I think the doctor is going to be the Chief and that is when all the Chief drinking comes out. It also will reflect on how the Chief is feeling pain but is trying to numbs it with alcohol but it doesn't work.

Yeah, a lot of these anesthesia-like episodes have been on many, many hospital shows. The format changes, but the idea is the same, and honestly, it really creeps people out. I think it is a fear that a lot of people have. Not sure why they wanna do that to people - again, this is not the first time Grey's has done something like this. Guess it's that whole drama thing.

Are you talk about the bird watcher guy that Erica had to operate on awake? That guy was allergic to the meds they used so he had to have open heart surgery awake. Just numbed from the neck down. He was awake through the whole thing. But begin to freak out. So Izzy started talking to him and asking what birds the people in the observation deck looked like. I watched that eppy not long ago on you tube.

This was done on Grey's. I don't remember what season but I recall Izzy having to tell the guy a story to distract him from freaking out. I think it was the same episode where she kept trying to prove to everyone that she was "badass"

This has been done on House.
Cant remember when coz Ive stopped watching it. Maybe season 2 or 3.
They had someone in surgery and the anesthesia wasnt working. And you could see that and we could see her screaming inside. But the doctors had no idea about it. It was really scary and cringe worthy to watch but amazing!

Oh man!!!! And another thing. Can we live till january without another new eppy of Greys'? I am already freaking out. LOL!!!
But atleast we have the cross over to look forward to when it returns. I can't wait for that. Addie will be at SGH I love Addie. I also can't wait for her to meet AZ and see how they get along. I hope they get to work together. I wish we had a little something to hold us over. I am such and obessed fan. LOL!!! It hasn't even been a week and I"m already having withdraws. LOL!!!

Meg I hate to be the one to tell ya. But this pic don't mean that Marks beard is growing back. That pic is from when Derrick and Mark get into the fight on the cat walk. So when the show comes back in 2010 he might still have not have a beard.

And I'd like to add that the woman with the toxins in her blood DID wake up during her sugery. She was trying to move around and Addison had to run in the room holding her breath and give her more anesthesia.

Megan.. completely aware that they meant to wake Burke up. What I was talking about is a patient being awake in surgery has been done. That's all.

THEY MEANT TO WAKE BURKE UP...THAT WAS A PART OF THE OPERATION. IN SEASON 1 THE LITTLE GIRL NEVER WOKE UP AND THE OTHER ONE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WAS THE CANCER GIRL WHO HAD TOXENS IN HER BLOOD...SHE NEVER TOTALLY WOKE EITHER.
IN THIS SERGERY IT SEEMS LIKE THE PATIENT JUST WAKES UP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN OPERATION...NOT THE SAME AS THE ONES ABOVE...

I hope that they mix up the surgery partnerships a bit.
Cris only seems to work with Ted and Avery on heart surgery.
Lexie seems to work a lot with Sloan
Mer actually got to observe a surgery via amonitor, but not do anything other than pratice her skills.Will she ever wear surgical clothing an actually participate in an actual surgery ?

Jolene, it was the first season. I think episode 7 or 8. and that was the first thing I thought of when I read this. thats the problem with T.V. after so many episodes you have to start re-doing things. Its hard to keep it so original. Desperate Housewives is doing an aweful season this year I think. It's been repeating itself since the third season. and now they're repeating the repeat storylines.

Wasn't it just last season that the George warned Dereck about the drunk guy but Derek let him be in the OR anyway and then the patient almost woke up because he fell asleep? Seems similar to that....

Whatever episode they are planning the awake-during-surgery deal for, you can be sure I won't watch it. I've had to go through several surgeries in the past six years, and that's my biggest nightmare. I'd be up in the middle of the night for weeks, in a cold sweat.

They've done that before.. with Burke when he had to wake up in the middle of his surgery to check for movement in his hands.. and that chick who had the blood condition that made everyone sick. She woke up while her abdomen was still open and Addison had to come in and sedate her.
