You're right about it, never crossed this factor in my mind, as Patricia said too:
"she did like him a lot ", sure they have chemestry ... And had it before , sadly this story was stop before could get good , I think, but still is the factor that serena didnt pick him over trip (3x11), she knew trip's marrige, nate's cousin, she even promised the wife never ser him again... And ignore Nate begging to not go , so ... I'm not that sure She cared that much for him, at least then, I really love that this story is going to get the opportunity to
grow and we can see serenate finally get real.

From S1, Nate loved Serena, more than he's loved Blair, Vanessa or any other girl. I don't think he's ever loved Jenny. I can see the NJ but, it's not as big as NS. I think most of us are getting caught on the Jenny-Nate aspect of this triangle. Serena, is a whimsical, carefree, wild spirit that has loved many and been loved by many more. Throughout the season, she's been lost and acting out trying to find her place on the world whether it be through finding her father. Nate is someone who knows who is she and more importantly, loves hwr for it. Even if she is a bit of a mess. I truly believe that her ultimate love was, is and will be Nate. She betrayed her friendship with Blair for Nate and that's saying something! [although, it all worked out for Blair & Chuck now :)] Even though for the past two seasons Serena hasn't really interacted with Nate as much as I would've hoped, she still relied on his friendship & help when it came to Trip(p) and tried to make amends with Nate. But as you say CBSN it doesn't really depend on the characters. They are fictional after all. It's all on the writers shoulders. That we wish they would portray the character with the personalities already established to them is another thing.

Jeca, I think you are right about conflict. It is important. I believe how interesting characters are to the viewers have a lot to do with how they are written. I saw a show where two characters were very similar and they were still fun to watch.
The reason for this is because the writers knew how to play on their similarities in a way that made it amusing and funny. If the writers learn how to do that with Serena and Nate, they could be a very interesting couple.
But let's be honest. Chair has been incredibly boring this season, so that is a clear indication that the writers need to reevaluate where they are going with the show. I didn't even think it was possible for Blair and Chuck to be boring, but the writers somehow managed it.
So whether a couple is boring or not on the show has nothing to do with similarities, it has more to do with how well they are written.

I have my doubts about Serena ever being in love with Nate but you know what? We can't really know that. If it ever was, it was pre-series. So we can't judge something we have yet to see. Since she came back her propose was to avoid Nate and any kind of relationship with him for the Blair's sake.
But..I will repeat something I posted previously. We had in S1 Lily's "Serena's always had a little crush on you" and Blair's "I always knew there was something". I am in no way implying that she was in love with him because this statements but she did like him a lot a least. Serena has the a small attention span and if they noticed it, I am almost sure it must have been a little obvious. I would love for some episodes to have a little spin-off pre-series of the NJBC, where they are children and have all kind of flashbacks.
I am sticking with my thoughts of possible *strong* feelings for Nate from Serena's part. The pilot stuck to the books mostly and if they were going for that, Seren

Has Serena been in love Like Nate too?
I don't think she is or has been, if you she her history, she never stared a relationship 'in love' , she gets in the relationship and then try to love the guy, never really does , (the only exception is Dan ) at leat the way she did with Dan , remember Aron , Gabriel, trip, it could happened with Carter but he leave.
Serena and Jenny have the same oportunity to have a great relationship with Nate , is different the way he sees them.
For me Serena is the friend he knows and trust with lot in comun,
with Jenny is a more paternal thing, his rescue need also gets lots of material with her, good friend but not that much history , that why it may work.
Alexander's right about Serenate could get boring as chair but I think that why writers but Jenny in the ecuation,
so it can't get stuck the storyline , is a open door for conflic, betrayal, etc, etc.
Also is an opportunity to give Jenny a twiste and could be another for Serena too (but for lat

I also never said jenny would be portrayed as the good girl, i said specifically they were making her out to be the bad girl. No, i dont want jenny to steal nate away and i dont even want them to be a couple at this moment, but in the future. i personally really want jenny and nate to be together because i think that they would be great but for the time being i think that jenny's too young, selfcentered and a bit evil for nate and i don't think he's ready to settle down longterm and when jenny and nate finally get together i hope it lasts so i think right now nate and serena are a better match, they could both need the security of a real relationship and finally get eachother out of their systems.

Anyway I'm really excited and I can't wait to see how their storyline is going to evolve. I have to say that i'm kind of intrigued by the Jenny thing too. I've always loved Jenny character .

Plus, I don't think Serenate is being used to ruin NJ. This season hasn't even been about Jenny and Nate. It has been about Serena and Nate's journey. Seeking, what we all at some point must do, our place in the world and trying to grasp what we want from our lives.
Its hard to put a pin on what this season is really about, and i dont think its just serena and nate. jenny has played a large part as well. Chuck and blair have kind of faded into the backround, but i guess theyùre still significant.

serena and nate are a good couple (I prefer jenny and nate) but the show would be totally boring if there's too many fixed couples (chair must remain 2gether)

duh of course jenny wants 2 move in on 1 of the regulars she hasn't really had much romance really
she cant do dan in-gross
she cant do chuck -ruin chair (horrific) neway he tried 2 rape so i dont think so

Can i just say, you argue really well and i enjoy reading your posts, especially as theyre totallly non-bashing :)
but i dont agree with you on some points.
I find it fascinating how easily that word "generalized" is thrown around. Number one: I'm a Serenate fan and I've never used "slut","whore", or "hooker" to describe Jenny. It is an unfounded argument established by some disgruntled fans to excuse why they hate her so much.
I never said that all Serenate fans are like that. I was talking to a specific one who said something.
Second, it is possible for Nate to love Serena. I have a living example of that in my life. A couple, I know, had something similar to Nate and Serena. The guy loved my friend even though he dated and slept with other women. I believe at the time, he thought, he would never get back together with her, and so he tried desperately to find what was missing in his life.
However, they soon realize it is very much real and “in their faceâ€

Ok, I'm getting frustrated by Jenny. She is really getting on my nerves these days. I think Serena deserves to finally settle down, and Nate and Serena has never really happened on the show. It is fresh and I'd really like to see them go steady. I think they make a very cute couple and its taken 3 seasons of waiting to see them together!

I don't think the were hiding anything, (I'm trying to remember here) in all season they weren't even good friends,Not really.
If Nate spent all this time in love of serena, what about Vanessa? He loved her too ( the 2 seconds his love last), and all the girls(Blair, Jenny, etc) ?
I'm more on the teory that he just got a crush on serena again,that may get bigger , his behavor didn't said that in the last 2seasons.
And Serena ... She's been more on the back and foward with Dan .( I miss that couple)

Please, please not Nate/Serena. Why does she always have to get it her way? She is spoiled and acting childish and stupid this season. I have been wanting Jenny/Nate since early season one. They seem to really get eachother and Nate prefered Jenny over Blair in seventen candles. I just wish they would have a fair shot at it without Serena. This is probably gonna ruin all possibliy futures for Jenny and Nate to be toghether and ruin Jennys character. It makes me so sad. :(

Yes, they handle Nate and love without a pattern in this show. As you say it's inconstant and sometimes illogical. It's one of the major points against Serenate. You don't quite trust his feelings now and it's not sure if what he is saying is real. I love the potential on this darker Jenny too. GG needed a spin like that and they delivered.

I get your frustrations as a Nenny/Jennate fan. Serenate was resurrected kind of randomly but I have to disagree with you on some aspects. I know is lame ( as context) but if you watch again the 310 ,there's a scene where S and N are walking in the park , bla, bla, then Serena hugs Nate and ... Ahh the finds the love again for her, ( watch his face)then is ther bar scenes .

Endgame.... I though that about chair and look at them, they work

I find it fascinating how easily that word "generalized" is thrown around. Number one: I'm a Serenate fan and I've never used "slut","whore", or "hooker" to describe Jenny. It is an unfounded argument established by some disgruntled fans to excuse why they hate her so much.
I never said that all Serenate fans are like that. I was talking to a specific one who said something.
Second, it is possible for Nate to love Serena. I have a living example of that in my life. A couple, I know, had something similar to Nate and Serena. The guy loved my friend even though he dated and slept with other women. I believe at the time, he thought, he would never get back together with her, and so he tried desperately to find what was missing in his life.
However, they soon realize it is very much real and “in their faceâ€

Ok, I'm getting frustrated by Jenny. She is really getting on my nerves these days. I think Serena deserves to finally settle down, and Nate and Serena has never really happened on the show. It is fresh and I'd really like to see them go steady. I think they make a very cute couple and its taken 3 seasons of waiting to see them together!

I don't think the were hiding anything, (I'm trying to remember here) in all season they weren't even good friends,Not really.
If Nate spent all this time in love of serena, what about Vanessa? He loved her too ( the 2 seconds his love last), and all the girls(Blair, Jenny, etc) ?
I'm more on the teory that he just got a crush on serena again,that may get bigger , his behavor didn't said that in the last 2seasons.
And Serena ... She's been more on the back and foward with Dan .( I miss that couple)

Please, please not Nate/Serena. Why does she always have to get it her way? She is spoiled and acting childish and stupid this season. I have been wanting Jenny/Nate since early season one. They seem to really get eachother and Nate prefered Jenny over Blair in seventen candles. I just wish they would have a fair shot at it without Serena. This is probably gonna ruin all possibliy futures for Jenny and Nate to be toghether and ruin Jennys character. It makes me so sad. :(

Yes, they handle Nate and love without a pattern in this show. As you say it's inconstant and sometimes illogical. It's one of the major points against Serenate. You don't quite trust his feelings now and it's not sure if what he is saying is real. I love the potential on this darker Jenny too. GG needed a spin like that and they delivered.

I get your frustrations as a Nenny/Jennate fan. Serenate was resurrected kind of randomly but I have to disagree with you on some aspects. I am not going to repeat what CBSN wrote because it's unnecessary. But I would have pointed out the same. In fact, it's more common a case like Serena and Nate in real life than one like Chuck and Blair. At least in the experiences of life I've been told of by my family(which is almost as scandalous as GG), friends and even some of my own

CBSN completly agree with you in all, you couldn't made it better.
I know is lame ( as context) but if you watch again the 310 ,there's a scene where S and N are walking in the park , bla, bla, then Serena hugs Nate and ... Ahh the finds the love again for her, ( watch his face)then is ther bar scenes .
Nate and love are just inconstant and illogical .
Endgame.... I though that about chair and look at them, they work
I don't like Jenny either but I think this dark mean cruel queen has so much potential, You have the little good decent girl who was nobody , then with money and power is making her kingdom in such a way and if all this is hiden from lily and Rufus noises... Mmm ...a foggy devil getting in the way to screw you.
