters and for me it's no good because i juste want writters developpe storylines of ours fav. Don't want to know about the other!
The only good thing in this episode was the relationship between Callie/her father and Callie + friendship between Mer/Cris.
Poor Cristina, she makes me crying :(.
I don't understand what the writters want to do with C/O's relationship??? S5, Owen was so in love with Cristina, he takes care of her, he sees her, paye attention on her (even if he does not show it in front of her at the beginning). They dont' need to speak a lot to understand each other because they are soul mate. And now, the last 3 episodes, we see nothing about them, no tendeness moment. Owen seems not see what happen to his girlfriend...he's blind or stupid?? It's no sense to be like that after seeing what we are seeing in S5.

I think the merger makes sense in terms of reality. Truth is that economic times are taking desperate measures but there are things that are off.
First, too many orangies. I assumed that MW did their cuts but it seems that SGH did more. Are they cheaper?
The reason for Izzie's dismissal was odd, now that I think of it. To me, the LVAD incident was way worse than the kidney transplant. Different times? If anything, the Chief was looking for an excuse and it was stupid. We all knew that her being fired was coming but I thought that the Chief had two more neurons and it'd be about overall performance, not who makes the first mistake to be dismissed.
I'm happy Megan filed that lawsuit. Maybe that'll knock some sense into him.

Ok, so I actually loved the episode. Here's why:
The writer's are actually making the viewers care again. Some people stopped watching because they thought it was getting boring. Last night's episode was not boring. Even though everybody hates the new characters right now, that's what the writers want us to do. It makes us care about the original characters again. Plus, remember what a jerk Alex was the first couple episodes of the show? And now we all love him, and I think eventually we'll grow to love the new characters too.
It was wierd how Mark wasn't in the episode at all. That's one of the first times a character has been missing with no explanation at all. It would have been really funny to see his reaction to everything.
The scene with the chief and Izzie was so sad! He's being a total jerk. I expected that she was going to be fired, but I was totally suprised when she left Alex. Can't wait to see how that's gonna play out!
