And what about Alex? His and Izzie's relationship was a huge part of character's story. During the last episodes he's been seen only as a stud... I'm just wondering how long this show is going to continue with these kind of decisions? (according to wikipedia it's been going down in viewers rankings too - no surprise!)

This is annoying! Izzie is - was - my favourite character. Too bad scripts were so bad for her and George starting from season three. Their affair was the most stupid thing ever - right after George's vanishment and death, of course. And now Izzie is just gone?? I hate to think that this show had such a great potential during its first seasons - now all lost. I still watch it but it just isn't the same anymore... Think about the name: it's Grey's anatomy but what interesting things have actually happened to Meredith for a long, long time? Nothing. Sloan, Callie, Lexie and Teddy seem to be the new leading characters.
Too bad they've totally ruined this show.

I'm honestly not disappointed or surprised. Izzie was an integral part of this show in its early years, and I think both KH and her character were phenomenal in seasons 1-4. Her sheer range of emotion was incredible...just thinking back to the episode where her daughter was in the hospital, or when she was in love with George, or her wedding...those were some very special moments. But now, I think her character would really have to be developed, and she'd have to make a completely fresh start. You can't come out of cancer, almost die, lose your best friend, your job and your husband and not reinvent yourself. So maybe her departure comes at an optimal time.

Nooooo, this is so sad!!! I will miss Izzie terribly, she was my favorite character ever since day 1. I think she has not made wrong decisions in all these quarrels, she just honestly stated her opinion. It's very, very disappointing that she doesn't get a real send-off. She's just gone- that's it?! Can they at least make up a really cool story about it then? If this is Katherine's decision, then that is the only one of hers that I've ever disapproved off.

I still like GA very much, also with the new characters, and I find it understandable that actors after years spent playing the same character, want to move on. It will be interesting though to see what will happen after season 7. As far as KH is concerned, I find her behaviour (complaining all these years about the show, and her lack of interest for Izzie and Izzie's fans during this season) really ungrateful towards the character which has made her famous (I didn't even know she existed before Grey's). She's missed already so many episodes and since she doesn't want to stay anyway for the next season, I think they were right in letting Alex tell her not to come back, and make HIM end their story this way. What would be the point now in having her back for the last couple of episodes in this season? A very clever move, Shonda! By the way, what I also find out of line is KH using her adopted daughter as an excuse for not working on Grey's set: with all the movies she's making I wonder

GA made Katherine a big star, not her romcom-movies. She has that big house and fancy car thanks to GA and her fans. And she's acting like a spoiled brat for years now. I love her character in GA, I'm e true Izzie-fan, but Katherine needs to grow up and count her blessings.

What the F***? If she isn't coming back, why didn't they let her die in season 5?

i think its the most f***** up thing shonda did!!!!!!!!!!!! i couldnt and still cnt believe theres not going to be no more izzie, she was like the funniest one.plus she was like one of the main characters.it's like shonda is trying to gt rid of all the original characters and replacing them. i am a fan of the show but now after this ill think twice of wtchin the show, since new season ive been waitin fr izzie to appear again!!!!!!! shonda's goin to lose a ton of viewers,her own fault,SHE deserves it unlike the show. im so angry....

I understand both sides. I am really sad Izzie will not be on the show because I really wanted the original five to stick together. However, I am happy all this drama is done with. It's a relief to be honest.

If KH doesn't want to be on the show, then they should get rid of her. I just hope they figure out how to give her a good ending, unlike Burke's speedy and unrealistic departure. At least George was given a funeral, a heroic end and his last scene on the show was with Izzy. With all that, I feel that grey's has such a hard time ending characters.

I think KH is being a brat, honestly. And if I were a casting director, I would not cast her, no matter how good she is/was. I mean, what if she dropped wanted out of her contract for my movie because she found a better one to be in? Unstable. NOT COOL.

I just cant believe whats happening to the show. I have been watching it since DAY 1! I absolutely love the show, I have been told I like it to much haha... anyways in the past 2 seasons... 5 and now this 6th seasons so many things have changed... main characters are leaving.. the stories just arent the same.. I dont know whats going on.. I hope the whole show itself doesnt vanish like all the actors are. As much as I love the show this season has been a little dissapointing, I wont stop watching but I do hope something happens soon a turn around would be awesome. I guess I was a George and Izzie fan the most and now its just so different. :( We will see what happens. I will support kathrine heigl in her movie career I love her movies and I think shes a great actress.

oh we shouldn't worry about her movie career Renee! She has a huge fan base and we'll all support her no matter what... She's already had at least 3 block buster hits in her short career... that girl will go far!

We saw it coming, please...KH wanted out of GA, and now she has what she wanted. For Alex...he deserves better, yes. He doesn´t deserve to be left after have been through all the illness with her. He cheated because Izzie left him, hurt him so badly that he wouldn´t forgive her for that. It´s not Alex´s fault that Izzie left. He is just a human being, and makes mistakes.
And for KH, she could have been more comprehensive and a good cast member. Farewell, KH, and wish you a good movie career, though I don´t think you are a good actress (critics are against her too).
I will buy the 6 season as soon as it is released in Spain (I don´t know when it´s going to be on tv). I bought season 5 without having seen it, and loved it.
Well, Owen is a good reason to keep on watching GA, don´t you think?

I can imagine how hard this announcement has been for KH and Izzie fans. I was convinced last season we would only see MAC finish their residencies, but I think GA is the poorer for not having MAGIC present.
I'm kinda surprised this announcement was made so early. We all know that Iz is gonna disappear at the end of S6, so where's the cliffhanger for the end of this season? I guess Alex could be devastated again.
GA is loosing it's direction and my interest. I'm beginning to hope that S7 has the final 2 years of MAC's residency squeezed in. The calibre of the storyline is falling and no amount of new characters will save it

I think if they are letting her go/or she's quitting they should atleast put I/A back together and let her character die from the cancer that was suppose to kill her. Atleast then there would be closure for her character and it would bring in some depth for Alex. The story line they came up with is stupid if this is the end for them. I really can't see myself watching anymore. As it is I find myself fastforwarding most of the episode that I tivo cause I'm just not interested in sitting thru all the junk.

I kinda agree the show is going downhill. It's just sad, really. Bleh. If it doesn't get better within the next few episodes, I say just cancel the show already and put us all out of our misery. I'd rather have 5-6 seasons of good or at least decent material that I can remember fondly, than another 5 seasons of lousy material that I wish was never even filmed.

oh and one more thing... if they knew this was gonna happen last season than WHY WHY have Izzie and Alex get married and yet having it end like that!!! it's crap... I think i would have accepted this more if Iz and Al didn't get married and she just died. that would have been easier than this.

I really don't know if i believe this at all because i did some research and all the other internet post keep saying they got their information from the same source but not from ABC, Katherine Heigl, or Shondra Grimes. So until I hear this from one of those people then i am forced to not believe this. Plus why would Shondra Grimes tell a reporter about how she wrote a great episode for Izzie and then we find out that Katherine Heigl would quit. I don't believe it until someone from ABC, Shondra Grimes, or Katherine Heigl confirms that this is true.

Really, really sad she's leaving... Izzie and George have always been my favorite characters. I was really disappointed when George died, but I can't believe Izzie will be leaving the show as well. She was funny and human and made me smile in every episode. I don't like where the show is headed and I think the sixth season is the worst yet. I kept watching it in the hope that Izzie would be back, but now I guess there's no point to keep on watching since all the best characters are gone. They should have killed Izzie in the fifth season when she had cancer instead of letting her go like this. What was the point of saving her and then get rid of her? She has had great moments in season five with the wedding and all, some of the best episodes ever. And now she's gone for good? Truly dissapointing...

Shonda is shutting her mouth about, obviously, she wants more people to watch this horrible excuse of "medical" drama, or should I say "highschool-pretend-you're-a-doctor-and lets-make-out-drama". And of course who is she going to use? It would be the only person who won an Emmy from her show, and of course the "ungrateful-beyotch-who-just-can't-keep-her-mouth-closed". It's always a ploy to put some controvery on the show esp with the series' decling ratings. She's using KH , but of course, she's the only one now that's doing movies and is successful. All those haters out there, it's kinda true. yes! Now, KH definetly needs to go too, I mean, it's about time, the show never appreciated her, give her the most over the top storyline, but no matter how stupid it is, we kept on rooting ofr her still because she is defintely a talented actress. Now can we also kill that stupid character of Lexie who's before the stupid"I-want-my-sister-to-love-me intern" to "I-strip-in-front-of-a-oversexed-
