At Home with Ellen Pompeo

We bring you Grey's Anatomy sneak previews every week ... but rarely like this.

The woman who puts the Grey in Grey's Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo, shows off her 1920s Spanish-style Hollywood Hills home in the May issue of Elle Decor mag.

"This house is perfect for our family," says the 40-year-old, who shares the pad with her hubby of two years, Chris Ivery, 41, and daughter Stella, 7 months.

"It's all about swimming, eating, and hanging out with friends," continues Pompeo.

"[Interior Designer] Martyn [Lawrence-Bullard] jokes that we live like college kids - people are coming and going all the time. What can I say? It's a happy place."

Of her decorating style, Pompeo says, "I am more of a minimalist."

In Ellen's Home

When she first bought the home (which once housed Ronald Reagan, according to local lore), "the place was like a museum," Pompeo says. "Nothing had been added or updated since it was built, except perhaps for some shag carpeting from the '60s or '70s."

"It was like a raw piece of stone I could carve."

Overgrown landscape even covered views of the Hollywood sign. Ellen Pompeo soon filled it with items from Morocco, Spain, Tuscany, and the South of France, vintage subway signs, oversized bathtubs and a 19th century Guatemalan farmhouse table.

"Ellen's basically a very easy, relaxed person who likes her home to be easy and relaxed as well," her designer says. "There's none of that star-diva craziness."

Anyone out there surprised by that assessment?
