Sarah Wayne Callies Lands Lead on The Walking Dead

Fresh off a guest-starring stint on House, Sarah Wayne Callies has just scored a much bigger role.

The former Prison Break star will take on the female lead in AMC’s heavily anticipated The Walking Dead, a show based on Robert Kirkman’s comic books.

As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, Callies will portray Lori Grimes, the troubled wife of the show’s hero, Rick (Andrew Lincoln).

The comic book series follows the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse. The drama begins production in August.
