Might the loss of True Blood be the gain of The Good Wife?

As rumors circulate that a popular character will be killed off the HBO show's third season premiere, CBS has announced that Carrie Preston (True Blood’s Arlen) will portray Elsbeth (yes, Elsbeth) Mann for a few episodes of the CBS drama. The character is a member of Peter’s legal team.

While an HBO wouldn't reveal Arlene's fate directly to Entertainment Weekly, a show insider said this casting news doesn't prove anything.

“Arlene isn’t a major presence in the third book,” said the source. “A lot of the action takes place outside of Bon Temps, so [Carrie] probably had some free time on her hands.”

In real life, Preston is married to Michael Emerson of Lost.
