Who Will Break Up on Grey's Anatomy?
You may have heard the talk about a big breakup looming on Grey's Anatomy.
It's coming, there's no way around that. The only questions: Who and Why?
We know that it's "one of the longer-term, most-loved couples" on the medical drama, and that it's not necessarily the intrusion of a third party that does the job. So ... scratch Bailey and Ben, Alex and Lexie, and Mark and Teddy from the list based on that.
Which basically leaves us with three options: Meredith and Derek (unlikely), Cristina and Owen and Callie and Arizona (certainly possible). Who do you think breaks up?

Oops sorry Me again. I been reading more of the posts. And Alex and Mer??? REALLY??? Ewwwwwww!!!!! They are like brother and sister.

OK I've not said anything here. I just been quietly reading. LOL!!! But I decided to post too. I believe SR that MerDer are together forever. And I hope they stay together forever. Der wants kids and Mer is leaning that way. There story line don't have to be about them breaking up and getting back together AGAIN. That gets old after awhile. So I think there relationship is solid. I honestly believe Cris and Owen are the ones that are going to break up. Cause Cris has become affraid of him. And she needs to be affraid. I can see him end up hurting her really bad. Then again it could be Mer and Cris that break off there friendship. Because Mer is affraid for Cris and Cris resents Mer trying to tell her she needs to get away from Owen. Then it might just be Izzy and Alex. And all of us has been worried for nothing. Again if Owen and Cris break up I hope Cris gets with Jackson. He needs someone and he is so pretty. LOL!!! I think they would be so cute together. So if Cris and Owen break up

Of course Derek is not dying, but if someday PD decides to leave before EP, Shonda might killed Derek off and only then I would accept Alex/Mer romance, and even then I would have a hard time accepting it, because is gross like so many had said Alex slept with Lexie who happens to be Meredith's sister.

There's no way Rhimes will break up MerDer. From season 1 she has been a total fangirl of the two of them. She is the one who has not only proclaimed to all who can hear her she is never breaking them up, but in an interview with EW, it was also said she made a promise to both Patrick Dempsey & Ellen Pompeo that she would never do so. Don't think she has any intent to lie to her leads and the last of the season one couples of Grey's. As far as Alex/Mer, well the above promise of Shonda Rhimes to her actors, the press & fans makes it a non issue, HOWEVER, it would beyond gross me out to think Alex has been scr*wing Lexie for months now and then would hook up with Meredith. Ewwwww,simply Ewwwww. The thought of it would be as gross as if Derek got back together with Addison after she has repeatedly slept with his best friend Mark -even in this season of PrP- and seems to be on her way to doing the same with Der's buddy Sam. Grey's would be like a walking incest show. Trust me,

wow, didnt expect too see this as a topic. this is interesting. reading the other comments, some people really hate the idea of Alex and Mer getting together. others could only have it happen if derek dies. and there is like two people who think it would be great.
1) I would only agree to this if derek died. that way, it would be a really good SL. it would suck to see derek die, seen as though he is Meredith's world, but it would also be an amazing SL for Meredith, basically it could make or brake grey's. If he did leave/die, we would see Mer repeat her ways in season 2/3, sleeping with inapropriate men, having the tequila as the best friend.
2) This could be a good storyline for the hospital. Who would become cheif ? What would happen to Sloan ? Or Lexie for that matter, even though she claims she has no feelings for Alex, I think she would be hurt by a Mer/Alex.
3) Also, how would Cristina get used to this. Tbh, i actually thought Cristina and Alex drunkenly hooking up wo

I agree ana114, this romance/affair/whatever it is would throw Mer's growth out of the window. I don't want to see that.
As awful as it sounds, it's time for Derek to see the other side of the gurney. We've seen him deal with the prospect of losing Mer (her drowning), now, we need to see her in that same position.
I can see Jackson fighting Cris for Cardio as a fellowship too, but I'd like for him to go to Neuro. IDK why, since we haven't seen a case with him and Derek but I think that their dynamic would be interesting to watch.
That'd make Mer in General, Alex (perhaps) in Peds, Cris in Cardio, Lexie in...Plastics? (I can see her following Mark around in this subject), Jackson in Neuro. One in each. :)

I brought up Addison as an example to make my point about Derek being cheated on again would be a ridiculous SL (in response to the posters that thought MerDer would be the ones breaking up for an attempt for Alex/Mer), not as a reunion (God, no) or

i agree with ana114, if derek died maybe alex//mer could bond over losing derek/izzie, that way it wouldn't be so weird. it would affect a lot of fans, i think there are mixed opinions. i love how this has just appeared out of nowhere.but i think right now meredith and derek belong together...

Derek and Addison? Seriously? Are we back in S2 because hey people, that's the last time they were together. MOVE on. Let Kate Walsh move on. She has her own show for crying out loud. We are in almost SEASON 7 of Grey's now and this convvo isn't' about them-get a life.They ARE so over & this topic is about Callie and Arizona, Owen/Cris & MerDer. Can we Please stick to the topic at hand. Btw..I think it's O/C that breaks up. Go Calzona!
