The entire marriage of Alex and Izzie was a mistake. Alex said so himself when he told her that they got married because they thought she was going to die. You don't marry someone else because of it. I believe that in the Denny case, Izzie had accepted his marriage proposal influenced by the fact that Denny could die, even after the transplant (and he did).
As much as the show has led us to believe that Izzie is the 'sane one' in the relationship area, she's just as lost as the others. Just when her relationship with Alex started to take off to a stable area, cancer hit. He stood by, showing that he was ready for a committed relationship but doesn't necessarily mean marriage.
I absolutely agree that Alex has always been second choice. Izzie never got over the fact that Alex had a mishap by cheating on her. While looking for her tumor in the wedding day, she said she'll always love Denny too. To me, it's illogical to say she'll love a dead man but wanting an alive man too. I real

You are completly wrong! First she loved Alex than she saw him with another woman. so she fall in love with denny..Iz and Alex have to be a couple!

I agree with some of the people here who said that Alex is the most one who is in the relationship since the begining. For Izzie, Alex is always the second choice. She is always going to love somebody else before him. I totally feel sorry for Alex. He is one of my favourite characters and he deserves better than her. I really liked Izzie the first 2 seasons.. but now I just I can't and don't like her at all and those episodes without her.. I really didn't miss her!!! And they only got married because they thought she was going to die, it would be Meredith and Derek who got married so they weren't ready for the marriage and that kind of commitment and got married for the wrong reasons. They were only dating for a few months!!

Ya. Poor Izzie is a total mess and probably thinks Alex isn't totally behind her. Stupid Chief mashed up Alex's words. That dude needs some serious help with his pride. But back to Alex and Izzie. I really hope they can fix this. Izzie told Bailey and Derek that she saw Alex as the one person she wanted to see herself with the rest of her life. They're perfect together. And I think Izzie was ready for the marriage with Alex, and he was ready for her, but with the cancer and the job loss and the way it was done...well I can't blame Izzie for running away. I just hate the way she did it.
And one other thing. Reed better stay away from Alex. Either that, or Izzie needs to come back and kick her butt. Maybe it'll remind her that Alex is her's and no others. I really hope Alex doesn't do the whole adultery thing. It looks like we're gonna get that with Cristina and Owen tonight anyway...

well, i really hope this couple will finally dodge this obstacle and make it through the season. i agree with shonda whe she said these two were meant to be together.as for the scoop, it says nothing new.of course everything surrounding alex and izzie will be interesting: she is MIA and her comeback and everybody's reaction is the most intriguing part of the series right now.

When Izzie left Alex, it was a miracle that he was able to go on like he did. Plus, he had the support with Meredith and Christina. Plus, with some support of the newcomers from Mercy West (Jackson, Reed, and maybe Charles) to let he know that they were behind him. Witch that showed the trust between each other. I think that they all will stand by Alex in whatever happens or decision that is made.

Alex is already having a hard time. I do agree with those who say that Izzie and Alex got married for the wrong reasons and that has consequence.

Well, I have a feeling that her old high school teacher coming in the next episodes will make alex really mad, and that will be the end. I think Izzie will break Alex's heart, and I'm scared for him. He doesn't deserve that.

You have to remember that when she was fired the Cheif made it seem like Alex wasn't on her side and doubted her as did other doctors at the hospital. It is a misunderstanding that she SHOULD talk through with Alex but I agree she has had a rough time and this was the last straw...

Maybe the adoptive parents of Izzie's daughter die suddenly and she brings the girl home to live with her. Definitely "pretty interesting" for Alex, as Izzie has yet to tell him about the girl.

Yes, Cathy, I understand what you mean. You are right about the fact that she's had a really hard time ever since she met Denny. I would be a total mess if I were in her situation.
But I feel sad for Alex who has made so many efforts to make her feel less miserable. I keep thinking that she shouldn't treat him like that. Silence is not a good way to deal with people who care. It's not necessarily about the marriage, which isn't gonna work for the moment, I think. It's about respect.
Am I still clear ? :)

Rosalie, totally true, she was ready to marry Denny..what i wanted to say is that she might not be ready and - most of all - able to be a wife to alex right now..i mean come on, she was in love with alex, then engaged to Denny, then in a relationship with george, then again with alex and after a short time and - because of a desease - they married. she had to give up her daughter for adoption, her fiance and her best friend died, she was about to die too and finally she got fired. if i was in a situation like iz,i think i'd need to get away too..and i'd need to see a good therapist, like every day to get over everything that happened oO
for me, it does not matter if alex is the love of her life or whatever, it has nothing to do with her feelings - she's a complete mess and i don't think that much people could keep a marriage working in such a miserable situation.

To me, they're gonna have to discover the reasons why they should be married, or not.

I think that was a crappy spoiler. It didn't tell us anything. "The end of the season is going to be pretty interesting"...great.
I think that sperm in a cup is going to come into play - Izzy is going to decide she wants a baby before she could possibly die... Or shouldn't she look up her 1st child and let her know about her cancer for future reference for her? So many storylines they could take with the originals - and they bring in new characters...

Marrying someone while you're quasi having one foot in the final is not a good requirement for a healthy well going marriage..my guess: izzie is going to realize that she was not ready for being a wife(doesn't mean that she doesn't love Alex). When you've just defeated cancer and lost your person you might not be able to keep up a relationship that was just made official because you and your partner thought you're going to die in the next days/weeks/ect. And this is - unfortunately - a fact that not even the most passionated ai-shippers can refuse - if iz wasn't going to die, the wedding would have been mer and der's wedding. Might hurt, but is true :(

As much as I love Izzie and Alex together, I have to say that, to me, Alex is the most involved in the couple. It's weird to say because he's not always been the best boyfriend, but since the first season, he's always been looking at her. And she hasn't, like she's never been really 100% in it. Alex wasn't her true choice. I used to love Izzie but now I resent her for leaving him after everything he did for her.
I shouldn't say this, but now, I kind of want Alex to let it go and wait for her to come to him.

I think Iz has at last reacted with anger to her cancer diagnosis by leaving Alex the way she did. I think Alex has really adjusted to the husband role better than Iz has adjusted to being a proper wife. For all that Iz said she'd always love Denny and that she associated him with dying, I really think she wasn't over Denny when she married Alex
